A Crimson Whelpling pet

The Tiny Crimson Whelpling item summons and dismisses a Tiny Crimson Whelping, a dragon whelpling small pet that follows you around, meaning it is a non-combat pet and will not aid you in battle.

Patch 2.4: Sound effects added.

Source

Tiny Crimson Whelpling drops from Crimson Whelps, Flamesnorting Whelps, and Red Whelps in the Wetlands. There are also Lost Whelps in the general area but they do not drop this pet.

The level of these Whelps range in the mid-20s, so this is the first Whelpling pet new characters can have the chance of obtaining, and also the easiest for higher level characters to farm.

Notes

The drop rate of this pet is roughly 0.1% (one in every thousand kills) and takes an incredible amount of patience and determination in order to get one. Due to the difficulty of obtaining one, and thus their rarity, they can sell for fairly large amounts of gold on the Auction House, at least as far as pets are concerned.

The chances of getting at least one—at a 0.1% drop rate—are listed below:
