Obviously named after the being, Merlin. My reasons of choosing him to be a druid and not a mage is that Merlin reflects druidism more than wizardry. Merlin, on historical accounts, has never been one to use arcane abilities, always had a great deal of respect for nature, was able to speak with animals, was able to heal, and had plenty more druidic qualities. His only lover, Nimue, better known as the Lady of the Lake, was High Priestess of Avalon, and worshiper of the Earth Goddess; this could easily be similar to a Moon Priestess of Elune. Also, male night elves are generally druids, whereas females are priestesses. So it fits perfectly.
My favourite WoW characers, just to name a few, are Malfurion Stormrage (The greatest being to ever have been thought of), Tyrande Whisperwind, Illidan Stormrage, Arthas Menethil, Magni Bronzebeard, Thrall, Kil'jaeden, Dath'remar Sunstrider, and Cairne Bloodhoof.
