:It's been pretty fun. It's like this site, but a bit more slanted towards role-playing. I'm hoping that Eluna gets the forums up and running properly to have role-playing on there. Anyways, pics you'd have to download and then upload to their server. However, you can't just randomly take people's images and upload them somewhere else, I think. {{User:Cynra/Sig}} 02:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to WoWWiki!

Hello, {{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}, and welcome to WoWWiki, the Warcraft wiki! Thank you for your contributions, and we heartily encourage you to continue contributing!

Some links you may find useful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a WoWWikian! Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) as this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, or need help, just ask on the relevant talk page, or visit the site forums. Again, welcome! --~~~~

Again, welcome!   --Kirkburn (talk)

What happened to the old thing? Mr.X8 22:25, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Suspect contributions

I have been going through your contributions and I haven't found anything constructive Example. If I don't see an improvement in the near future you will be flagged as vandal and banned from editing the wiki. --Adys 03:43, 10 February 2007 (EST)

Dear Kirkburn, Baggins, Adys and everyone else,

As you know, I have fan fiction stories and other things. I thnk you all for helping me acheive this by making me this and allowing me to talk about things. I really appreciate this kindness in my life and I apologize on the thing I wrote in the High Elf chat.I also have many questions I hope can be answered. Im really not good at this, so I apologize to you all. Once again, thank you. :) Mr.X8 05:18, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

What? Who? Where?
Some of your contributions were suspect - it might have just been errors. If you're not here just to vandalize stuff then you got nothing to worry about. --Adys 14:57, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, since I'm not here to vandalize, I'm here to write fan fiction. I was wondering how can I add pictures to my fan fiction, such as WoW scenery or mob pictures or [ictures I drew or photo shopped together. Do I need permission, and how can I get it? If I want to put my own pictures on, I could scan them on my computer but I dont know how to transfer them to my fan fiction. I hope you can answer them, (Mr.X8 15:42, 19 May 2007 (UTC))

Oh, how do I make a new fan fiction page to start another story. My old one was made by someone else. Oh, the reason I have been under vandalism suspicion is probably because Ive always left my account opened and never logged out before. Sorry, Ill have to be more careful next time. :(

won't someone please answer back? Please, I need help (Mr.X8 18:47, 25 May 2007 (UTC))

I wouldn't really know about the guidelines and such, however i can't see any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to upload your pictures as long as proper source have been given, to upload pictures use Special:Upload, but remember to read the WoWWiki:Image_guidelines first, alternatively use the WoWWiki village pump link in the Welcome message if you want to ask more questions, as it's unlikely that people will be monitoring your talk page :) Fiskert/c  18:59, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Well thank you for the info, but I dont understand what to put in those boxes on where its from and where its going. I really just was going to edit some real WoW pix and tweak them out. Could someone add the pictures if its not oo much to ask please. Im just a kid, so sry I know nothing about computers. :( —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr.X8 (talkcontr).

There are 3 boxes on the page, the first box is the source, in which you can browse to the picture you want to upload, the second is where the destination should be(I.e. X8-Fanfic-pic01.jpg) and the summary is a description of the image. Fiskert/c  19:12, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

I am never going to get the hang of all this stuff. Im just a kid for God's sake! Im horrible with computers because my computer teacher is the meanest person in Chicago. Serously, I just want to tweak up some pictures that arent mine and add them because most of my characters dont yet exist in WoW and I dont own any type of Warcraft. If anyone could help me tweak up some pix, just reply and Ill tell you what I need help with. HELP WOULD MUCH APPPRECIATED SINCE I DONT GET IT IN COMPUTER CLASS :)

I can tell some people dont like me here. I understand if Baggins doesnt because I think I annoyed him WAY too much. (Mr.X8 21:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC))

I tried to do it. Nothing happened. Well, thats not entirely true. It said this isnt recommended to upload. I thought about cancelling it. Since nothing happened I wont try again.

Is there anyone who could add some images, or is that too selfish to ask?

YES!!!(LOL JK) its fine but what You want mightbe hard to know and wait I just saw you complaining about a pic on your fanfic and dont wish to offend but PST(tell me on my usertalk)Scorpx2 02:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)scorpx2

Mr.X8, I'm a relative Wiki neophyte myself, but what you're asking isn't all too difficult. In order to get the most out of a site like this (which seems to be a community that welcomes input of appropriate and relevant information) you might want to learn some basic ideas on what to do and how to edit a page. This way in the future you don't need people to do this for you. This page was a lot of help for me initially - as well as looking as other people's pages to see how they coded things.
Hey, if a twenty-five year old engineer (I r en-gineer, lawl) can manage to somehow throw together a couple of fanpages, I'm certain that you can do the same with some time and practice. You've already taken the first step in replying here and editting your userpage!
Concerning how to upload images, you'll want to visit Special:Upload. In the first box (Source filename) you'll want to click the "Browse" button and select the image that you want to upload. The second box, Destination filename is what you will be calling the image. Summary refers to a brief description of what you are uploading. You should use a description that indicates what you're uploading and probably something that should indicate that this is a fan-image and not necessarily something related to lore.
Once uploaded, you can easily add the image to the page you want it on. You'll be using the code [[Image:FILENAME.jpg]]. You know how you can get text on images when you hold your mouse over it? You can do that here as well by writing [[Image:FILENAME.jpg|YOUR TEXT HERE]] instead.
You also mentioned that you weren't quite sure how to create a new page. That's relatively easy - any time someone goes to a page that doesn't exist (for example User:Cynra/This page doesn't exist), you're asked if you'd like to create the page. So, if you wanted to find a place to put your fanfic, you just do the same thing. However, since this is fan-based information regarding the Warcraft universe and not lore, you'll probably want to have the article under your username (for example User:Mr.X8/This is the title of my new fanfic). This ensures that people are aware that this is probably something that you yourself created and that you would prefer if people don't edit it. Of course, this doesn't protect your page but I think people recognize what kind of faux pas exists in editing someone else's userpages without permission.
And apologies for the wall of text on your talk page - I'm a pretty wordy person and I felt that maybe writing out directions would help you more than just directing you to a page. -- Cynra (T·C) 12:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

THANK YOU FISKERS, SCORPX2, SANDWICHMAN2448 AND ESPECIALLY CNYRA~ :) sorry it took me so long to say thank you. I forgot, oops! Mr.X8 23:49, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

God, I was such an idiot back then. lol Mr.X8 23:11, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

You stopped? LOL Just kidding.--SWM2448 23:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Remember that fanfic goes under your namespace, at User:Mr.X8/<page name>. Pzychotix 23:07, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh... Does anyone know how to change a fan fic's title? Mr.X8 22:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Same as a regular page move. But it will, due to an error, be filed under 'U' for user.--SWM2448 22:02, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Where did you find that picture of the gnome demon hunter, sandwichman2448? Its funny Mr.X8 23:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Bas made it, I did not.--SWM2448 23:21, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Really... Could he make doctored up (tweaked) pictures for my fan fiction? Mr.X8 23:46, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I do not know, ask him: [1]--SWM2448 23:49, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you Sandwichman2448. Im just wondering the pictures that I would like tweaked arent mine. So how could I get permission? Should I ask administrators? If so, Im screwed.

Just put credit where credit is due.--SWM2448 23:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, so if I put like the website's adress and/or this photo was doctored and from WoWWiki. Thats what you mean right? Mr.X8 00:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, But not 'WoWWiki', the specific artist.--SWM2448 00:33, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the slow reply, X8; I've been away on a long business trip for the past week and a half and had training the whole week before. Bleh! Concerning images for your fanfics, have you ever considered getting your hands on the WoW model viewer? It uses the game files to load up models, which you can then animate or dress up (or down) as you want. It's how I made a couple of images for my character pages (Esz and Csilla in particular). If you have a copy of any image editing software (especially the freeware GIMP), you can use screen shots and exported images from the model viewer to put together some really impressive work. -- Cynra (T·C) 18:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh thats freakin awesome. How do you get onto the model veiwer? Mr.X8 22:07, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Buy it--SWM2448 22:52, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

For your latest 'help'

Click on the picture to go to its page, then click on the history, the name at the bottom of the list is useually the guy who made it, ask that person unless the pic's signature say otherwise.--SWM2448 00:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanx again. :) Mr.X8 00:24, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Not Moving

Some of my pictures that are supposed to move dont move. WHy is that and is there a way to fix it? Mr.X8 22:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Please review WW:PA and refrain from creating personal fanfiction outside your user namespace. Thanks! --Pcj (TC) 23:07, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

What does that mean? Mr.X8 23:08, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Just read the article I linked. --Pcj (TC) 23:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I get it. I should just do User:Mr.X8/whatever.

Ill fix it today, thanks

You still need to keep doing this. Please review WW:PA again and name your articles correctly, please. --Pcj (TC) 01:32, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Please don't forget to continue to do this. --Pcj (TC) 00:50, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Im trying right now!

How I did that

I think you're talking about the table at the bottom of the page, correct? It's actually a template that I found on another page and adopted for my own purposes. You'll want to use:

{{usertable/header02|100}} {{usertable/row02|NAME OF CHARACTER|FACTION|SERVER|RACE_GENDER|CLASS|LEVEL|GUILD|PVP RANK}} {{usertable/footer02}}

Just copy that and throw the appropriate information into it where capped. It'll spit out the table with the appropriate information. Templates are a little advanced and if you're having problems just creating tables I wouldn't recommend researching how to make them, but you can definitely take advantage of the ones that people put out there to use! -- Cynra (T·C) 13:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Im sorry, it didnt work, it came out just as it is up top, should I put symbols instead of words where it says rank & class? Or make a link using ]] and [[

Really? Let's see what I get.
Name Faction Server Race Class Level Guild Rank
Nairb Alliance 15 Zangarmarsh IconSmall HighElf Male Ui-charactercreate-classes hunter Hunter 70 None
Name Faction Server Race Class Level Guild Rank
Oddly enough, that seemed to work with no problems for me... -- Cynra (T·C) 15:02, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Do you have to write down everything there, last time I just had the race, faction, and class

You don't have to have all of the information in the table, but you do have to have each cell. So, for example, if you didn't want to say what realm or faction the character is from, you'd just leave that part blank (like you have with your character's PvP rank right now). However, you have to have the |'s there; they identify a cell for a row in a table and are absolutely necessary. -- Cynra (T·C) 14:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Right, now I got the hang of it thanks, and do you mind if I get rid of the table on this sopt, I have it on the fanfic I need. Its technically yours, so I won't mess with it. Oh crap, I already did, I can fix it if you want Mr.X8 02:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is your talk page, so you're free to edit this page as you want. And the template isn't mine at all; I believe that Anticrash made it quite some time ago. It's been editted a couple of times since I joined the site, but it's still pretty popular. -- Cynra (T·C) 11:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Ooooh. Well I in case I need to make another one, I'll keep it

just a reminder, you`ll need too put the fanfic on all ur pages that are fanfic.Airiph 12:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Model Viewer

Besides people and armor tiers, do the model veiwers have animals and mounts?Mr.X8 20:13, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

And will it let you change the color of things, like if an armor tier like Dreadknaught is almost all black, can it make the armor like red or gold, or someone other color?Mr.X8 20:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

My vertion has all NPCs and doodads found in game. You can only chainge the color if it has a Set look alikes.--SWM2448 20:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

If you cant change the armor color, can you change the faces or colors of animals or people?

Only if you can in-game, or they come in that color. Some things are unused but it depends.--SWM2448 22:29, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
THe person who made this
Sylvanas High Elf

found on Windrunner's talk page

probably mde it off a screen shot. How was he able to change her skin color and eyes?
I have no idea. They somehow pasted a skin of somthing else on a blood elf. :P--SWM2448 22:32, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Or it could be a shopped image. I've tweaked images I've made using the model viewer and then changed them to suit my preferences. It wouldn't be difficult to select the skin and then change the hue to reflect whatever changes you want - or to change the eyes. The model viewer restricts you to using what is available in-game. However, this does not mean that you have to use the same skins provided in creating a character; there's an option somewhere (I'm not at the house, so I don't have access to the program right now) that lets you use NPC skins/models. You can get some of the odder looking skins on there. For animals and mounts, make sure to use the drag down boxes to change its appearance; you can't scroll through the options like you can with the normal character models. -- Cynra (T·C) 17:46, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Talk pages

While the discussions you spark are interesting, I must remind you that WoWWiki is not a forum, and talk pages are primarily for discussing possible changed to the article. Though we are willing to answer whatever questions we can, and clear up whatever confusions arise, this is not our purpose, and we prefer discussions to remain as editorial as possible. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 04:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

What can't I talk about?

You can not talk about things that, regardless of the outcome, will have no efffect on the text of the article.--SWM2448 21:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

So the stuff about me asking on how to edit stuff on the Model Viewer I can't talk about?

You can ask about that, but you ask a lot of things (Which ones are questionable or not I will not judge).--SWM2448 22:30, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

The issue isn't your asking about them, the issue is asking about so many issues that are for your personal clarification, not for changes to the article. In future, I must ast that your queries, if not answered in the articles, be made to individual users or else posted on the Warcraft pump, and not on discussion pages.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 00:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

right, now I got it, thanks

Dont put the timestamp on your signature page. When you have removed that, the only thing you need to do in the future is to sign with '--~~~~'. I know that's the one I went to, I have an adequate one, and I din't really NEED anything special, I should just give up. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr.X8 (talkcontr).

If you don't want to use that method, revert your signature preferences to normal and start signing your comments. Kirkburn talk contr 02:11, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

There are only three things you need to concern yourself with right now.

  1. Edit your prefs and put {{subst:User:Mr.X8/SigX}} in the Signature field.
  2. Edit your prefs and check the Raw signature box.
  3. Do not sign your comments with anything other than ~~~~ and it will work.

If you still can't get those three steps down, then clear the signature box and uncheck raw signatures and sign you edits normally. Do not sign without timestamps. GRYPHONtc 15:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

One step ahead of you, I already unclicked raw signature —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr.X8 (talkcontr).

Signing on the wiki is important as it enables the author of a comment to be recognised.

Signatures are normally only ever added on talk pages - it is discouraged to sign on the actual articles, apart from on specific occasions.

So please sign your stuff, doesnt matter if its your own talk page - it doesnt mean you can do whatever you want.  D ♠ T ♣ C ♦ I ♥ WP 21:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Role-playing community site

I mention this only because many of the edits you've done on this site (other than the almost endless barrage of questions you've brought up!) are similar to mine and deal almost exclusively with role-playing. Anyways, through WoWWiki I stumbled across WoWRP, a site dedicated to the cross-realm RP community. Yes, it's in part yet another wiki, but I thought you might be interested in something that directly relates to the role-playing community. I'd be interested in hearing your feedback; that site's part of the reason that I haven't been as active here lately! -- Cynra (T·C) 13:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

WoW dude, that website's sick. I could make a Nairb and all my other characters a story on there. The only thing is, how could I transfer all my fan fic's pictures? Mr.X8 23:25, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

It's been pretty fun. It's like this site, but a bit more slanted towards role-playing. I'm hoping that Eluna gets the forums up and running properly to have role-playing on there. Anyways, pics you'd have to download and then upload to their server. However, you can't just randomly take people's images and upload them somewhere else, I think. -- Cynra (T·C) 02:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
