Warlocks causing Global War...

Ive been wondering, if a Warlock can just pull something from another planet and enslave it thus. wouldnt the homeworld be a bit annoyed? or.. Majorly.

Think about it, your the leader of a planet, and all your people just keep vanishing. wouldnt you wanna do find out where there going? and get them back? and kill all those responsible?

To drag this a bit more off topic, CFC's are more related to ozone problems, though they are greenhouse gases as well. (All that fire and fel energy does seem likely to produce nitrogen oxides, bring in carbon moxide and dioxide, methane from the decay and diseases they bring, etc., as well as cause other pollution issues from ozone and other odd gases produced. Though this all assumes warcraft world would have the something like earth chemistry, which if up for Metzen and such to decide.)
To actually keep this slightly on topic, though, it isn;t really explained, but My guess is if it were explained in more detail, the story would either be that there are an enormous amount of "wild" demons that are what get summoned (Some demons would be left behind, or escape, from the burning legion on different worlds, or into the twisting nether), and/or that the legion assumes that warlocks will in general be working with their goals, so won't be paying too much attention and won't worry too much, and/or that the legion has something resembling bureaucratic issues that prevent it from keeping track effectively of demons that get stolen away from it by warlocks.Minionman 16:13, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Is there anything in the game that makes players attack you?

Reason being i was in a raid group heading to Orgimmmer so we can all die in a realy unorganized group. when an orc runs past screaming about some hacking thing.

Is there anything that can make this bot attack me so i can kill it? im sure nobody would mind XD

You can also invite them to the party... they often accept so they can spam. Then if you're a hunter, you can misdirect something big and angry onto their soft and unsuspecting bodies... If you hunt around through the seasonal toys, you get the wands that turn you into halloween things like pirates. Also I don't remember how, but I swear you can turn into a snowman. If you want your mount to get in on the fun, it can be a reindeer. Non-holiday stuff includes Inv potion 83 [Noggenfogger Elixir] turns you into a couple of things like a skeleton. And the Inv misc monsterhead 01 [Deviate Fish] (gotta fish and cook) turns you into a pirate and a ninja. I'd think up more but I gotta run. How to begin raiding as a guild?

Hi, I'm a level 67 warrior, and the leader of a guild known as "The War Council" on the Aerie Peak Realm (Horde side). I, along with many of my fellow guild members are fast approaching, or have just reached level 70. My guild was founded with the view that many others are too narrow in focus, I wanted to create a casual guild that did everything the game had to offer, pvp and pve, raids and quests, and had fun while doing it. So far we've done almost everything with alarming effeciency, we're known as a fun party guild, and we're widely disliked by the alliance whom we frequently battle. However as we all approach the level cap the hardest part reveals itself, that of raids.

There exist many raid guilds for the horde on my server, most of which are obsessed purely with keying for and running Karazhan. Only 2 horde guilds on my server have even passed SSC to my knowledge (and according to boss kill tracking sites). For my guild, we for the most part are not raid experienced, and therefore wish to experience endgame 60 raids as well as doing the endgame 70. We have hosted a few events called "Raid Training Camps" where we try our best to use our combined knowledge to educate each other on what we feel is important to know in raids, and the differences between 5 man PuGs and raids. We have just now begun our first guild wide concerted effort in getting Onyxia Attunement which has thus far been a success, showing we have the teamwork needed for raiding.

However beyond this, I am very interested in knowing how other raid guilds got their start? We are more of a casual family type environment guild that just happens to have a large number of players interested in raiding. I don't wish to sacrifice our casual laid-back style, but I do want to have a chance at going as far as Black Temple and becoming a well reputed and successful raid guild. I find it hard to get such advice from my server community since a very large number of guilds come and go every month with the intent to become "a successful raiding guild" and we're just viewed as "wannabe underdogs".

So can anyone give me any advice on how to proceed with becoming a powerful raiding guild? I'm curious as to how those in high end raid guilds learned to become successful in raiding and such? We're not founded on the purpose of raiding, we are a family, and we want to experience the endgame with our family, but we all have to become prepared for it together, I welcome any advice anyone has for us.

-- Vicera 11:31, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

If you're family, you shouldn't have much difficulty working together, and you need all that family of yours to be experienced with all the spells their classes have and know the circumstances under which to use them, and you need to know tactics about the bosses, which you'll find on this site. There's no other way to gain experience rather than actually PLAY the game and learn, slowly but steady. And I forgot so sign >.< Bajo 14:22, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Keep in mind that most of the successful raiding guilds out there are not casual and fun guilds. They take raiding pretty seriously which is how they get to the top in the first place. They are selective on who are in their raids, so that the players are good and committed. My current guild is one like yours in its philosophy is and they're stuck currently on raiding just Kara weekly (due mainly to always having different people in a raid). They need to get an allied guild to help them do others like Gruul's or even to venture into SSC.
The guild my bf is in, on the other hand, is in one of the top guilds on our server. And they have mandatory raiding requirements and raid 5 days of the week, with the other 2 days been optional ones (mostly to get their alts geared to help if needed). Missing a raid is detrimental to you staying in the guild. Not as fun an environment, but that way they have the same people raiding constantly so that they know each other's limitations and play style, which makes their raids way efficient. When they recruit they either take someone in who is well geared so they know that person can handle the instances they're raiding, or they take someone on a test run and deliberately screw up so they know that person can handle their class.
Also be careful of those who would only use your guild as a stepping stone to a better guild. They'll come, take your loot, and then apply to other guilds. Those always suck.  ;)
So you might want to reconsider what you want your guild to be. Fun and casual, more often than not, does not lead to a powerful raiding guild, unfortunately. =( Try seeing how your guild would react to not only doing the fun instances like ZG/MC/Ony, but also with at least setting aside a day for the whole guild to work on some of the BC instances. (And like you saw, the strats floating around on sites such as this one is great for helping guild members know what they have to do before going in)--User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 04:17, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
All I would add is... what do YOU want out of WoW? Sassy mentions it, but I'd like to stress it: Raiding "seriously" is a different kind of "fun", and is not for everyone. Raiding gets you into challenging fights that you wouldn't otherwise see. But the downside is that it also limits you to repeating those fights past the point they are novel. Add the risk (over time, the certainty) that today's Obsessed-over, Top Rung gear may be tomorrow's "I wasted time for that?", and you may find yourself enjoying the game less over time.
... or you may enjoy the game more, having gear you know that only a small minority of the population has. It all depends. --Eirik Ratcatcher 02:02, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I have ultimately decided the best solution. We have split our guild in half, a division based upon those who play casually and those who wish for endgame. We have formed a seperate guild that is still allied with our former (and shares resources) but is specifcally endgame oriented to better pool our resources and efforts towards those goals. Since we've already established a strong family type environment, we're applying the same principles to our raiding guild, by making it where we try to be as fair as possible without requiring people to attend 10 million raids to be eligible for great gear (Doing Loot Council style distribution). I think ultimately we had to create our own endgame environment before we had our members leave for one. You can get good gear anywhere, but a family is hard to find. Vendors - Do they reset?

I recently acquired an item that had gem sockets and i wanted to purchase some gems to use in the new item. I did some research on this site and found what I was looking for (great site). I went to the vendor and he did not have any gems for sale. I was wondering if vendor's reset and how often? Please help!

-- Marielos 13:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

It's not that the vendors reset, its that the item becomes available again. And it varies on what the item is...there is no default cooldown time for the limited amount sold items. Some could take 24hrs, others just 1 hour, a few even just 10mins. Only way to know the actual cooldown time of the item is to buy it, and wait by the vendor rechecking every 10mins till it reappears. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 19:27, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Yar, those items are called "limited supply" items. And you can tell what those are by a number indicating how much of them a vendor has to sell. As an example there are a ton of profession recipes/schematics/etc around the world that also do this. Limited sale recipe. Perhaps we should create other pages that indicate more of these items? Since there's a lot of items that are also limited, like your gem. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 04:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Night Elf Origion Theory

I once read somewhere, I believe in the main site lore section, that it is rumored that Night Elves are descended off-shoots of Trolls. Considering the presence of trolls in ancient times, and actually preceeding that of the night elf empires, this theory is actually a possibility. However other than the short stub, I have found no source of information to possibly substantiate this claim (other than it was posted on the official WoW site) or to disprove it. I'd love to see if anyone could possibly reference me to pages relating to this rumor, and help me try to discover the truth behind this. I'm sure pvp Night Elves will hate finding out they share origions with trolls.

-- Vicera 23:54, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

PvP Night Elves who roleplay to the extreme, yes. Brann Bronzebeard claimed that's true at some point I just can't place it... As it is nothing more than speculations and occasional mentions of it here and there, I'd prefer you or anyone else not to post it in the Night Elf page Bajo 20:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Were you referring to Troll/Elf_Lineage for the page you found here? Other pages you might want to read are Warcraft forums, Tooskatribe, plwg.com, dlc (that last one has a cool pic you might like). Lots of pages online doing the speculating with the same information on this site. They just can do it with a little more flair since they're personal websites. =D --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 08:42, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

The graphics of what? WoWWiki? WoW? --SWM2448 18:41, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

graphics of wow—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Encelade (talk · contr).

You shouldn't expect graphics to rival that of 7th generation platforms (PS3, XBOX 360, etc.) since the development of WoW pre-dates them. The graphics are in my opinion fine, they have a very stylized look, which is what was intended. The graphics if you turn the settings to maximum (which if you're a fan of PC games with higher quality graphics I am sure you can handle) then WoW can be gorgeous. If you're running on a low end machine where you must disable several video settings for performance reasons it may not be as sharp or beautiful. The main thing is WoW isn't about graphics, it's about gameplay. If I want outstanding graphics, I'll watch a movie like LotR, in a game I could care less if the character was a colored ascii symbol, it's all about how it plays, not how it looks. The only issue I dislike about the graphics is one that plagues most 3D RPGs, Clipping (Especially since I'm pretty sure 0.01% of gear in WoW were designed to look GOOD on trolls) Vicera 14:48, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
While I respect your opinion, what do you want us to do about it? WoWWiki is not a forum.--SWM2448 18:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I think the graphics render pretty damn good on my computer. What kind of graphics card do you have? --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 20:11, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I guess he doesn't understand what stylized is. WOW didn't aim for realism because it would take away from game play. I look at it this way, people who don't play WOW because of the graphics are not people you really want to play WOW with. Its obvious they aren't clued into what makes a game good User:Sharlin/Sig 13:48, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

WoW's graphics isn't it's strong side, really. WoW relies on good interface, great surroundings, good environment, countless players that you can interact with and more. Even the graphics can be absolutely GORGEOUS with a very good graphics card and high resolution and details, for example Eversong Woods, or Nagrand, or Un'Goro. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bajo (talk · contr).

  • Sure, it would look gorgeous; but it'll be unplayable on 70% of the world's computers. Melaisis 21:15, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Forum Ban?

I dont often post in the official forums, but I returned to them after not visiting them for some months (to idle my time during server maintennance) and I discovered a message saying I had been permanently banned from posting in the forum for allegedly posting a link to a hack/cheat site. First of all I dont recall posting a link to any site at all, and secondly I do not use, condone, or reccomend the use of hacks/cheats as they lessen the experience and cause unbalanced gameplay especially in an MMO. I have tried searching for a way to contact blizzard, but I cannot find the "relevant" contact information regarding this request. Is there any way I could possibly hope to contact blizzard and lift this permanent ban from the forums?

Have you searched for the postings under your characters' names? Perhaps you can find out which link you posted they consider a hack. Their code of conduct page shows that you get no warning, just a ban for what you said happened. There are a couple of e-mail addresses at the bottom if you'd like to inquire a GM/or the forums dudes about what happened. Also, like Coobra mentioned, the support site has an e-mail form which you can use to inquire as well. Might want to choose "Account Action Inquiry" or something to that effect. Good luck. =/ --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 22:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the link to the support site, I have appealed my ban and hopefully I'll get some resolution from it. I didn't bother to attempt to search for the offending post as most likely given the nature of the alleged reason I was banned, the post in question would have been removed or edited. Thanks again Vicera 17:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I just wanted to let you know that there are also other options in case you feel that Blizzard wrongly banned you. It's pretty much impossible to get Blizzard to reconsider or even discuss bans with their customers. This is partially understandable since most people that are banned (wrongly or not) will usually contact Blizzard about it and Blizzard of course does not have the time or motivation to filter out the few people that were actually wrongfully banned. The only realistic way that I know of to get your account unbanned is to file an official complaint against Blizzard Entertainment and/or Vivendi Games at the Better Business Bureau. The BBB will then take your complaint and send it to the correct people at Blizzard or Vivendi and they are usually way more effective in getting information or at least some type of response then if you attempt to contact them directly. Further information and complaint filing system can be found at www.bbb.org
I hope that helps you (and anyone else that was wrongfully banned).

Hey all of you ;)

I’m a girl - surprise! And I am totally in to WoW - ofc ;) (have been that for about 2 years now ) I am also making a lot of art - with modelviewer and the actual game as inspiration. NOW! ... The question is just: "How many girls play WoW?"

And I have to add. ...: "How many girls - that like their looks, so much that the use a lot of time in front of the mirror, do you know that play WoW ??"

Because I am apparently not looking like some typical WoW-Girl-Gamer... xD my bf is also playing lots of comp. - and that is also a little non-typical - if you ask a lot of gamers ;)

(Specifically when I go to any netcafé - all of the boys are looking at me - and questioning me a lot!)

So... plz help me find out if I am a little alone here ;)

A little theory about the Burning Legion and Malygos in WOTLK.

Today, I was fondly remembering the Highlord Kruul massacres outside the major cities just before TBC. I had a quick glance at the page, and I notice the quote about him looking for the Aspect Shards. As people to their dismay discovered, Highlord Kruul did not camp out in the Tainted Scar where Kazzak was, but instead he just disappeared.

So here's my silly speculation. Since Kruul probably grabbed Burning Legion reinforcements from Outland before the Alliance and Horde siezed the Dark Portal, perhaps he went on a trek to Northrend to fight against the Lich King? And whilst there, he discovers the Aspect Shard of Malygos, whatever it is... which somehow actually lets him -control- Malygos, or possess him, or something similar. From here, he forces Malygos to declare his 'war on magic users', which I seriously doubt Malygos would normally do considering the odds are stacked against him, especially since the Red Dragonflight are opposing him. With Malygos under his command and thus a host of Blue Dragons, it'd be a nice concept of continuing the Burning Legion storyline in Wrath of the Lich King, considering that Kil'jaeden doesn't seem to die in the Sunwell Plateau raid.

Of course, this is just a lore idiot speaking. I haven't read any of the novels, merely just the information on the Wiki. Any thoughts on this, or am I just a raving fool? -- Althallen 18:05, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I can't claim to be a true savant on the lore (although I apparently surpass anyone in my guild) but I think the major plots involving the Burning Legion campaign are intended to be finished as of 2.4. The Wrath of the Lich King seems more aimed at focusing back on the loose ends left over by Frozen Throne (which I haven't played but am well aware of the story arc). I do think that there will be some world event on scale or larger than that of the Opening of the Dark Portal, however I think it will be wholly relevant to the major campaign in WotLK, which is that of the battle vs. The Scourge. I was not yet into Warcraft at the time of the BC release and so unfortunately have yet to experience a major event such as Dark Portal or AQ gate opening, but I think the best way to view Kruul, while no canonical evidence exists to support the rumor, is that he was "killed off" during the assault on the Dark Portal by Horde and Alliance forces, thereby severing the Legion's commanders in Azeroth. It would seem to me from the standpoint of the Horde/Alliance that this would be the most logical explanation, as any army would secure first their homeland from invaders before staging an assault against their holdings elsewhere. While pockets of Legion still exist in Azeroth, they are for the most part lacking true leadership and thus fear of their mobilization takes a backseat worry to that of the large contingent of Legion forces in Outland. Farming for Epic Mount (ground)

So, I'm playing a level 61 shaman, and I have yet to get my epic mount. I intend to get a Black War Wolf (I need 10 more WSG marks, but that'll be easy to get). The training should cost about 480g (600g for training normally, with 20% discount as I'm Revered with Orgrimmar). So, I've been farming. Ah, but farming what? Thorium. Can I get a massive 'duh' here? But you know the Burning Steppes. Though it's the place where you'll get the most thorium, if you come before ~9:00 PM you're likely to get beaten by the competition. It's a tooth-and-nail scrabble for the nodes, often with opposing factions whooping you for stealing their ore (Guilty as charged. What'll you do, bring me to Orgrimmar so they can promote me?). I once killed the same rogue 15 times, in the same spot, at the same level, at the same times. 90 honor at that. He just kept on coming--I think he was a gold farmer. But I'm getting off-track. Simply, I've just reached 300 skill in Mining. Should I go to Outland to farm Fel Iron? Naturally, I've been there before, and seen how much of it there is--but the mobs are everywhere, opposition from Alliance is even GREATER, and Fel Iron sells for less than thorium (30g/stack as opposed to 40 for Thorium). Will it be worth it? I usually get two-three stacks of Thorium every two hours in the Steppes, in addition to massive amounts of mithril and dark iron. ...not that it matters, as I've already got 420g off of other endeavors, including buying and relisting thorium in bar form for a profit of 10g/stack...but for future reference, would it be better to go to Outland instead of fighting desperately in the Steppes? Thanks.

-- Shinsen 20:24, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

If I understand correctly, you're just farming thorium for money? If that's the case, please stop. =) Doing quests and leveling in the outlands will give you tons of money not to mention xp. And then while you're there you can be mining fel iron and then later adamantite/khorium. And with those mines you get motes, which also sell well. By the time you're 70 you should also be able to afford your first flying mount just by questing. =) Good luck! --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 06:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Epic ground mount. As per the subject. A flying mount will be no problem if I mine thorium, or better yet Fel Iron and Khorium and Adamantium. --Shinsen 13:54, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
If you quest and don't spend any money besides training spells, you should have you epic land about when you're finishing up Zangar. User:Tekkub/Sig 10:40, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Exactly.
I can't wait that long >.<
It's been two days mining thorium and I have 420g. Welll...I will have 420g if my investments pay off. I'm on a trip w/o internet for the Easter Holidays. I've got a crapload of ore listed, along with ores I smelted into bars and relisted for a 10g profit. Added with a few OL greens, dense stone, and jewels, I will have around 420g when I get home. I don't know what you did for your epics, but 2g for an hour-long quest isn't appealing when I could get 40g's worth of ore in the same amount of time, not counting the countless mithril. But none of the comments answer the question--which would be better? Should I go to Outland where the mobs are stronger (yet the ore is less contested), or should I stay in the Steppes where the ore's more contested but worth more gold? I AM going to mine for my epic. I've found it to be at lest 10x as effective as questing, and though it may be dependant on how progressive you are, this is what I am going to do, but I'm mining. So, what do you think? --Shinsen 13:58, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Then it sounds like you have it all in hand. If mining thorium works for you, then by all means, continue. But I think our point was that at some point you're going to have to level to 70 anyway. And questing to 70 will net you enough money to buy your flying epic, which means you'll have the money to buy your epic ground. You'll also have the opportunity to mine the Outland mines, which may not be as pricey, but like you noted, aren't as camped. So it's really a toss-up for you. Go with what works. =) --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 02:58, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

(Outdent) Also, one other thing. Not sure what it's like on your server, but on mine un-smelted thorium/mithril are more sought after because they can be prospected.  ;) Just something else to think about. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 03:01, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, but on my server the bars are worth more, by about 10g. I make a crapload of money just smelting ore I buy (50g a day on a good day). People are just too lazy, I guess, and there aren't too many jewelcrafters on my server.
However, since I didn't play JC very long, I didn't know the prospecting thing. Thanks for the information! --Shinsen 17:12, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Asked my bf what he would sell as a miner. He told me Adamantite sold the best for him period. Because Thorium people only buy while they're leveling (although granted they do buy it), but Adamantite, people are constantly buying (Leveling blacksmithing, weightstones for others, prospecting, etc) and unsmelted. So might want to look into that too. But again, that requires you to level your mining as well as yourself.  ;) Or you might want to consider a loan program with a guildie. Where you just borrow the money from them since once you get the mount the faster you'll be able to get the ore you'll be selling. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 07:30, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

What about the good, old 'Iron Fishing Rod' trick off the shores of Desolace, eh? 35-50 gold a pop on the more populated servers. Melaisis 21:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Not so much anymore, with Inv fishingpole 01 [Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole] so easy to get... I was trying to sell my big iron when I got that to replace it, and nobody bought even at 10g. --Azaram 04:18, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Troll Regeneration and Hitting 70

I don't want to spam the whole page with questions, so I'll combine two separate ones in this posting.

First off, I am a troll warrior (Prot Tank). I have noticed Trolls are not the most popular choice for warrior tanks, Tauren being the primary choice, and orc coming in second (at least on my server). I am assuming this has to do with the racial abilities. Tauren have better initial tanking stats (although I think at lvl 70 after gear the differences are negligible) and the war stomp. Orcs have bloodfury as well as expertise in axes (second most popular choice for tanks). Even Undead have the resistance and immunity trait that can benefit tanks. As far as I can tell the majority of troll racials are more beneficial to a hunter class (bow and thrown specialization and +damage to beasts). Berserking allows me to get a slight edge during boss pulls since it gives me slightly increased threat generation per hit (although I don't think it has any effect on global cooldowns). So the one racial trait I am left with is Regeneration, which is a racial trait I am very interested in. A lot of people I believe overlook the potential benefit of in-battle regeneration, but even at high levels I can witness a significant bonus given. My question is how much bearing does spirit have on affecting the regeneration racial? And if it does have a bearing would it be worthwhile to potentially sacrifice other tank stats for spirit to increase in-battle regeneration?

For my second question, I am as of this writing lvl 69 (12 bars left, woot!) and this is my highest level character to date. As I hit 70 there's a huge amount of money I will need to farm for various purchases (Gear, Enchantments, Flying Mount, etc.) Throughout my levelling I had been arms/fury, and only recently switched to prot tanking spec (although I've read extensively and talked to other raiding level prot warriors, so I know how to play one). One thing I know for sure is solo farming pretty much ANYTHING in Outland as a prot warrior sucks big time because the kill rate is so slow and the downtime between battles really cuts into you. I've decided to collect the materials for crafting the Flame Guard set since my guild has decided they wish to farm Onyxia and Molten Core(need 10 more Primal Fire and 14 more Primal Water) after a few frustrating attempts at farming I drew the conclusion that with my low damage output and the competition on mote farming, that I'd be better off farming the gold for the primals instead. I have decided that it's in my guild's best interests if I get my 70 tank gear before focusing on getting my flying mount. So with my spec in mind, I am a 335 enchanter, and have one free profession slot (I have Blacksmithing but never leveled it very far), what extra Profession (other than mining) can help me gain some money rather quickly? I also would be interested in knowing the best ways I could go about farming money for my tank gear? I'm not as fond of running instances with others to farm money (I like to solo for gold, it just makes farming way easier in my opinion). So can anyone give me any pointers?

Also in a related note, I have figured up that once I have my initial tanking set, I will have apx. 200 fire resistance, is this adequate to tank Onyxia, BWL, and MC?

-- Vicera 11:10, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I won't tackle the first, I have a few sources to go check but most people don't care about racials unless they provide some kind of to hit bonus. As far as the second, what profession to make money. Any gathering profession makes money. Some gathering skills benefit from flying mounts more than others. The key to a gathering profession is to know where the items your farming spawn and then having a efficient route in patrolling them. In other words, plug-ins like Cartographer and Routes will make any harvesting profession worthwhile. Of the end product professions only Engineering is cheap to level compared to its potential payoff, by potential I mean mote farming (325+ engineering).
As a warrior I would get a gathering profession. Mining will be a bit easier in 2.4 as smelting will provide more skill ups than it does now. Mining opens up the door for motes of fire and motes of earth. Herbalism is nice as well but only motes of life come off of plants but later on you can get fel lotus drops which are needed for flasks. User:Sharlin/Sig 11:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
After discussing it with a few of my 70 friends, I decided the best route would be to go with Skinning, as it requires no cost to train beyond the initial training deposit, and high level leather (Clefthoof Leather) sells for a substantial sum on my server, with about a day's work I can level my skinning easily up to level to skin high level mobs, and so I feel this is the best route for me to pursue short-term until I find alternative income sources. I had done mining before and had it up to 270 before I dropped it for enchanting (which is now 335), so I didn't want to go through the effort required to level it back up to that level. Thank you for your input however :) Vicera 17:15, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
As far as skinning goes, check your server's AH to see what Inv misc leatherscrap 11 [Heavy Knothide Leather] sells for in comparison to regular (remembering that it takes 5 reg to make 1 heavy). Because HKL is used in the armor patches, I used to throw them up in the AH in 4's for ridiculous sums of money, and people would buy them. Because it was cheaper than buying a full stack. =) Although having had all the professions... I would agree with Sharlin and say that Mining made me the most money.  ;) Herbalism coming in a close second. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 21:31, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Well skinning doesn't require you to make things, so I guess that is what you meant. It also requires you to kill things or be around people doing so who also don't skin. As such it is more time consuming. User:Sharlin/Sig 10:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Regarding your first question: I can hardly imagine Spirit being worth it for any Troll. Health regen formulas can be found here. According to this page, every point of Spirit gives your warrior an additional health regen of 0.0275 hp/sec, which is close to nothing. I have done the calculations for my characters, and the result was that the regen was ridiculously low. Besides, the main benefit of the Tauren's 5% hp boost is not that you can survive longer, because a small heal would make up for that already; instead, it's the buffer it provides. Troll's regeneration is steady and the additional 500-1000 health in a 10 minutes battle does in no way make up for the sacrificed stats. Investing the budget in stats that increase your DPS (and hence your threat/second) allows your group/raid to do more overall DPS, which reduces the duration of the battle and probably provides more extra health (due to a shorter battle) than any amount of Spirit could.
IMHO, Regeneration is the worst of all racials, and has absolutely no uses, be it in PvE, PvP, solo or group play. It's mostly a remnant of early WoW. Not without a reason the Druid's and the Shaman's in-combat regen providing talents were removed from the game. --bfx 13:38, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I had thought to ask since in combat with lower level mobs (like 5 levels or below) I tend to recover about half of my lost HP by the end of the combat.... on mobs 15 or more levels below me I actually regenerate more health than I lost in-combat, although I think that by looking at the tables that spirit won't really increase this regeneration very significantly above the base regen. I could probably boost it by a possible 5% using spirit gear and enchants, although this would seriously hinder my tanking skills. I thought perhaps if I could boost my regen to a potential 10% per minute then sacrificing a few tank stats might be worth it. In the end I guess I need to accept that troll racial skills are not best befitting a warrior, although as I read somewhere before, in the long run you should choose the race you want to play, and as trolls are my preferred choice, I am still happy with my troll tank :) Vicera 17:15, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
There's no question about it, trolls rock. :) I'm quite happy with my legion of trolls as well. --bfx 06:08, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
That number doesn't seem right to me. It's (Spirit * 0.50 + 6)/20 per second in combat. So with 200 spirit (which shouldn't be hard to get to, if you aren't over it naturally), that's (100+6)/20 or 5.3 health per second. Which isn't very much, but that's at a relatively low spirit. It may be feasible (although I wouldn't count on it), but it's not quite as bad as Bfx stated. --Bobson 21:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
My number is quite similar to yours (5.5 vs. 5.3). I included the 10% Regeneration bonus, and I left the base value out (as this one is there regardless of how much Spirit you have). I still find that too negligible to be of any use, and gearing for it makes even less sense to me. A very basic example: Assume you have 100 item stat points to spend for a stat. Player A uses 100 Spirit, whereas player B uses 150 Stamina (which is, according to Formulas:Item Values, equally much in terms of item values). As a result, A gains 2.75 health/second in-combat regen, whereas B gains a one-time health increase of 1500. In order for A to get as much health of his Spirit as B gets from his Stamina, the minimum combat duration would have to be (1500/2.75 =) 545 seconds, which is more than 9 minutes. However, you have to take into account, that (1) many ticks may have no effect due to you A having full health, and (2) B reduces the risk of dying of burst damage. Furthermore, probably no one would take STA merely for the purpose of getting "extra healing". I'm not familiar with melee stats (STR/AGI/AP/etc.) and their impact on the tanking capabilities, but I'm quite sure both offensive stats (for reduced combat duration and hence less required healing) and defensive stats (for higher damage mitigation) are more beneficial than the regen. No matter how much Spirit you have, the extra life from Regeneration should not make a big difference, considering how much total healing you get in such a long fight. --bfx 10:47, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Fire Resistance Vs. Lava?

I'm a Troll Warrior (70, finally) wearing some significant Fire Resistance Gear (Full Flame Guard Set + Seal of Ascension + Drakefire Amulet = 163 Fire Resist). One thing I tested in RFC is the ability to withstand lava with Fire Resistance Gear. I swam in lava and noticed a fairly even 510 DPS on me. Then I removed all my fire resistance gear, went in again....... same exact DPS. Apparently fire resistance has no bearings on Lava. Yet this seems to go against the logic that you use fire resistance potions when soloing BRD for the MC attunement (when you swim in the lava). Is there a seperate formula that governs Resistance given from potions as given from equipment?

This isn't a big issue, but I'm interested in learning whether or not there are any modifiers that truly affect damage taken from lava? After I had removed my resistance gear I would have thought that even if fire resistance didn't negate the lava my armor would have, but found out that both the armor bonus as well as the fire resistance of my items did not have any effect upon the damage I took.

-- Vicera 19:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I've personally haven't bothered to notice in a couple years (since MC was a big thing) but perhaps what the FR would let you do is swim farther than you normally would be able to? Because you'd resist some of the 510s? So if it hit, yes it'd be 510 and ow, but since you're in some gear you'd resist more of it than normal? And yeah, armor wouldn't matter in this case either. Which is why if you're helping a babier friend and soloing instances, as a warrior/druid you )#(*$)!$ the heck out of the casters first. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 20:04, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Heh, FR doesn't help with torches in Orgrimmar either, it doesn't matter, fire resistance was meant for combat only, not fooling around being impervious to lava lol -- Bajo 15:30, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

So what we're basically getting at here is "Fire Resistance" only applies to magical fire. ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 18:29, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Exactly... its not like Nature Resistance is going to protect you from falling towards the earth either. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 19:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
After some further exploring of it, I discovered my error, I had origionally thought that Fire Resistance mitigated the damage received thereby making you take less damage from fire, instead it increases your ability to "duh!" resist the effect. After some further exploration in lava I discovered I do last longer with high FR than without as I frequently receive no damage during a second where I normally would take full damage. Also I noticed during my recent Onyxia attempt I seemed to take no noticeable health loss (beyond her normal attacks) during her Deep Breath. Vicera 07:18, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Souvenirs

Hey all. I've been doing lots of exploring lately (31 Nelf druid) and on my travels I came across Tainted Arcane Silver on Sunstrider isle. and I thought it would be pretty awesome to make a collection.

What I'm asking is, what should I get? Tainted Arcane silver is useless to me. but its a Belf only quest and thus gives it more value. is there anything similar for the other races of the Horde? it has to be from starting area as that's the whole point lol -- KingStoph 03:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

What are you asking? You want a list of items that are not nailed down in starting areas?--SWM2448 23:42, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
There's not really many quest items in starter areas for Horde. If you're a collector type I'd suggest collecting things that are not easy to get, or are very rare. One of my personal favorite things to collect is Dungeon 2 set pieces for my 70 Troll Warrior, not of any immense use with better gear available, but you feel like you truly accomplished something in collecting them. Other things people collect are vanity pets (I have 9 myself), holiday items, and even more useful things like gems. I bought a gem bag once and despite not being a BS or a JC I filled it up with a stack of every kind of simple gem just to have my own private hoard of wealth. If you end up like me, where I have the Timbermaw Exalted Trinket, the firework from the TCG, a complete Dungeon 2 set, and vanity pets from LBRS, people are actually rather impressed (working on collecting Quel'serrar now) Vicera 07:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Onyxia and Nefarian Head

Greetings, I play a horde character, and one thing I was curious about was if you were to attain both Inv misc head dragon black [Head of Nefarian] as well as Inv misc head dragon 01 [Head of Onyxia] and turned them in would they both appear side by side in Orgrimmar or would one overwrite the other? I think it would be awesome to have both their heads up at the same time, just curious if anyone knows what happens if one head is turned in before another is taken down? Also is there a way to tell which Dragon it is that's killed? Does the orc next to the head post say the same thing regardless of which it is?

-- Vicera 07:30, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

They both show, on different poles. I've seen both up at the same time, and turned in Onyxia's noggin while Nefarian was there. The dragons look different, so it is possible to tell. Been a long time, but I think Onyxia is more blue and black and Nefarian is red and black. --Azaram 02:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, we're kind of just getting our start into endgame content, and we wanted to do something big to advertise our guild, and we figured that two big dragon head's in the middle of the city is the best way to say "we're hardcore" Vicera 03:08, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Party Time!

So far theres Inv cask 04 [Brewfest Pony Keg] and some kind of BBQ (loot card) that would be handy for some kind of party. Pony keg gets your infinate brewfest brews and the BBQ gets you grilled snacks. both are totaly useless.

Anyone suggest anything else? ill make a page on it once theres enought items.-- KingStoph 14:40, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

There's also picnic baskets. Two kinds I think. --Bobson 17:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Some sort of party guide? Well, Inv misc flute 01 [Piccolo of the Flaming Fire] forces people to dance.--SWM2448 18:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
So we're looking for things you can set up in one spot so people can click on it? Because alcohol all over Azeroth/Outland will get you drunk. =D and you can hand them out in said spot. The BBQ you were thinking of is the Inv box 01 [Picnic Basket] that Bobson mentioned. And the other one he mentioned is the Inv misc basket 01 [Romantic Picnic Basket]. Also around is Inv drink 17 [Goblin Gumbo Kettle] that will let people burp green fire for a bit. =D

Epic Tanking Gear?

While I personally have some insight into what the best epic items are for tanking, I have yet to find a definitive list of epic quality items specifically with tanks in mind, or good for tanks. I am not necessarily looking for a list of ALL items as much as more of a list of all epic one-handed weapons and shields that are good for warrior tanks, and paladin tanks (Feral tanks tend to do better with 2H maces, like Inv hammer 10 [Earthwarden]. I was curious if anyone has a list beginning from like lvl 50 up of all epic quality warrior weapons? I've been collecting many myself, beginning with my first, Quel'serrar (which isn't very easy to get >.<) and would like to continue this collection further. Plus I find it very hard to find good shields available for 70 warriors pre-raid oddly... it all seems geared toward paladins.

Perhaps a Tanking Items page should be considered for addition?

-- Vicera 16:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I will give you links to the best site you can read to know what works and doesn't. These guys take anal-retentive mini-max play to the extreme. How can you reach max avoidance and this thread Specific to Protection Warriors are great reading. I will warn you that participation on those threads is about contributing further to the understanding of what already is there, not answering your questions because failed to read what already was written.
See the biggest issue is that too many people are doing what you did in your question, focusing on quality of the item instead of the item's qualities. By that I mean, what stats actually mean diddly to a tanking warrior/druid. Too many people see purple and automatically assume its better yet a great example is my Paladin who has that blue sword from BEM (forget its name) that is hard to replace until late in progression. Learning what stats are important and what talents will help you choose what items are important and more importantly why they are important. When I have people criticize my gear choices I can quickly come to and understanding of their knowledge of the game and how to treat them. User:Sharlin/Sig 10:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
I do not personally disdain the actual usefulness of an item by it's color quality, I too use a blue now, yet I think listing all tanking weapons would be a considerably large list, the number of epic tanking weapons alone is quite large, and pretty much as soon as you enter 70Endgame, you'll only find epic items as upgrades since all items are of that quality. Narrowing it down by quality is similar to producing a list of "all legendary items", or "Black Temple Drops" instead of a very large list of every weapon that happens to have a desireable tank stat. If this were to be added at all, it would have to be more coherent than simply "This is everything". - Vicera 13:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Come November, or when ever the next expansion comes out, people will be tanking in greens again User:Sharlin/Sig 10:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
As soon as I saw "These guys take anal-retentive mini-max play to the extreme" I thought to myself... that sounds like EJ.  ;) Hovered over and whaddya know? Shar throwing this page at you will probably do you a world of good if you can wrap your head around their charts, graphs, comparisons, percentages, reasonings etc. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 06:23, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you stop patches from automaticly downloading?

I was wondering can you stop patches from automaticly Downloading and try again latter and still play WoW. Please answer back! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spacetime08 (talk · contr).

Nope. If the game's trying to download a patch, you'll have to download it if you want to log in to the game realms. If you're having problems with the Blizzard Downloader, you can always get patches from one of the patch mirrors. --k_d3 21:21, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
That's all true once a patch has been fully released. There's no legitimate way to prevent the short download during the login sequence, and any patch that has been fully released must be installed before you can connect to the servers. It's against EULA/TUA not to use the latest fully released patch. You can, however, control some of the behaviour of the Blizzard Downloader which downloads partial patches in advance (most of the patch data except a final small portion kept until release day). There are options in the WoW Launcher application which control if/when the Blizzard Downloader will run, and it's entirely up to you if/when you download the patch data prior to release day. There are also some options regarding bandwidth and peer to peer mode inside the downloader itself. Of course, if you disable or stop the advance download, you'll have a huge mandatory download on release day, so it's a good idea to let it run at some point (not during game play unless you have a suitably fast and high quality Internet connection). --User:Murph/Sig 22:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

What if your on an Private server will the Patches still come on beacuse your not using Blizzards Server? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spacetime08 (talk · contr).

I've been all about the Internet, this place included, and even use Fizzwidget Hunter's Helper...and apparently, there is absolutely not one single mob in the entire game that teaches Charge (Rank 4)! Now, I sincerely want to be corrected here...but I'm worried no one's gonna be able to do so! So...what's the score? ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 14:15, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

That is correct, there is no Rank 4 of Charge. Doing a WoWhead search brings up the 6 Ranks, but only Rank 4 has no boars using it.--g0urra[T҂C] 14:25, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Talk about an oversight... hey maybe the new boars in northrend will teach rank4 rather than 7, just to further mess with hunters... Apparently, Gore 5 and 6 are missing, too... How could this have happened? Does Blizzard hate boars or something? ;P ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 22:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, yes they do... they tease hunters too, no boar for joo. Putting only demon boars in outland... /sigh. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 23:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Someone on the Hunter forums for WoW put it this way, and since it makes sense, I'll post it for you (unless that was you that posted the initial q there too.  ;)). "There are no tameable boars between level 26 and level 48. Thus, there is no rank 4 of Charge. For the same reason, there is no rank 5 or 6 of Gore.[1]" --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 21:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, viewing your user page, I guess that was you.  ;) Well in case you didn't see the response someone gave to you there, it's here too. =D --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 21:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I put it there, too. Kind of didn't pay it much attention, though. Anyway, while I can't argue it makes sense, I don't understand why you can't learn those specific ranks from trainers or something with the prerequisite of knowing Rank 3 and Rank 4 of Charge and Gore respectively. Ya know? Just some food for thought. ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 04:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Having not ever leveled a Hunter I wouldn't know if it's possible to buy abilities from Trainers, but it does make sense for them to put that in game the way you suggest. Since they're not going to put it there anyway, why not let you purchase it once you hit those levels, or do a quest for it, or something. Ah well. Someone in the Hunter Camp at Blizz dropped the ball.  ;) "Where'd I put that bit of code in my hard drive? ... Ah well. N'exist pas!" --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 06:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Nothrend travel made easy

Though it hasn't been confirmed where exactly the ship (for alliance) leaves from it was speculated to be theramore. And Although I'm not going to edit anything till it is official, I think the new teleport/portals that mages will get with 2.4.2 is basically confirming it.

Level 35 Alliance mages can learn Teleport: Theramore, Portal: Theramore, and level 35 Horde mages can learn Teleport: Stonard and Portal: Stonard. Find Ysuria <Portal Trainer> at the base of the tower of Theramore, or Lorrin Foxfire <Portal Trainer> in Stonard.

As for the horde's teleport/portal to stonard, thats to make traveling to outland easier for the horde, due to the zeps going to be outside their major cities anyway.
