Void Shifted Indications?

Is there any visual effect that lets you know when you are Void Shifted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eyrta (talk · contr).

I have been Void Shifted several times now (per Deadly Boss Mods warning during the battle) and the primary thing in my field of vision is massed streamers of purple flying across the screen, the boss, and the other players. Hitting the tab key did not produce any target shifts (yes, I had come here to Wowwiki several times to read up on this boss first, so I knew all about the boss and its adds). I have yet to ever specifically spot an add. The way you make your statement, they must be blindingly obvious, and I must be blind. I have noticed a black beam that the boss fires, and have wondered if that was a signal that you were Void Shifted; from the description of the ability, it seems like it, but it does not actually say. Activation Crystals

There are four objects that vaguely look like lanterns, one by the door, one straight across the room, and one to the left and right of the room. If you hover a mouse during the run, the say, "Activation Crystal". The main page mentioned that you can click on these (calling them defense crystals on the page) for assistance in killing of the Void Sentries. What exactly is this form of assistance? Are the adds all supposed to be wiped out by this? Or something else? I have seen the lightning come down from the ceiling some time after clicking on a crystal, but the gap in time between clicking the crystals and the appearance of the lightning made it difficult to determine if they were connected. Also, it appeared to have no effect at all, with additional sources of Shadow Bolt volleys (more Void Sentries, obviously) building up hugely and wiping the group. Basically, it goes like this: Boss comes out, Void Sentries are summoned and begin volleying, and someone gets Void Shifted. I run and click on a crystal, a few seconds later, the Void Shifted ends, sometime during this lightning comes down to various spots in the room, and there is no noticeable reduction in volleying sources. As noted above, no, I never did see a Void Sentry in the three times I have run into this boss and was Void Shifted, and no, I don't know how that was possible; a couple of times, I was never Void Shifted. Should I even bother with hitting the crystals? Yes, I will try the targeting macro the next time around, whenever that should actually occur. Eyrta (talk) 03:18, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

In addition to the four lanterns I was discussing above, one by entrance, three on main floor (left, right, and directly across from entrance, there are also some on the upper walkway across from the entrance). I have since been to VH several times and have run across Zuramat and the water elemental boss in the same run. I am not sure, but it appeared to me that each Activation Crystal can only be used once (I tried using the same one on the second boss and I could not click on it a second time). Solving Zuramat is about simply DPSing him down and clicking on the crystals in a timely manner (both in normal and heroic modes). Running around after the Void Sentries is a pointless waste of time; I still have not seen one to this day. Eyrta (talk) 15:10, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Heroic Mode

I have seen this boss now on the last three Heroic attempts made on VH. Is it guaranteed to come up on Heroic, or is this just ridiculously bad luck? Eyrta (talk) 03:18, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
