Affliction warlocks are the masters of shadow magic, indulging in fel energies that wither away the life force of their enemies over time. Their weapon of choice is Ulthalesh, The Deadwind Harvester — a great scythe that harvests souls from its victims, taking their power for its own.

This artifact weapon was introduced in World of Warcraft: Legion.[1] Warlocks will meet with the Council of the Black Harvest and open a gateway to one of the Burning Legion bases deep within the Twisting Nether. While the mission isn't without its troubles, warlocks do discover bits of information relating to artifacts the Legion knows about on Azeroth.

Some of the information leads to Duskwood, following the trail of the Dark Riders of Deadwind Pass, discovering a series of catacombs deep underneath Karazhan. There lives the leader of the Dark Riders, and warlocks must wrest control of the Harvester from him.

Lore Edit

The first necrolyte to walk the world of Azeroth, Satiel, was given this scythe by the titan Sargeras himself. It grows in power as it draws souls from its victims. The Harvester earned its name as Satiel methodically drained all life from the hapless inhabitants of Deadwind Pass, creating a potent magical nexus there in the process. Hunting down Satiel, the Guardian of Tirisfal turned the scythe on her, sending her soul to join those of her victims. Eventually the Dark Riders recovered the weapon and secreted it beneath the tower of Karazhan.[2]

Features Edit

Every time the warlock uses the weapon and kills and enemy, the Harvester surges with power, increasing the damaging effect of their spells for a short period of time.

As the weapon is a soul-stealer, much like Frostmourne, a soul attempts to escape every so often. Reaping that soul imparts the same power as if the warlock killed a living being.
