This buff appears to have no effect other than the buff icon itself.
Despite the fact that cake is also common in real life, the lack of a game effect for the Very Happy buff has led some to believe that the Delicious Chocolate Cake is a reference to the video game Portal. This belief is the source of the repeated posting of "The cake is a lie" and/or "The cake buff is a lie" is online forums discussing the items. Creating the cake is now the objective of the Cooking Achievement "The Cake Is Not A Lie".
