Speed Totals
The wiki says:

"The mounts are only usable with these skills and have the ability to fly in Outland. These mounts can not be used in Azeroth."

Does this mean that they cannot *fly* in azeroth, or that they cannot be summoned *at all* in azeroth?

Ok, I'm good at math, but I'm kind of confused at how they got those totals. 492% flying mount speed? I thought that there was only a few increases in speed. Could someone please explain to me how they got those numbers? Jclipps 00:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Please don't put wishful thinking or speculation in for Blood Elf or Draenei mounts. If you have a good source (Blizzard rep, game magazine, newspaper, etc.) and link to it, go ahead and put something. --Fandyllic 6:18 PM PDT 2 Jun 2006

:looks like a typographical error. They typed 380% instead of 280% for epic flying speed, and then all the rest of the numbers were wrong.
i am a human mage, Lv 40 , and i bought one horse , but i want change the mount tiger when my repuation of Darnassus going to exalted, is that ok? and can i sell my mount?

  +
So when using items or auras, it doesn't add the percent, it takes n% of what you have and adds that?
  +
For example: it would be 280% flying + crusader aura would not equal 300% but actually +(280x.2)=336%? jclipps (talk) 20:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that's fine. Since mounts are soulbound, you can't sell or give them to anybody, and actually I'm pretty sure you can't even vendor them. Good luck with that Exalted rep though. You need it.
+
:actually you should also include the normal 100% speed of your character, so the speed of epic flying with crusader aura will be (100+280)*1.2=456% , which is a 356% bonus DroRaz

:I was under the impression that you could take your mount to the stable and drop it off there so you can pick it up later on. Is that wrong? I had previously heard somewhere (probably in Thottbot's comments, argh) that the maximum speed a player could go under their own power was 200%. Since then, I've gotten an epic mount, and I can also confirm that speed boosters work. I think with all 3 you can get up to 218%.

Only Gnomes get mechanical mounts?
There are four types of mounts:
+
"Mounts are a much sought after form of transportation in which players ride atop the backs of select Bind on Pickup creatures (and for gnomes, machines) of Azeroth and Outland. " I really think this should be edited to say " Bind on Pickup creatures or machines of Azeroth and outland" as with the addition of engineering flying mounts, and the fact that a dwarf can utilize the gnomish mount, stating "and for gnomes, machines" is a bold misrepresentation. Dwarves can machine too! Also, druids can ride around on a flying machine. Seem strange to anyone else? Anyways, I did not feel comfortable just editing this, as I ran across a petty exchange on whether a gun's firing action was chemically induced, or mechanically induced. I guess I am a little gun shy nooblet.--Bipper 14:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

The info I added about warlocks/paladins automatically receiving riding skill when they complete their quests *might* be incorrect. When the 1.12->1.12.1 transfer occurred, those classes automatically got riding skill appropriate to the mount they had received without needing to have had a racial riding skill. This suggests that we won't ever need to purchase riding skill if we level a warlock/paladin to level 40/60 and complete the class mount quests post 1.12.1, but I might be wrong. -- Jaxdahl 13:21, 27 September 2006 (EDT)

The class mounts are listed under the Discounts section, which was not at all intuitive for me when I was trying to find the DK flying mount. (I didn't know its name.) I ended up googling it and finding it at Wowhead. I suggest moving that table to a top-level heading, "mounts by class". It appears that the cost of epic mounts has changed with 2.01. As of that patch, having revered status with Darnassus dropped the price of training from 810g to 540g for my night elf hunter, while the price of the mount itself remained the same (90g). This is a reduction of 1/3 or roughly 66% for going from honored to revered where prior to the patch there was no change. This reduction is also without the 10% due to PvP rank three as this character had only reached rank two before the patch. My wife and I are currently researching if there are additional benefits to being exaulted, and will post those results when available. <small>—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jemarsil.</small>

::Ok, here's what I'm trying to understand then... Yesterday, when I tried to purchase the riding skill (150) at honored, it was going to cost me 810g. When I went back to purchase the same riding skill at revered, it only cost me 540g. Again, this is without the PvP discount which, although everyone is talking about it, I have not seen it. My wife and I have only started purchasing our epic mount training within the past few weeks and there has been no difference between our chracters that were rank 2 PvP or rank 5. I'm just trying to understand what everyone is talking about on the different websites, and how it correlates to what I'm seeing in-game. The standard and swift flying mounts (windriders and gryphons) are now available from Mei Francis. Seeing as she is listed as Kirin Tor, the prices for these might be cheaper based on rep. Where does it say it wil require Artisan Riding? Why would a mount which Requires one to be Exalted AND cost the player 2,000g no less Require 300 riding? Even if it is Swift, because of the requisits it seems to be a fair middle ground. You are able to ride Swiftly (Like The WinterTrainers Frostsaber Mount, 75 riding, +100% speed) Yet does not Require the highest Skill, so you will not be able to partake in other activites, like grinding Netherdrake rep and having other exotic mounts. --KoalaMeatPie 07:55, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Tauren can also ride Brewfest Rams and Swift Brewfest Rams, for what its worth. I don't see a list of "scaleable mounts" (those mounts that adjust to current flight restrictions, owner skill level, and/or possession of a 310% flight speed mount). I'd also like to suggest the term "exceptional flying mount" or perhaps "exceptionally fast flying mount" to describe them, rather than rely on terms like "ultra-rare". As a side note, you must be level 40 to purchase either ram because the item that unlocks buying them requires level 40. You don't have to have the necessary riding skill to buy them, and if you have the gold you can buy both the regular and swift ram at the same time.

Speed Totals Edit

Ok, I'm good at math, but I'm kind of confused at how they got those totals. 492% flying mount speed? I thought that there was only a few increases in speed. Could someone please explain to me how they got those numbers? Jclipps 00:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

looks like a typographical error. They typed 380% instead of 280% for epic flying speed, and then all the rest of the numbers were wrong.

So when using items or auras, it doesn't add the percent, it takes n% of what you have and adds that? For example: it would be 280% flying + crusader aura would not equal 300% but actually +(280x.2)=336%? jclipps (talk) 20:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

actually you should also include the normal 100% speed of your character, so the speed of epic flying with crusader aura will be (100+280)*1.2=456% , which is a 356% bonus —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DroRaz (talkcontr).

armor=speed? Edit

why do the epic mounts always have armor on them? doesn't that slow them down? why not take off the armor and have super fast mounts?

Sign your posts please. And well, Armored mounts have a better training to carry all taht stuff around and more. That should make them faster =P Azahel (talk) 01:55, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

I think it is because they are epic and look cooler with armor... Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 02:02, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Locating class mounts in page Edit

The class mounts are listed under the Discounts section, which was not at all intuitive for me when I was trying to find the DK flying mount. (I didn't know its name.) I ended up googling it and finding it at Wowhead. I suggest moving that table to a top-level heading, "mounts by class". And the DK's mounts need to be mentioned and linked at Death knight. -- ScratchMonkey (talk) 08:02, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

3.0.8 Edit

Have we got this right? The patch notes mention removing "racial restrictions" so e.g. Taurens can ride tiny mounts. They say nothing about no longer requiring exhalted status. paulbrock (talk) 10:21, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

They'll still require the required rep. The racial restrictions are being removed cause of the 100 mount achievement being added and it being unfair to taurens. User:Coobra/Sig3 20:35, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Missing mounts Edit

I just noticed that there are still some mounts missing that can be obtainable. The ones I noticed missing are; Bronze Drake (100% drop from Infinite Corruptor, CoT: Strat heroic timed run), Blue Drake (drop from Malygos 10-man), Azure Drake (drop from Malygos 25-man), Black Drake (100% drop from Sartharion 10-man, when you leave three drakes alive), Twilight Drake (100% drop from Sartharion 25-man, when you leave three drakes alive). Neltharion (talk) 15:38, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed these have all been added to the main article. -Howbizr (talk) 19:21, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Aquatic Mount!! Edit

With 3.1 comes the first high-speed water mount, called Aquatic Riding Ray. Can someone please add it in under the right paragraph? --SFSig-2009 12:29, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I invite you to be bold.IconSmall BloodElf2 MaleAMBER(RΘCK) 16:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Or wait till it actually makes an appearance... I remember a black warp stalker mount being in the game files... but you don't see that as a player mount. User:Coobra/Sig3 21:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Source? Looks like wowhead, but it doesn't come up when searched. Unless its actually been seen, its considered datamined, as blizzard didn't announce it (it was undocumented). User:Coobra/Sig3 22:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I tried and tried and tried to verify their source and couldn't. But MMO Champion claimed it was a bluepost. Normally they give a source for their blueposts, but not on this article. A bunch of other fansites has the same exact announcement, also with no references (or they point back to mmo champion). So... it's unconfirmed announced. -Howbizr (talk) 22:40, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Bibi (MMO Champion's webmaster) just confirmed it was datamined. --PcjGamepedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!

Stealth Update for Flying Mounts? Edit

The standard and swift flying mounts (windriders and gryphons) are now available from Mei Francis. Seeing as she is listed as Kirin Tor, the prices for these might be cheaper based on rep. I'm unable to confirm this at the moment since I currently have zero rep with Kirin Tor; anyone with better rep care to confirm? Although this wouldn't help any level 70's trying to get their epic flyer, it might save you some gold if you're trying to collect mounts. Grotuk (talk) 16:40, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Wait till 3.2.0 if you really want to save money. User:Coobra/Sig4 19:18, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Mei Francis's mounts are indeed affected by the rep discount, while the ones in Shadowmoon Valley are not. Ultimately, though, this isn't a HUGE discount. At Exalted, you save 20g on the normal ones and 40g on the epic ones. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:20, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Good grief. My main toon just went around and finished buying up a lot of the standard mounts... --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:26, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Mounts and raids Edit

I have seen for myself that a raid member not in my group was able to ride my hog as a passenger, within the Obsidian Sanctum instance. I haven't proved that the same holds true elsewhere, yet. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Speed upgrades past 70 Edit

I have some old boots with Mithril Spurs (+4% mount speed) but measuring speed in game, they do not seem to add any speed to my level 80 toon but they do add speed to lower level ones. The tooltip does not say they will not work past 70, they just seem not to. I would like to get other results and then update the spurs line item in the speed section to reflect actual game effects. --WoWWiki-Dga (talk) 16:16, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Grand Black War Mammoth Edit

I guess we need to add the Grand Black War Mammoth that drops from Archavon and the two mammoths that can be purchased for Stone Keeper's Shards. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jakyer (talkcontr).

Zebra striping Edit

Perhaps the tables used for this page should be "darktable zebra" striped instead of using the alt (color) tag, given how often they appear to be changed. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Pictures Edit

Those pictures may cause lag on some computers. Also I noticed that since there are so many we should create a page with those images only. BobNamataki (talk) 17:44, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

I agree, the gallery is too large, given everything else this page is trying to do. Many individual mount item pages have their own images. A prominent link to a gallery page at the top would not go badly. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:37, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
Plus I've been working to change up the current type mount pages, which include the images... slow going, mostly cause I haven't felt like doing it lately... but some have been done such as Saber mounts, Kodo mounts, and Talbuk mounts. User:Coobra/Sig4 21:28, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps I took up the reins (pardon the pun) from you, Coobra. I spruced up a fair number of the mount pages, starting with the ones that (I felt) needed the least work. ... probably ones you'd worked on. You'd have to look up the histories to see which. Along the way, I've been sprucing up the individual mount pages, adding images where I find them, uploading images from thottbot or wowhead, adding cats, footers, etc.
There are a couple "XXX mount" pages to go, then I start in on the pages that redirect to the animal type. :( --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:49, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Caution: When the individual 'type' mount pages are done, I intend to remove the gallery from this page in favor of those other pages. You've a bit of time to persuade me out of it if you REALLY want. Best start early, I'm fairly stubborn. ... and the load time on a fast connection is atrocious for this page as-is. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:51, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

+1 for remove this gallery of Mount page. Klakmuf1 (talk) 01:33, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Is this a vote or straight to act issue? BobNamataki (talk) 15:35, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
If someone really wants to push it to a vote, I have no objection. But absent someone really wanting the images to stay, I'll be acting on it. If you would like, for example, representative examples to stay in the gallery, now would be a good time to ask. ... or to do. :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:04, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Can I buyEdit

I was wondering if you can buy a mount without getting the riding skill.--AutisticMajor (talk) 19:52, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

You can but you wouldn't be able to use it--Toasty 04:51, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Swift Alliance Steed/Swift Horde WolfEdit

I thought that these mounts were like the OS drakes, where only one dropped if you completed the achievement. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:34, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Scaleable, and 310% flight Edit

I don't see a list of "scaleable mounts" (those mounts that adjust to current flight restrictions, owner skill level, and/or possession of a 310% flight speed mount). I'd also like to suggest the term "exceptional flying mount" or perhaps "exceptionally fast flying mount" to describe them, rather than rely on terms like "ultra-rare". What do you folks think? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:19, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

A section for those would be nice. As for the pure 310% mounts, I think extremely fast flying mounts would work... already the category name after all =) User:Coobra/Sig4 02:01, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

Mounts before 77 Edit

This is out of date. My Death Knight, Leontaris, knows Cold Weather Flying, and he is only Level 71.$ Insert formula here $ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leogrimn (talkcontr).

Then you obviously used [Tome of Cold Weather Flight], which is mentioned under cold weather flying. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:18, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

4.0.1 Edit

I need the help of someone who understands wiki code. The mount page has a spiffy new subsection for Master Riding Skill (thank you, Joshmaul!), and I want to move and consolidate some info from the 4.0.1 patch note into the new subsection. In addition - and what fouled me up - I want to include an internal link in the information's old location that point's to "Master: Level 80" (the name of new subsection). I read through the help file and I still could not get it to work. Please help me to be less fail? <3 Aliok (talk) 17:34, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Paladin quest for Summon Warhorse still in existence? Edit

The page Summon Warhorse states that Paladins no longer need to do a quest to obtain the Summon Warhorse spell but can, due to some patch, purchase it as a spell from a trainer. This page states that this quest is still in game and the player is rewarded a 'feat of strength' for completing it. If this page is correct then that information should be added to the page Summon Warhorse and if it is incorrect then that information should be removed from this page. Please let me know if you know what the dealio is, at my talk page (cuz i probably won't check this Talk page much). Thanks. Makeswell (talk) 23:50, June 14, 2011 (UTC)

In the movement increasing abilities it mentions the druid and hunter movement forms/aspects. This should probably include shaman's ghost wolf form and it's related talents. Ægasha (talk) 01:28, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
