I doubt we've seen the last of the devious Grand Apothecary Putress just yet. I hope not at least. He is an interesting character, and I would like to see more of him, though I don't know where he would fit in, except maybe in [[Icecrown Citadel]] as a boss and one of the [[Lich King]]'s scientists. Farnell

Is it stated anywhere Putress replaces Farnell, or are we just calling it a safe assumption. Can anyone confirm Farnell's state in beta?Warthok Talk Contribs 04:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

According to the RPG books, Faranell is not the head of the Royal Apothecary Society, but rather of the Research and Development wing of that organization (though because he is the only one of the three department heads to appear in WoW, he is often assumed to be as such). I don't think that - until Putress - there was a named leader of the Society, but I could be wrong. --Joshmaul (talk) 05:55, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain that Putress didn't "replace" anyone, he was just introduced as someone above the other known members. Faranell is still Master Apothecary Faranell, Putress is just a step above him. WoWWiki-Suzaku (talk) 02:43, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Faranell was the first of the Apothecary Society and the one that put it together. He's said to be ahead of the society in several sources.
"There’s an organization here — the Royal Apothecary Society. They mess around with potions, venoms, diseases and other alchemy. Their leader, Master Apothecary Faranell, sends many Forsaken out on missions to gather strange objects..."Template:Cite
So ya even Lands of Conflict states he is the leader of the Royal Apothecary Society. Also point of note, actually LoC states that the Royal Apothecary is lead, and was created by three people, Faranell, Oni'jus, and Brightlfame Masjenal. It also specifically stated that Faranell was leads the three.
The forsaken queen initially chose two brilliant minds to lead her new Apothecary Society. Faranell, a human wizard who excelled in magical potion creation, and Oni’jus, a half-elf infiltrator who was a master of mundane poison concoction (and whose idea it was to add “Royal” in front of their fledgling group’s name). A dwarf tinker, Brightflame Masjenal, later rounded out her three leaders, with Faranell leading the three.Template:Cite
it continues;
...Faranell has the best minds under him working on the problem and they slowly make progress.Template:Cite
So ya Faranell was in charge of everything, and was the leader of the society, the only thing about R&D, was that it reported to him alone, and none of his other subordinates. It never said he was in charge of it alone.
Infact, Faranell was the first member of the society;
The first Royal Apothecary member, this human was a wizard taken by the Scourge at Dalaran.Template:Cite
So ya if Putress is now in charge, something happened for Faranell to lose favor and his position as the leader of the society. Probably the things that Horde Player's Guide mentions about Faranell's and the society failing too many times in her eyes.Template:CiteBaggins (talk) 03:15, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Eh, Farnell appears to still be in Undercity, perhaps Putress in charge of the Northrend chain of operations? Eman91 02:25, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Eman91

Face

I can not tell what his head is. I have looked at the whole Wrathgate thing, and I think it may be a warped skull with the eyes covered by the hood, and what may be the moulth/lower jaw and nose covered by hanging flesh, but what is that black line down the middle? An eye socket?--SWM2448 03:05, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I believe that may be the warlock tier 8 hood. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 03:52, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
He looks fucking badass.
His mask is a crow skull. It also still hasn't been confirmed that the model will be used for T8, but it's sorta looking that way. I wouldn't be surprised either way, since they might want to make it unique to, now that he's suddenly an important character. WoWWiki-Suzaku (talk) 08:33, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

It is indeed the same skull. INV Misc Orb 04Xavius, the Satyr Lord 11:52, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Are you sure it is a 'skull'?? for me it is a simple piece of cloth covering his mouth, same with the guild wars' guy. Pudim17 (talk - contr) 17:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Current Location

Is Putress unvisitable by Horde, even characters who have not completed the Wrathgate chain? From what I'm gathering, the only characters that can see him are Alliance during the Battle for the Undercity. Mibluvr13 (talk) 23:17, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
