All Rogues start with the Throw ability, and later gain the ability , which requires an equipped thrown weapon. Hunters and Warriors can learn the Throw skill (see Weapon master for details). Note that Throwing differs from ; Hunters have little use for thrown items as they occupy the same equipment slot as their primary, ranged weapons. By contrast, Warriors and Rogues prefer throwing weapons because no ammo is required, and use them to pull mobs and for their stat boosts.
Although Thrown weapons do not use ammo, there have been attempts to impose limits on thrown weapons, similar to how ranged weapons are limited by ammo:
- Charges: Thrown weapons would have 200 charges, losing one charge each time the player threw it.
- Durability: Thrown weapons had durability, losing one point of durability each time the player threw it.
Both charges and durability could be restored by repairing the weapon.
