For decades, the undead were but tools of dark forces; the Legion, the Scourge, or even the Dark Lady Sylvanas. As such, undeath was seen as a blight or a curse, nothing more than pain at best and enslavement at worst for those who it afflicted. However, things changed when the void god Saraka was purified into the Naaru Saa'ra by the Holy power of many of the world's mightiest priests. This made Saa'ra's former Void powers—the same that could be used to bring beings into undeath—turn into Holy powers, retaining the capacity to bring back those who could not be fully resurrected, but allowing these beings to retain their free will and imbuing them with a connection to the Holy Light. These new Netherlight Forsaken (named in honor of Saa'ra's home of Netherlight Temple) choose not just to retain close to the Light, but to distance themselves from the Horde Forsaken, joining those who were their brothers and sisters in life as part of the noble Alliance.
Creation screen descriptionEdit
Brought into a state of partial undeath by the powers of the Naaru, the Netherlight Forsaken join the Alliance to be closer to their Holy allies.
Calia Menethil: The Light is our ally, our faith, and strength to combat the darkness that lurks around. I know you were once enslaved by the wrath of the Banshee Queen, but today, you are reborn as a Netherlight Forsaken, and you walk a new path. Do what you must to protect the Alliance and the living, for they are in need of you.
Unlike their original Forsaken counterparts, the Netherlight Forsaken miraculously did not decompose and share a deep resemblance to Humans, but their eye colors are pure golden-yellow and their skin colors are different color.
In order to unlock the ability to play as Netherlight Forsaken, players will need to have completed the achievement , be exalted with the Conclave, and have a level 110 Alliance character. These requirements are account wide in that players do not have to earn all requirements on the same character or even an Alliance character to unlock.
Reputation with the Conclave for these purposes can be obtained via special world quests in phased versions of Eastern Plaguelands and Icecrown that task the player with destruction of the Scourge by aiding the Argent Crusade and Ashen Verdict, respectively.
As for the achievement, it can be obtained by enlisting the aid of Chromie to allow the user to travel back in time to Icecrown Citadel during the reign of Arthas Menethil in Icecrown (i.e. scaled to level 110) in order to defeat him and ensure history's success. Defeating Arthas in this level-scaled version of Icecrown completes the achievement , allowing the player to begin with the recruitment line.
- My peoples' opportunity to make amends with our pasts, and with the Alliance, may never come again.
- If your Alliance will allow us, the Netherlight Forsaken will be a great boon to your cause.
Choosing to recruit the Netherlight Forsaken next (within the quest A Choice of Allies) will allow the player to set off on the recruitment scenario to acquire the Netherlight Forsaken. Though the Netherlight Forsaken are eager to join, they are rendered unable to do so by a Scourge invasion of Dalaran, brought on by temporal anomalies involving Bolvar Fordragon seeking revenge on the player's partially-failed attempts to ensure history's success. Restoring the time continuum to its proper state completes the quest chain, unlocks the Netherlight Forsaken, and completes the Netherlight Forsaken-unlocking achievement, .
- —passive—Allows the wielder to walk on water. This effect can be broken at will.
- —passive—Places a shield of holy light around the user, absorbing x damage. Cannot be used on other players. Lasts for 12 seconds. 2 min cooldown.
Levelling up a Netherlight Forsaken to level 110 unlocks the Netherlight Forsaken Heritage Armor. This armor is predominantly indigo and gold, with white and black as secondary colors when more muted tones are necessary. It also heavily features shapes and logos inspired by fusions of the crests of the Argent Crusade and Ashen Verdict with shapes found in the Netherlight Temple and in the Naaru.
