Path of Zalazane? I think he's cool too, but if I'm not getting any sources, I'll certainly not believe this to be real. If it is real, I'm definately going to buy it. But I doubt it. --Xavius 21:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Power?[]

What line of thought could possibly make Zalazane that powerful? Any link to a thread or something? INV Misc Orb 04Xavius, the Satyr Lord 14:30, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Featured Article[]

With a little work, this could be a featured article. Could it not? BobNamataki (talk) 14:01, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

Backstory[]

The info given in Lands Of Mystery is completely inconsistent with all other sources including Zalazane's debut in WoW. It is not correct to the character and should be in a section titled WoW rpg instead of a section with the generic title backround as it is not incorrect to the character depiction by Blizzard. Copperblast (talk) 19:12, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

I would rather take the verbatim entirety of the passages from both the WoW manual and Lands of Mystery, and then put them each in their own section labeled as what they are.--SWM2448 19:17, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Thats fine but the World of Warcraft backstory should come first as Zalazane was in WoW for 2 whole years when Lands of Mystery came out. Their whole backstory on him seems to be the result of the writers not doing researching their topic as it is pointed out frequently in WoW and its manual that Zalazane's servents are all brainwashed against their will. There is not a single zombie there, even the mob name's hex troll tells you they are enslaved, and Vol'jin outright says in the Echo Isles leak there isn't a single willing troll under Zalazane. Copperblast (talk) 19:24, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

It can be first, if no one has a problem with this. Also, unbiased disclaimers are your friend.--SWM2448 19:26, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
It's because of situations like this that I have issues with the concept of "everything is canon, even when the canon directly contradicts itself" stance that this wiki tends to take. I would almost call this a retcon, except that I checked the dates and Lands of Mystery came after WoW. As Copperblast says, though, LoM goes directly AGAINST what has been previously established, and now that WoW is coming back to Zalazane it seems like it's simply reinforcing what came before and ignoring Lands of Mystery. Presenting two conflicting backstories immediately next to each other at a time when a lot of new people are going to be looking at this page to see who the guy they're killing is will simply result in a lot of confusion. Seeing as how the Lands of Mystery backstory is both contradictory and seemingly ignored by the newest lore, I think leaving it in the trivia section is better for the article as a whole. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:30, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
What if people use this arbitrary precedent about one non-canon passage to reinforce the removal of more-to-all "RPG" content, saying that none of it is canon? EDIT: That may be a bit of a slippery slope fallacy there. I am not a fan of bureaucracy, but I would prefer if the written policy on WoWWiki was not so disjointed from what actually gets decided to go on. No one uses precedents for anything anyway. That seems a very alarmist argument, given that most of it doesn't directly contradict existing lore. Where it does contradict it... Well, to be honest, we already know how Metzen feels about the canonicity of certain RPG elements. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:46, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
Ugh. That. Metzen never drew a decisive line about all canon issues. This Zalazane thing does contradict the game he originated from and is still in, but I am still hesitant to get rid of it. I also do not want to combine it with the World of Warcraft info.--SWM2448 19:55, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
So leave it in the trivia section as "Lands of Mystery gives a contradictory backstory, and here it is." -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:00, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
I keep forgetting LoM came after WoW... So we'll do as Dark suggested. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:33, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks guys, I really think this will clear up confusion on the character. Copperblast (talk) 21:49, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
