Requesting Ban for TheUnwantedSeer

Hello Raylan, TheUnwantedSeer deleted everything on 12 pages, I reverted it of course, but I don't have the power to ban. Thanks Smiley Tankingmage (talk) 00:48, August 6, 2013 (UTC)

Dragonmaw clan

Hi Raylan! I did an edit on the Dragonmaw clan, adding new information on that page. I was hoping that if you would like to check. I just need to be shore how well I did.--Spenpiano (talk) 16:44, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

Question Zalas Whiterbark

Hey Raylan, you just deleted the Affiliation of Zalas Witherbark, the Leader of the Whiterbark tribe, so that he is now no longer one of them? I do not quite understand that, could you explain why you changed it to me, I mean the Leader of the tribe should be within the tribe, right?

Mists of Pandaria editors

Hey Raylan, I was wondering if the home page can be modified with an advert for Mists of Pandaria editors, as we're rather short on them! Thanks Smiley Tankingmage (talk) 19:04, August 18, 2013 (UTC)

Removing account requirements for editing

Hi Raylan, is this a possibility? It would give a higher number of edits, and I'm active enough to remove vandalism. What do you think? Tankingmage (talk) 11:24, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

I also thought we could add somewhere obvious a list of things to do, as some people want to help but are unsure of what to do
Hey Raylan, sorry to badger, but is the anonymous account thing going to happen?
Awesome! So it appears to have been fixed, and you probably know that, I suppose we'll need to be vigilant for vandalism, hopefully it works out well. Smiley Tankingmage (talk) 17:07, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

1000 Club

Thanks Raylan, also, will WoWWiki allow anonymous users now? Tankingmage (talk) 16:42, August 22, 2013 (UTC)

Source and Visual mode

Hey Raylan do you know if it's possible to add in a source / visual mode for WoWWiki, I know a lot of other Wikis have them, is it a flick of a switch? or does it require attuning to each site. I think it would increase the number of edits as people may find the source editing intimidating. Thanks Tankingmage (talk) 02:43, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

It's great we got that sorted, thanks Smiley Tankingmage (talk) 23:39, September 5, 2013 (UTC)

Nomination for expert

I wasn't exactly sure were to put this, but I want to nominate User:Frejya for being an expert in spells, abilities and items. Tankingmage (talk) 22:28, September 13, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I got your email, it was informative and thank you, I do think the wiki's on the rise again and we have had quite a few new users, I also think we may want to use the facebook/twitter accounts for wowwiki more to help promote the site, I would be happy to help manage this if you wanted, and post polls/fun wow related material, it's generally one of the ways I like to approach getting people interested. Tankingmage (talk) 02:07, September 20, 2013 (UTC)

Social Media

Was there a WoWWiki group? I saw the page, but I wasn't so sure where the group was Tankingmage (talk) 15:51, September 20, 2013 (UTC)

Be careful blocking anons

Sometimes IP addresses are shared, so you could end up blocking other anons or even real accounts. I would switch your inifnite blocks of anons to something long, like 6 months, but not infinite. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 24 Sep 2013 8:50 AM Pacific

Hello, I have a quick question. I'm attempting to write a series of novels based off Warcraft but I don't know how to get permission. Could you tell me how I can get information regarding copyrights etc. Thanks.CuriousGeorgeee (talk) 01:52, September 27, 2013 (UTC)

I say it just you who is in disagreement, sure many people saw the article while I edit, but it was you the one who differed and arbitrarily decided what is best, if you want a website with good information varied content must allow others think that, in the opinion of many Windrruner Sylvanas is a death knight unholy arc, lethal atracion used, summons his army of dead and archery techniques are all derived from profane, addition, the photo is in the "Queen of Forsaken" Sylvanas does not represent, first of all we know that no visible scars on her figure and second, that image is like a Franken Sylvanas and we all know that she does not looks like this, I propose something, volvere to do the editing and if someone else might not be your returns it to its original state the well fails, you think?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Clow864 (talkcontr).

Badge Achievments for editing

Hey Raylan, I noticed on some wikis such as the Halo wiki they offer badges for doing certain things, like the 1000 club and others, but with many more badges. Do you think this is a possibility? Tankingmage (talk) 13:08, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

New Wikia ToC

Just FYI. Wikia buddies need to change .WikiaArticle .toc ul li { margin: 0; } to or add .WikiaArticle .toc ol li { margin: 0; } to match their other changes. Is why the ToC list looks fat right now :) Going to fix for us now until then. See User talk:Celess22. Celess (talk) 03:48, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

Is it ok to put the functional version back now on the live site? I just got online. :) Your note says revert to test, so I'm assuming was not intended to stay that way. Celess (talk) 18:10, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure which one you mean by 'the changes broke' and the 'revisions seemed', like who is who. Maybe you mean the 'the changes broke' as the wikia ones. Right now the old code for the popout doesn't load its 'content' at all, because of the Wikia switch to 'ol' from 'ul', and the popout won't find it . The old popout is architected around the old wm ToC's tags and css structure, so is not simple bug.  I only had a few hours to fix up the performant version to match, the one i was already on, and somethings were possibly not done. This is what the message above is partly about, and the ones on my talk page, which was just trtyin to let you guys know it wasnt me. :) The color scheme on the old one isn't going to function totally, as well, because the structure of its content changed with the Wikia changes, theres a lot of misdirection in how the changes will show up, at first glance. [edited to make remotely intelligble Celess (talk) 20:17, October 24, 2013 (UTC)] Celess (talk) 18:27, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

The code you just pasted isn't going to work. Wiki Chat? Celess (talk) 18:44, October 24, 2013 (UTC)
At the moment I said that, it wasn't.  :) Because the wiki was using 'ol' now its using 'ul' again all the sudden so its going to work. For the content. This is what I have been saying. Please shoot the right horse ;) Celess (talk) 18:51, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

Just another FYI, like the one at the top in this section... Wikia buddies think also missed making :visited version for .wikia-menu-button>a, .wikia-menu-button>li>a {...}, and is why the text looks grey on 'Edit' and 'Start a Wiki' (is in fact our visited link 'blue' color not grey). This is totally unrelated to the cc-xxxx color thing I was talking about, maybe I'm just starting to notice this stuff. IE doesn't care, some of the other browsers like Chrome do. Just wanted to let you know. Winky Celess (talk) 22:14, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

New Edits

I think it's good how many new edits we're getting, especially from anonymous users. The next step might be some way to encourage the new users to create accounts. I don't know what you think. Tankingmage (talk) 13:32, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

"Mark as patrolled" functions

I have a couple of issues with the "Mark as patrolled" functions. When I look at a diff spanning several revisions, is it possible to flag all of them as patrolled without visiting each intermediate revision separately? Secondly it doesn't seem to be possible to mark a newly created page if it has since been edited. Thanks! Sasyn (talk) 18:27, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

TOC Update

The blank pop-out contents issue should be gone, and was combo of old code and recent Wikia changes. In addition to the UL OL problem, the old code was relying almost exclusively on saving JS references upfront, and that can change or not exists later and are subject to timing issues. Now has been changed to gets the contents demand when opened each time, rather than attempting to when its scripts first run. This can also make the popup faster when you hit open, and faster on page load. Overall goal is to allow tablets and computers over 4 years, and IE 8 and up (ala Win XP), so they have reasonable mobility through the site. I'm testing and dev mostly on a PassMark ~1000 score dual core laptop, on Win 7 and validating on IE 10, Safari, and week old Chrome, so I can know, and gives me reasonable idea where tablets would fall. :) For everyone, keep in mind that sometimes things were already broken just when you start looking critically might seem new. Celess (talk) 00:24, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

FYI, for everyone... The box now has Helvetica and the same font as the site, it was broken for a good while and may look strange. Also the original intent was to make the text inside it at least as small as it was on he page, because its basing its container size explicitly on the original page toc size, and its intent was to fit and not need scroll bar or have to wrap lines. However someone at some point came and added 90% to for of ToC list font style for the page, and the popup box was then too small and you got the default wrapped text and scroll bar artifact for all popouts even small ones. The goal is to fix that so that its again following the design. I cant fix this without fixing to make the same font.  When they changed the underlying toc, the css is less portable and is burried in the actual list elements that the popout copies, therefor forcing me to change these things anyway. :) --  I wont be so verbose later, but just want to offer an express window of transparency for a bit, on stuff that's very hard to understand by looking at intent though code :) I'm just going to go back to using my talk page to list bugs or things I or others find, like before. Please if anyone has issue feel free to read that stuff and leave comment there. :) Celess (talk) 04:27, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for the hyper edits and defensive post. Had odd few days :) Celess (talk) 05:23, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

No worries - great work, and we're very appreciative! It looks great and seems to load faster on my end, so win/win. Raylan13@fandom (talk) 16:20, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

Class pages

Sorry about the Knight vs knight, I was fixing something and forgot one. :) On the class grid, was it intentional that the links become normal WW colors after visited, meaning if I click then that item is blue instead of class color on the grid? I could see where someone might have wanted a 'where have I been' thing, but im assuming it was just missing css and should always be the class color. Currently it's such that if you click on one,it turns blue as tested in chrome.  Celess (talk) 16:59, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

WoD Content

Sort of clearing house list of ones that are fresh and need attention and/or are boilerplate with Panda content. Placing here so get a chance to ensure.Celess (talk) 01:05, November 9, 2013 (UTC) Adding a few things in Tankingmage (talk) 01:13, November 9, 2013 (UTC) Anyone not familiar, make sure to look over both the Help:Updating for Warlords of Draenor‎‎ (which needs help) and the WoWWiki:Lore policy. Is every important to *not* remove lore inadvertently, and to make clear about the game sync-ed content should be updated. If there is a situation where there is doubt, just make another section rather than feel like you have to stop, and can simply add the pages to this list. Try to use 'See xxxx.' snippets liberally to help others find lore vs game. It's orders of magnitude easier to move to a new page later, than to re-rename pages or search for missing or deleted content ;) Celess (talk) 06:19, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Wikia Tasks

Just out of curiosity Raylan what is your day to day routine for Wikia? (Did Blizzcon count as working? Smiley) Tankingmage (talk) 19:10, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Sounds good! I have a friend who tried to make a game through kickstarter, I think he's just about to release it. It's called Jackpot, it's this zombie board game / card game thing. (Maybe I should recommend he sends one for review? ;) ). We need winky faces on WoWWiki. He's now working for 4J studios, who helped do Minecraft for Xbox and he did art for the Skyrim texture pack.

Yeah ok, so go through the Q and A panel. I'll give a summary of all the questions asked, we could pick out the WoWWiki questions, or just post all of the questions and answers somewhere. Where would you like me to post them? Aaargh I don't know why but your post reminded me of this thing. When I first started WoW a friend of mine used RaF, but he thought he had to put my wow account into his battle net account. So this worked for a while, until they introduced Real ID and the like. One GM said he could give me my own battlenet account, but I didn't get round to organizing it, and the other GM's I asked later said I couldn't (I had the Cataclysm collectors edition with mini deathwing! Frowney , at least my friend can use him. I don't know why I brought that up, but I just thought I should mention it. (I was originally Jacobdeath - Aerie Peaks EU). Anyway I'll do the audio in sections.

If they're answers that answer any of our questions, I'd post them on this page. Kal already set it aside - and then make sure to link to it on the questions page and the BlizzCon page (at the top). We'll insert the other answers once the interviews are listened to.
On the other hand, if they don't answer our questions but are still good sources of info, just put that info on their respective pages and ref that it was from the BlizzCon 2013 Q&A panel. Raylan13@fandom (talk) 01:12, November 12, 2013 (UTC)
Sure, we can also update pages if questions are answered, such as Garrison related questions in a Q&A section on the garrisons page. Smiley Tankingmage (talk) 01:18, November 12, 2013 (UTC)
Also, as it's so much quicker, I'm going to summarize it a bit, whilst hopefully maintaining the integrity of the conversation. Tankingmage (talk) 01:22, November 12, 2013 (UTC)
Haha - yeah. Spaced out there for a second. Have to come back tomorrow to keep working on things. See you then! Raylan13@fandom (talk) 01:24, November 12, 2013 (UTC)
It is done! Smiley I got most of the questions, some were a little hard to understand. But it's mostly good. We could also go through the other few WoW exploration panels later if we needed to. Tankingmage (talk) 03:07, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Flow Layout

I adjusted/added our 'base' width so that we get something more workable, right now base of 1180 insead of 1030. It will still flow. As it was 70% (not counding borders and padding, is what we had of 1030 or about 700px wide content. The problem is that unless it went into 'flex mode', you are stuck at <700 which is pretty hard on much of the content.Celess (talk) 18:50, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Should shift back for content.... about now.Celess (talk) 18:54, November 12, 2013 (UTC)
Seems to work. So we can change this and bend it to whatever, or gradually work toward 700px content lower bound as we have time. Want to emphasize that the flex/flow still works, before anyone starts chasing me around the room. Winky Any issues please let me know.Celess (talk) 19:01, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

There's a disturbance in the force, like a couple hundred search bars suddenly cried out in pain. Its not me. If you stretch browser's width untill you get to the right rail dropping off, then you get stretchy top search bar, and our background not working. I'll go fix. Celess (talk) 02:53, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Q + A

Hey Raylan, now that we've transcripted a lot of the Q + A from Blizzcon, should we start by placing the questions on appropriate pages. For example, this could go on the gnomes / hunter /Gnomeregan pages. Tankingmage (talk) 00:25, November 13, 2013 (UTC)

John Lagrave - Interview with WoWWiki at Blizzcon 2013
Miguel: What about the situation with Gnomeregan after the short story? What will the future hold for them? Will there ever be gnome hunters?
John Lagrave: Yeah... And you know what I'm not going to reveal any spoilers. I'm sorry.

I created a page called BlizzCon 2013/Answers exactly for this Tankingmage. So please put that there! Thanks :) --IconSmall MalfurionIconSmall Tyrande TheKaldorei (contribstalk) 14 Nov 2013 4:15 AM UTC 04:15, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Sure, but why not put them with Fandyllic's answers on the BlizzCon 2013/questions page? Tankingmage (talk) 17:48, November 14, 2013 (UTC)

Trending Talk Pages

Hey Raylan would it be possible to add some sort of Trending Talk Pages page? This should encourage the use of talk pages and greatly increase the chances of someone replying to your post. It would also be good to have some sort of general talk page, if there isn't really any article to put it on. Tankingmage (talk) 20:48, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Just a few 'moar' notes for Wikia buddies. The current jquery-ui 1.8.17 was intended for jquery 1.7 and mucho is broken for current wikia jquery 1.8, like the effects. And is pretty broken until jquery-ui version 1.8.22, with 1.8.23 being the stable one with jquery 1.8. JQuery 1.8 dropped $.curCSS which is littered about in UI 1.8.17. Maybe some already know, likely, but maybe not. Is encouraged to upgrade as JQuery-ui is pretty much innocent bug fixes for the 1.8 line. Any newer jquery-ui, 1.8.22 through 1.8.24, would fix most of problems. Winky Celess (talk) 01:54, December 13, 2013 (UTC)
