Tom Chilton

Tom Chilton is the Spell frost icestorm [Blizzard] employee who often goes by the alias Kalgan. He is Lead Designer responsible for game systems and balance in World of Warcraft.

"Kalgan: I'm the Lead Designer responsible for game systems -- character classes, combat, items, pvp, auctions, mail system, and world events" Warcry Dev Chat

Beginning with its third add-on in 2001, he was one of the lead designers for Ultima Online through its fifth add-on in 2003.

"Kalganism" Controversy

Kalgan was also the subject of a long 350 page + series of threads on the warlock forums, which began with a thread called "Kalganism" containing only a quote "I'm quite sure the pvp warrior I have will still be rockin' a s3 weapon within the first week despite this change."[1][2] It quickly hit 13 pages of anti-Kalgan posts which all contained one of his quotes followed by a mockery of it. It got deleted, then the Warlock community went crazy with Kalgan posts until a Blizzard representative threatened to ban anyone who started a thread about him. He is accused of designing the game's endgame PvP from the perspective of a PvP Warrior. Many posts afterwards have been created, but nothing comparable to the original flurry of angry posters.

Further suspicion has been created by a more recent post where he says "We're aware of the issue and have changes planned for the next major update. Clearly, the McWarrior is underpowered."[3][4]
