Each gives you a [[Coin of Ancestry]]. Each Elder may tell you the location up to 5 other Elders in nearby [[zone]]s. You can only receive one coin per Elder. The quests for receiving coins are reset from year to year (previously, some characters were affected by a bug that made seasonal quests unrepeatable in 2007. Upon completing all of the Lunar Festival achievements, you will complete the [[World Events achievements|world event achievement]] {{achievement|To Honor One's Elders}} which gives the {{title|Elder}} title. This should be achievable by any Level 70+ player capable of completing the first part of the Northrend dungeons.

Lunar Festival
The subject of this article or section is part of the Lunar Festival, a seasonal event that lasts several weeks. Once the event has run its course, this will no longer be available until next year, but there are no guarantees.

During the Lunar Festival, there will be 75 Lunar Festival Elders spread around the world. Some are located in towns, some in instances, and some in the wild. Each gives you a Inv misc elvencoins [Coin of Ancestry]. Each Elder may tell you the location up to 5 other Elders in nearby zones. You can only receive one coin per Elder. The quests for receiving coins are reset from year to year (previously, some characters were affected by a bug that made seasonal quests unrepeatable in 2007. This issue has been corrected: the quests were reset in 2008 and were all "re-doable", and they were reset in 2009 to 2011).

Coins of Ancestry can be turned in for several tailoring and engineering patterns, as well as other items. Each coin you receive also generates 75 faction reputation with either the Horde or Alliance, for a total of 5625 for most races and 6187 for humans if all 75 Coins of Ancestry are gathered. Furthermore, each Elder you visit will send you a Inv misc luckymoneyenvelope [Lucky Red Envelope] via in-game mail which contains a Inv misc missilelargecluster white [Lucky Rocket Cluster] or an Inv misc gem pearl 04 [Elder's Moonstone]. Using the Lucky Rocket Cluster gives you the Inv misc missilelargecluster white [Lunar Fortune] buff (+250 health).

Through the Achievement system, players are rewarded for participating in the Lunar Festival. A total of 160 Achievement point achievement points are available from completing the 14 achievements. Upon completing all of the Lunar Festival achievements, you will complete the world event achievement Money achievement To Honor One's Elders which gives the <Elder> title. This should be achievable by any Level 70+ player capable of completing the first part of the Northrend dungeons.

This is in the process of being revised for 2011 as some of the elders have moved (see Discussion Page). The Elder High Mountain in Camp Turajo has moved to Vendetta Point.
