World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (colloquially known as Mop), is the fourth expansion for World of Warcraft and was officially announced on October 21, 2011 at BlizzCon 2011. The expansion focuses mainly on the war between the Alliance and Horde and takes the bold adventurers of Azeroth into the long forgotten lands of Pandaria. Unlike all previous expansions, it will not contain a main antagonist.

New non-playable races

  • Jinyu - A fish-like creature[1]
  • Hozu - Similar to a monkey
  • Verming - Similar to kobolds, but they obsess over vegetables instead of candles
  • Mantid - An insect race, which will be featured in dungeons and raids
  • Mogu - The original inhabitants of Pandaren 12,000 years ago, warring with the Pandaren over their land
  • Sha - Manifestations of negative energy

New zones

  • Jade Forest - A lush rainforest filled with tall stone spires. Contains at least one dungeon, Temple of the Jade Serpent
  • Valley of the Four Winds - The zone will be split into two sides; you choose which side to take, and can return later to play through the other side. Contains at least one dungeon, The Brewery
