Abilities

  • Inv hand 1h 430oldgod c 01 Darkness Claw  —  Strikes the location of the primary target, dealing all nearby targets a burst of shadow damage and knocking them back a great distance.
  • Spell shadow chilltouch Touch of the Black  —  Encircles a random target in darkness that deals a burst of shadow damage slows their movement speed to 0%. This effect is reduced by 50% for every player within 5 yards. Lasts for 10 seconds.
  • Spell shadow twilight Darkest Night  —  Creates a massive pool of darkness that deals moderate shadow damage to anyone standing in it. The pool will shrink over time, and the smaller it becomes, the greater the amount of damage it deals. When the pool shrinks completely, it becomes a Night Crystal.
  • Inv elemental primal shadow Stygian Seed  —  Dark crystals rain down on the locations of three random players, dealing shadow damage to anyone nearby when they strike.

Night Crystal Abilities

  • Spell shadow gathershadows Profound Darkness  —  Increases the damage and size of all enemies.

Changes in Heroic Mode

  • Exitar gains the Stygian Seed ability (see above).
  • Darkness Claw summons 6-7 non-elite Blackshard Elementals, small shadow elementals that deal physical damage and pursue random targets.
  • Touch of the Black is now reduced by 33% instead of 50% when characters are nearby.
  • Night Crystals will revert back to a pool of darkness when destroyed.

Strategy

Exitar will use all of his abilities throughout the encounter. He will increase his power using Darkest Night to create Night Crystals. If too many crystals are active, it will increase his power beyond survivability.

Achievement

  • In Blackest Night - Defeat Exitar, Baron of the Black while 3 Night Crystals are active.
