Unfortunatly, the program currently is not usable due to patch 3.0.2. although an unofficial version was released for this patch, the next patch, 3.0.2, rendered the unofficial version usless aswell. The programs creators are currently trying to develop the program for Wrath of the Lichking, but so far no new versions have appeared.

The WoW Model Viewer is a program that allows users to see all the models for characters, armor, weapons, monsters, spell graphics in the game files. Additionally, it enables people to take screenshots, add backgrounds, and add weapons/armor to a character of one's choice.

The latest version (v0.5.09d) was released on 15th May 2008.

Machinima

WMV are widely used by machinimists with the "blue- (or green-)screen-effect", because there are less limits there than in the real game.

WMV in WoWWiki

Texture files pulled out from WMV are not allowed on the wiki. In-game screenshots are preferred, but if you cannot find one it is okay to upload from WMV, as long as the model can be found in-game. If you are going to upload a picture to the wiki, we recommend it to be saved as a PNG (that way it will be transparent, thus allowing it to be used without a frame). The images shown below are bad examples as these have the default blue background.
It is also recommended that you use a image editing program to crop it to reduce space around the model. If you need a editing program, we recommend the GIMP. For further image guidelines, read WW:IMG.
