WoW Companion App[1][2] (also known as "World of Warcraft Companion App"; just "WoW" for app icon name) was indirectly announced with the announcement that support for the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app was ending in mid 2018.[3] It was released simultaneously to the iTunes (iOS) App Store and Google Play Store on August 13, 2018.

It is expected to use the previous World of Warcraft: Legion Companion App as a base and integrate features from the Mobile Armory app.[3]

The version of the app that was compatible with Patch 8.2 was not available to everyone on the patch's launch date of June 25, 2019, but Blizzard claimed it was propagating.[4] The Google Play store didn't even reflect the updated version on the patch release date (although the iOS app store did have an updated version).
