I found things like those when I was swimming around Kalimdor(can't remember which zone). I came up shore to check them out in Travel Form, and I got stuck for about 5 minutes. They're cat traps.--[[User:Potato1|Potato1]] ([[User talk:Potato1|talk]]) 13:46, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

This place is cool! I'm there right now. --Oct 29, 2006 TM41

Alliance spawn spot?

I've been standing at newman's landing for about 40 minutes now, creating alliance chars on another account.

I've yet to see anyone appear.. I've tried tracking humanoids and tabbing as well and haven't come up with squat..

The only thing I have noticed, is that when I zoom in on my minimap, it resets to zoom all the way out every 20-30 seconds. This seems to coincide with when my new alts are about halfway through the loading bar.. But, it doesn't happen every time.

If its true that you can stand somewhere here and see level 1 alliance spawn, where is it? Randsome 04:06, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

Wait, so if youre at Newman's Landing, you see every human toon being made? This is confusing. (Mr.X8 00:48, 27 May 2007 (UTC))

Presumably what he is struggling to say, is that he hoped he could see the swarves spawning on the other side of the mountain. --Crash 14:21, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Wait, how could you get there if it takes 25 minutes to see and why is it listed as a closed spot if you can get there without exploitation? You would be dead of swimming if it took 25 minutes since when you're in the Great Sea, you get a fatigue bar, and when that runs out, you die. Mr.X8 02:22, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Swim closer to the land, this way the fatigue bar does not appear. Took me like 30 minutes. Extremedeath
I have been here on real servers and the rumors are true. If you stand on the table and angle your camera correctly (youtube has a video showing how) you CAN see new characters spawning here then porting to their respective start areas hense the name Newman's Landing. If your server lags at the time (pretty rare) it will be easier to see it. (sorry for not signing my post at first. was like the first one i did on this site) --Whitedragon254 (talk) 21:49, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Strange place

Where did people get the name of this place (Newman's Landing itself)? I arrived there, for another players my location was "Unknown", but for me it was "The Great Sea", not "Newman's Landing".

  • Please sign your comments. The name comes from the sign that is in the area. Wave your mouse over it and it will say Newman's landing -Extremedeath

And you need to use the 4 "~" marks. 21:39, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Odd Terrain

Just north of Newman's Landing (At 7,63 on the Dun Morogh map) there's a series of about nine shallow pyramidal recesses along the shore. They just seem a little strange, almost as if they were intentionally worked into the terrain by a bored terrain-worker one lazy Friday afternoon. I don't know if it's worth mentioning in the actual article itself, but the regularity of the pits seem a little too, well, regular for them just to be an accident. --Gordal 17:39, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

This is the same wherever you go when swimming around the outskirts of the world. As these are areas the player was not originally intended to visit, it is safe to assume that they just used a stock setup to fill out the landscape. --Suzanne 11:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

GM Conversation.

I actually went there with some friends on my RP character. I was really curious about the place and ticketed a GM.

This is what followed: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/1683/gm01zz4.png

(Note: He was probably spectating me, he was nowhere to be seen.)Marlamin (talk) 09:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I see a blizz logo, not a <GM> tag. Is it real? The person does not tell you much anyways.--SWM2448 21:21, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Since patch 2.4 GM's have a BLizz logo in front of them to make sure scammers can't impersonate a GM properly anymore. I can upload the full screenshots if you still don't believe me. And I still think it's awesome due to the GM actually taking the time. Marlamin (talk) 09:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
What did he do so that you'd follow him? appear as a light? Reveal himself as an NPC? User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 22:41, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
He didn't appear in any way, as I said under the screenshot. It would be damn cool if he did.Marlamin (talk) 09:09, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
But how did you follow him? Did he take control of your toon or something? User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 20:14, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
He guided with words. Pretend.--SWM2448 (talk) 20:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh, right... forgot it was an RP server... Hey Marlamin, see if you can get ahold of that GM again and ask when the ship crews are returning.. I miss them. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 20:39, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll try, but chances are always small of getting the same GM again. I've had several tickets already in between the Newman's Landing Convo and now, and still not the same GM.
(Note: The tickets we're to report stupid names like a warlock named "dotgirl". Which is not acceptable on a RP server.) Marlamin (talk) 09:58, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Name

Anyone wonder if maybe it's called Newman's Landing because new Alliance characters "land" there before going to their starting locations? You know, New-man's-Landing?

Lies

This bit about seeing new players spawn is complete bulls**t. Note that no one ever comes forward with actual "proof" or anything even remotely resembling specific details (not even this "there's a video on YouTube of it" because that's a lie, too--look for yourself), and that's because they're all repeating what they heard from someone else who was also talking through their hat. -- Dagmar d'Surreal (talk) 23:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

WOTLK Changes

As of PTR 09/22/2008:

  • Newman's Landing still exists, it was not destroyed with Stormwind Harbor.
  • Since you can start at the north end of SW Harbor, it's a much shorter trip (maybe 5 minutes)
  • It now shows as being in Dun Morogh, except for the water and the edge of the dock which show as The Great Sea.
  • Drowning myself under the dock resulted in resurrecting in Westfall.

--Dewin (talk) 09:08, 22 September 2008

also a Goblin has been added to the dock, who happens to sell blacksmith supplies--Syteless (talk) 21:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

  • They probably added the Gobin and the Booty Bay Bruisers because more people are more likely to stumble upon Newman's Landing since Stormwind Habor is open.--Mistertrouble189 (talk) 02:05, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Ghost?

Ok, I was at Newman's landing a moment ago, and I saw a ghost. She stood at the door for a moment before walking inside, turning and doing the beg emote. I couldnt select her, but I did manage to get two Screenshots.

Has anyone else seen this? Amzer (talk) 21:33, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

  • It was probably a player. This is a "ghost costume" from Hallow's End. Strange that you couldn't select her, though. - Sikon (talk) 10:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Untargetable ghost, hmm... Intriguing, and remember what the GM said... INV Misc Orb 04Xavius, the Satyr Lord 09:36, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
