Tabber problems

Have you seen this? See: Garrison#Images
Template:Tabber seems to be broken. It was working a few days ago. Am I using in an unsupported way? --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 22 Nov 2013 3:57 PM Pacific
Its a Wikia caching bug. Happens when they change certain things. At top of any portal talk page, is link to 'fixes' in WoWWiki:Development that explains this one, meant for {{TwitterFeed}}. There are also instructions in {{Tabber}}, if it happens to one it happens to anything using verbatim. Its a pretty bad bug. I flushed the pages for you. It should work as simply as you had it :) Celess (talk) 00:06, November 23, 2013 (UTC)
Okay cool. Yeah I think I've run into this caching thing before, but it is difficult to diagnose sometimes. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 22 Nov 2013 4:22 PM Pacific

Twitter problems

These are the same cause as above Celess (talk) 18:18, December 17, 2013 (UTC)
(moved here for context -celess) The Twitter feed appears to be broken... PacmanNomNomNom Macrophager (talk) 00:24, December 12, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know :) Yeah its a 'verbatim' thing. I'm eventually going to write away the verbatim blocks, they are flakey see WoWWiki:Development#Fixes. See also the details in the #Wiki Issues above. Celess (talk) 07:59, December 12, 2013 (UTC)

Coord Tooltip

Pretty sure was broken due to neglect (not someithing I did Winky). Should be better now. Need feedback and everyone to be aware. Please let me know, post comment here.

Slide Show

Basically a rotating banner core, should be as robust as the Blizzard ones is moddleded after. Template:Slideshow. Free to build banners out of anything you can wiki, including content that moves or reacts on its own, not just images with links. Can have multiple 'slide shows' on a page. Will pause on hover, stop on click. Currently 'fixed pace' same as Blizz ones. Works with 'fluid wiki layout' as is. This is bare bones, let me know what you want added. I'm not done documenting it. Can see also MediaWiki:SlideShow/Test and Portal:Main/Promo for further examples. Celess (talk) 01:25, December 8, 2013 (UTC)
JQueryUI and some of the other supporting standard Wikia JavaScript are broken, due to version mismatch issues, causing problems for TOC and for using more advanced effects for slide show. What's been done is that we are now using 1.8.24 JQUI here for the parts we use, and disable loading JQUI dependencies from Wikia until theirs is updated.Celess (talk) 18:15, December 17, 2013 (UTC)
(message moved here for context -celess) Passed what you provided along and tech guys looked into it Winky. I've been informed a change will occur "soon". Not before the end of the year just due to all of the things on their plate, but sometime in January at the soonest. Thanks for pointing it out! Raylan13@fandom (talk)

Ambox and notices

Has been showing the first bullet in many boxes as just a line with asterisk. This was fixed and several dozen were checked and along with a pretty diverse set of pages using them. Celess (talk) 02:31, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

JS and CSS consolidation

Doing cleanup and movement of code now that might appear to be significant, in order to facilitate adding necessary loading support to allow removing the mw 'verbatim' code we have. This will permanently fix the twitter and tabber issues where they stop working randomly. First move will mostly will be semantic with no real change in what is happening or the order it happens in.
Since I need to let our load scripts be aware of dynamically loading the right code (instead of verbatim) if twitter or tabber anyway, I'm going to go ahead and consolidate the Wikia.js with the Common.js, so that all of the js has opportunity to use the same facilities (in addition to being far more efficient, more clear to read and easier to find). Keep in mind that we have no JS that actually creates or supports a feature that is theme specific, so the wikia.js probably should have been pretty clear already. Both files are pretty short in the grand scheme of JS things anyway. I had really wanted to do this later toward the end rather than now, but the Twitter is breaking very often. :) Celess (talk) 19:35, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
No problem. Use of verbatim was just a quick means to an end. However, semantically Wikia.js is suppose to serve the default Oasis skin and Common.js is supposed to support any skin, so we'll have to keep a look out for Common.js changes that might screw up Monobook seriously. I think this is more of an issue for CSS, but I don't really know. We don't technically support Monobook, but we don't want to render it unusable. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 20 Dec 2013 1:56 PM Pacific
Yeah, I've thought about that too. Is in the list targets of opportunity as run through this stuff. The code in Wikia was TT, Scribble, Ajax tables, and Semantic MW, which is the way it was last year or longer ago. Those loaders more activate things you have to actively click on, if one was using monobook for print hack, and pretty theme agnostic, even if would be missing CSS from Wikia.css. The more reactive things unfortunately were in Common already ;) Celess (talk) 22:14, December 20, 2013 (UTC) (removed the complicated extra rambling )
Ill make sure to distill that out, everything was everywhere :) I looked and monobook seems happy and looks like wouldn't effect print hack either. Celess (talk) 00:25, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Rename link for WhatLinksHere

There is now a completely non-obvious link to 'WhatLinksHere' after a rename, and is on the 'little green tag at top of page' that notifies you that you have renamed a page. This is a resurrection defunct feature that was in JS which used to use the Special:MovePage 'rename message' for a renamed page. That method no longer worked for many reasons and has been replaced by this. If you 'right-click' on it and open new tab, you can load a new page and keep your spot; which most of you know but just reminding you :). I really didn't want to just let the feature become vapor, so I made a spot and put it there. This should theoretically be nicer because you can just click at the end of 'rename' workflow, if you remember to look for it :).
Can test using WoWWiki:Test page. Celess (talk) 02:08, December 24, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I see how this works. It should be helpful now that I know about it. The toolbar version does a WhatLinksHere from the new page name, but the green bar one does the old page name. Nice. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 23 Dec 2013 7:32 PM Pacific
/thumbup I agree - this a very nice addition. On a side note, I'll pass along your SMW comments after everyone returns from holidays. Raylan13@fandom (talk) 21:05, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
I've added this to delete as well, says 'whatlinkshere' next to 'undelete' on the same green style notification, shown after the page is deleted. Celess22 (talk) 20:19, December 28, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Celess hopefully you had a good christmas, and that you will have a happy new year! Could we update the background to remove the black border, otherwise you only really see a couple of small strips of the image. I also think we could use a different image, perhaps a Siege of Orgrimmar themed one? Tankingmage (talk) 20:09, December 28, 2013 (UTC)

Hope you have had a good one so far too :) Which page(s)? Celess22 (talk) 20:16, December 28, 2013 (UTC)
