Boss changes

Sulfurons adds, Flamewalker Priests, do they hit harder since 1.6.0?

I'm a warrior and usually tank a Flamewalker Priest, and it feels like they hit harder now.

Majordomo's teleport, is it confirmed that it's the player on top of his hate list, and not the one closest to him? I've been through 2 Majordomo encounters & every time it's been the shaman we put "inside" majordomo, who's been teleported.

Instance locks?

Could someone explain how the instance saving works here? I've come to understand it's a bit different from normal, and will prevent you from joining a raid that's already progressed somewhat into the instance? Hex 22:06, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

Alright I get it now - each instance will get saved once Lucifron (boss 1) is down. From that point in, everyone who's in the raid won't be able to join a different MC instance until their own instance expires. As I understand it... Hex 19:35, 7 Dec 2005 (EST)

Trash strategy

Should the discussion of the trash mobs have strategy (or at least phrased the way it is)? It seems to say "You must/can only do it this way" rather than "many [beginning] guilds do it this way" --LwoodY2K

Trash mobs moved to individual pages so that their strategy can be safely discussed on their own page, as well as more screenshots, and direct linking is now possible. CJ 06:10, 9 Feb 2006 (EST)

Core Hound Numbers?

Can anyone document what the "standard" numbers for the ancient core hounds are? I frequently hear talk of "core hound 1" or "core hound 6" or the like, in reference to specific patrols, but I've not been able to find a reference for which one is which (which is a pain for communicating with others).

Anyone have a reference?

==Attunement Maybe this is nitpicking, but you don't need to complete Attunement to the Core to enter MC... should that really be listed as a Prereq? Ehertlein 14:31, 11 April 2006 (EDT)

Really? Thats the first time I've ever heard that. A while back the Attunement quest was reset for everyone due to issues with some characters being unable to take it, so it may appear that you havent done the quest when you actually have already completed it...

Well you wouldn't be able to use the entrance outside of BRD to get in, but I am sure I have zoned into MC without completing the Attunement quest when I was just down there to get the shard in the first place. I see someone has changed to wording already to reflect what I was saying. :) Ehertlein 15:03, 11 April 2006 (EDT)

You need to complete the Attunement quest in order to get a RAID into Molten Core. There are two ways to get into the instance: 1: There is an entrance near the end of BRD, but you can't get a full raid into MC that way, since BRD is a 5-man instance. 2: By talking to Lothos after completing the attunement quest; this is the only way to get in with a full raid. With the change in Warlock summoning, it may be possible to get a raid into MC without everyone having to do the attunement. Felindre

Pictures

Is the picture of the 3 fire elementals at the bottom of the page from Molten Core? It looks a lot like the bridge in BRD instead of MC. Should there be non-MC pics on the page?

They are at the BRD bridge, near the entrance to MC. the picture is listed near the guide to the attunement. User:CrazyJack/Sig 05:01, 8 November 2006 (EST)

Update?

defeating Ragnaros is no longer the pinnacle of raid achievement. However, slaying him is still considered a very important step in raid progression

is it? After TBC? I don't think so, am I wrong? I guess no one cared to update this page in the last year... --Lo'oris 13:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

It's probably an important step because Molten Core is still a major Raid instance, even if it can't compete with the ones added in TBC; before moving on to Outlands content, Molten Core is one of the most challenging raids in the game (not to mention the fact that running Molten Core is a good way to train for TBC raids). Direbrew's remote

Quickest way to get to the raid, for those lucky to have it. Might bear mentioning for farmers, etc.

Port in with Remote, run from bar toward the central circle, jump PAST Incendius into the lava, swim to the bridge and up to the entrance. Francis2559 (talk) 15:29, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

Or just use the main raid entrance. Please sign future comments. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:01, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I will. The main raid entrance is a little slow, requiring flight to a nearby FM, then a run to the NPC, then porting in. With the remote, I think a lot of time is saved. Many players have it by now, and I think more people may farm here given how it may disappear in Cata. I think it's helpful advice, I'm not forcing anyone to use it. Francis2559 (talk) 15:29, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
I found it quicker to stay on the upper circle and take the first entrance to the left, to Flamelash's room, and into the lava behind him. You can walk longer instead of swimming, especially useful if your running speed is higher than normal or you can blink. Having some slow fall effect can even save another precious, precous second as you keep your running speed while gliding down. Tongueout ~ Nathanyel (talk) 09:39, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

If someone is farming Molten Core, it might be worth doing the attunement quest, so you can save the trips. The quest allows you to port in from the high elf near the BRD entrance to the Molten Core entrance and isn't terribly long. If you make the trip to MC regularly, it will save you time in the end.

Inconsistency regarding Onyxia's Lair

I didn't play at this time, but from what I know Onyxia's Lair and Molten Core were the only 40 man raids available when World of Warcraft was released. The following statements at the top in the overview section seem to contradict each other and, as I do not know which is correct, I'm not sure which to change.

Top's statement "The Molten Core is a level 60 raid dungeon located within Blackrock Mountain, home to Ragnaros the Firelord. It was one of two forty (40) player raid dungeons available upon release of World of Warcraft, with the other being Onyxia's Lair."

Overview statement "On release, Molten Core was the only 40 man instance in the game, thus Ragnaros was the first "game end boss". With the advent of Blackwing Lair, Ahn'Qiraj, Naxxramas, and the Burning Crusade, defeating Ragnaros has long since ceased to be the pinnacle of raid achievement."

Old Man Tellah (talk) 08:24, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Ragnaros was the end boss of Tier 1 content (albeit dropping Tier 2) while Onyxia already was full Tier 2 content. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 10:18, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
