Types[]
- Oozes use the creature model "Slime"
- Oozelings use the creature model "Slimelesser"
- Viscidus, The Direglob, and The Rot use the creature model "Giantslime"
Now Cataclysm came along with yet another brand new model "Greaterslime". This model like the Oozelings has been used for multiple things: Ooze, Slime, Sludge, Blood, Alloys, and even Mud. They've been classified as: Uncategorized, Elemental, Undead, and even Dragonkin...
Rather than trying to make new creature pages for these new types, when they are simply the same creature but with an updated look, lets just stay with sourced information and not keep going off the model names. Icons have been requested, made, and used, but new articles just are not needed.. when likely the page will be 1 or 2 lines, since getting actual lore on them is getter harder and harder.

Ooze types[]
An overview of the history of ooze types:
- Warcraft I called them Slimes.
- They were not in Warcraft II.
- Warcraft III called them Sludge beasts in the manual (page 144, Kalimdor only listed). Battle.net called them Sludge monsters. There were three sizes/subtypes in the multiplayer, the Sludge Minion, the Sludge Flinger, and the Sludge Monstrosity. The creatures in the Sludge Fen seem to be based on this type, though I am not sure that the idea that they were oil existed this far back, though they sure look like it. Other types exist in the game, like the Slime Hurlers (maybe) and the mysterious Jacobs Rejects.
Gelatinous cubes get an offhand mention in the first RPG book as a type of creature that one can not 
[Cannibalize]. Also, mana surges are given as an example of an ooze (which is later contradicted/updated in Monster Guide). This isn't important.- Manual of Monsters (based mostly on Warcraft III) calls them Sludges. These are called a Medium Ooze in the context of 'creature type' and not 'race'.
- WoW comes along with creatures with the "Slime" model name (which are called commonly called Oozes in quests???), and the "Slimelesser" model name (the smaller Oozelings).
- Monster Guide talks about the "Ooze" type again in the context of 'creature type' and not 'race'. It has three things under it: the Black ooze (also known as the slag beast, it is not the Wetlands mob and it comes from Venture Company mines), the Primal ooze (which is really talking about the Un'goro Crater mob), and the sludge monster. The sludge monster has no entry, and might be the Manual of Monsters entry.
- The Giant slime (the model of The Direglob, The Rot, and Viscidus) and Greater slime (the new Cataclysm model, sometimes with a face) models were added to WoW later.
