== Wowstreet images ==

My site, [http://wowstreet.ajs.com/wowstreet wowstreet.ajs.com] now produces on-the-fly pricing history charts. They're licensed under CC-By-SA-3.0 and available via the following URL:

<nowiki>http://wowstreet.ajs.com/wowstreet.png?i=ITEMID;plot=1;w=200;h=125</nowiki>

Where you should replace "ITEMID" with the itemid from Wowhead or Thottbot, e.g. Silk cloth's chart would be:

http://wowstreet.ajs.com/wowstreet.png?i=4306;plot=1;w=200;h=125

I know that Wowwiki doesn't currently have the external image link feature turned on (it's a core MediaWiki feature), but I thought this might help anyway. All I as in the way of attribution is a link to:

<nowiki>http://wowstreet.ajs.com/wowstreet?i=ITEMID</nowiki>

again, with silk cloth that would be:

http://wowstreet.ajs.com/wowstreet?i=4306

either from the image itself (usually not possible with MediaWiki... grumble) or on the image description page if you upload the image. While it's possible to request larger images, I ask that people not place these large images on their sites, as the bandwidth hit to me would be substantial. -[[User:Deepone|Deepone]] 16:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Is there something we can drop/move to put in a link to Reputation as it is a major focus of the game? Perhaps replace Events under game play?

--User:Sharlin/Sig 13:21, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

That seems fair to me - I can't see anything else that can really be replaced. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 10:54, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
The columns are neat all even and everything, but it won't hurt anything to have them uneven. --GRYPHONtc 15:07, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps replacing Factions under Character would be better. Reputation is what people normally view the subject as User:Sharlin/Sig 21:33, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Done! User:Kirkburn/Sig3 01:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Search Box

Could the search box be moved to the top of the left column? I have to scroll down everytime I use it. The wikipedia box is sort of where the google ads box is now. User:Drain/Sig 00:18, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

I will see about bringing it to the attention of those able to change it (again). User:Kirkburn/Sig3 01:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, people in-game have been bugging me about moving the search box up. Perhaps just under the google ads? --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 8:52 PM PDT 12 Aug 2007

Though this should be a non-issue with the new skin, for now it would certainly be sensible to have it under the wikis spotlight ('google ads') box. Sounds like another question to ask about whilst here. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 03:57, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps we should have a link via an asterisk (*) to WoWWiki:Searching in the search box? --Fandyllic (talk · contr) %:01 PM PDT 23 Aug 2007

Currently, Friday 9/7 - the entire search box side of the page is linked to flash gordon and other ads. Its broken.

What is? It's not broken for me, both logged in and out. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 18:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

It's broken for me ... if you mouseover the left column, everything highlights, and if you click the search box it takes you to the target of the current Google ad. I have to tab into the search box (rather than clicking it) to be able to search for anything. Seankreynolds 16:39, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

WoWWiki talk:Village pump#Search Boxes User:Kirkburn/Sig3 17:40, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Back on topic a little, did the powers that be decide having the search box on the bottom of the screen is silly? That left column is getting longer and longer. Putting search above google ads would be great.--User:Drain/Sig 00:12, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

With the upcoming new skin, this will become a problem of the past :) Kirkburn  talk  contr 11:52, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

World links change

I've switched Worlds for Warcraft Universe as a title (to give better RTS, etc. links) and moved it to replace Instances, which is already linked in the guides section. User:Kirkburn/Sig3

Reducing height

Many people complain about the space the contents box takes up (pushing down other interesting stuff), so I've been fidlling with a test version to try and reduce it - see User:Kirkburn/Dev2. It has 4 columns. Any thoughts? User:Kirkburn/Sig3 01:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I have moved onto doing a rather more thorough overhaul - see User:Kirkburn/Dev3. Much more modular, allows new sections to be added more easily. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 02:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Missing quote in code

I posted this on the village pump too, but I see the page is live so I'll cross post it here. There's a missing quote on a style param that's making the left and right sides uneven. Firefox is handling it fine and making the columns even, but Safari doesn't handle it. The offending code is here:

<!--

BEGIN LEFT COLUMN

-->
| valign="top" style="width:50%; |<!--

Last line should be:

| valign="top" style="width:50%;" |<!--

Official WoWWiki PL

I suggest adding the link to the largest Polish WoW Wiki on the main page (along links to fr de and others). That Wiki is hosted by the only official Polish fansite of WoW and has currently the largest amount of articles. WoWWiki PL Jcdx 17:31, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Official? Looks like a fansite to me. --GRYPHONtc 17:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Please read before you write. I stated "official Polish fansite" as can be seen here on Blizz fansite listing Jcdx 16:48, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Largest Polish wowwiki? I don't suppose there are many out there, judging from http://worldofwarcraft.com.pl/mediawiki/index.php/Specjalna:Mostrevisions compared with our own Special:Mostrevisions. Certainly the community there is rather small. Schmidt 21:56, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it's the largest one. And if it won't be linked tell me how can it grow? People need to be aware of the project and many Polish players visit this Wiki. Many of them don't know English too fluently so Polish version would help them. And why do you compare an old and well-known multi-national resource like wowwiki.com with us? There are users working to make wowwiki pl a better site. Every community starts small and I don't think that's a reason to treat it worse. Besides, Polish Wikia IS linked on the main page here. And it sports awesome number of 7 articles. We have over 300 of them and no link. Spanish Wiki (fetured on the main page): 96 articles. So what's the problem with our, Polish? :(Jcdx 01:22, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Anyhoo, I have added it :) User:Kirkburn/Sig3 01:30, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Ah, thanks! I hope it will motivate our contributors, too! Jcdx 01:33, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Suggested change of featured article

I would suggest changing the featured article to Wrath of the Lich King or Death Knights. Just my two cents. ~ Peregrine

Nominate on WW:FA! :) User:Kirkburn/Sig3 04:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Why the recent redesign?

What happened to the old main page with the Featured Media on the bottom left? I'm not sure exactly why, but it seemed like it was put together better. Notice how there's a small blank space under the featured media, but everything wraps up at the bottom nicely? I don't think it would have been too hard to fill that little space up with more information and leave that design. Take a look at what I was referring to.

Now that I look back at the differences again I think to me it just seems like the Featured Media belongs on the left if the Featured Article is on the right. One solution is to swap the Featured Media and Warcraft News on the current main page. I think that would look even better than the old one! I guess they needed to change it since there's nothing more to report from BlizzCon. Wait, I think I just answered my own question. Never mind, thanks for listening to me talk to myself! Sophia™talk contr 21:46, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Heya! Mainly it was to get the wiki into a more modular design - the previous design was a bit of a hack job due to some lingering code restictions. Now that the adbox is free to do what it likes, and is higher up the page (part of the reason the Blizzcon box didn't last long), I could add new things. Part of this was to try and make the MP balanced and 'themed'. I have plans for some more stuff, but suggestions are welcome :) User:Kirkburn/Sig3 22:45, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Curious if the redesign that has completely broken the front page and the other design changes that have broken practically every article on the wiki that uses a float/table in ie7 will ever be fixed? Been well over a month now. :/ --User:Zeal/Sig 18:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

How broken? I use ie7 and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. --GRYPHONtc 18:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
There was some major CSS changes, which should easily been fixed by a Ctrl+F5 refresh, but apart from that, no problems on IE7 for me either. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 19:08, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Aha, fixed! A stray user css page :) User:Kirkburn/Sig3 19:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Patch links and more

I've added little links to the current and next patch under the logo as suggested by Laurly and Schmidt. I'm not entirely happy with the location, any suggestions? Also, the page has had a CSS makeover, with means it's now readable in monobook! :D User:Kirkburn/Sig3 12:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Amazing work, Kirkburn! Schmidt 12:18, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Problem with the Google ad

The search bar and every link under the random google advertisment is functioning as a link to the ad. --Prophet 20:59, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Interface customization reference needs ur help

I filled up complete reference for xml using default interface on this page XML_Basic. Since i'm not 100% sure what each attribute do i left that for more expirienced. Now it needs ur knowledge, especially XML_Properties page

PTR Down

Just to let you know, the Public Test Realm was taken down last night. 2.2.0 is going up some time soon, I guess. The next patch to go on the PTR is going to be 2.2.2. Source ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 17:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

In addition, PTR 2.2.2 is apparently going up some time today. So...keep an eye out. ~ Doc Lithius [U|T|C] 16:45, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
2.2.0 is out today. --User:Sky2042/Sig 07:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

WoWWkik/Wikia upgrade info link added to Main Page

See WoWWiki talk:Village pump#Upgrade time. I added a link near the top of the Main Page to this info which is also in the article WoWWiki:Upgrade Late 2007. I put the link in a nice box above the first two columns of the main box. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:37 PM PDT 17 Oct 2007

Next 200

The "next 200" links on pages with more options than can fit on a single page are not working correctly. This only affects users who are not logged in the website. If you are logged in the link will work fine. for example http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:NPCs has 2 pages but when not logged in you cannot get to the 2nd page. Russblv 00:05, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Confirmed, will add it to the server requests. Kirkburn  talk  contr 11:52, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Bugs with WoWWiki, but not with the Main Page, should go to WoWWiki talk:Server requests. Kirkburn has added the "next 200" bug to WoWWiki:Server requests#Possible/probable bugs. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contr) 7:33 PM PDT 29 Oct 2007
