General

  • A new starting experience for gnomes is now available, starting at A [1] Pinned Down.
  • New starting experience for trolls is also available with starting quest H [1] The Rise of the Darkspear.
  • New background music for many old-world zones has been added.
  • Experience required to advance between level 71 and 80 has been reduced by 20%.
  • Experience required to advance between level 84 and 85 has been increased from what it was in beta.

World environment

  • The Shattering, or Cataclysm, has taken place, drastically reshaping the world. Since the resulting changes to the world environment are massive, they are listed on their own page.

Achievements

  • Quest achievements for old world zones are now split by zone, the way it is done for Outland and Northrend.
  • Money achievement Dungeon & Raid Emblem and all its subsequent achievements have been removed.
  • Money achievement World Explorer now requires Money achievement Explore Cataclysm. As such, it is currently impossible to complete before the release of the Cataclysm expansion. However, players who obtained this achievement before the patch keep it even without exploring Cataclysm zones.
