The Swift Flight Form quest chain is one way that druids can gain their swift flight form (as well as some useful trinkets). Once you reach level 70 and have trained riding skill to 300, any of the druid trainers will offer the introduction quest. Most sources point to the trainer in Moonglade, Loganaar, as the Teleport: Moonglade spell makes access easy.

Morthis Whisperwing
To complete this quest chain, you will need to enter the heroic Sethekk Halls instance, which requires you have at least honored reputation with the Lower City faction.

Before all of the druidic orders coalesced into the Cenarion Circle, the Druids of the Talon were responsible for teaching promising young druids the mysteries of flight. With the dissolution of the order, former members teach the skill sparingly.

Prerequisites
This quest chain is restricted to druids of level 70 or above, who have 300 riding skill or higher.

+
Introduction
  +
; Neutral
  +
:Any druid trainer will offer you this quest once you meet the prerequisites. Loganaar, in Moonglade is the one most often referred to, though.
  +
:Your trainer informs you that Morthis Whisperwing, a former member of the Druids of the Talon, is seeking a suitable apprentice. This is a notable honor, as members of that order teach their skill only sparingly.

Seek out Morthis Whisperwing at the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh.
+
Disturbing Dreams
  +
You seek out Morthis Whisperwing at Cenarion Refuge, in eastern Zangarmarsh. He agrees to take you on as an apprentice, and demands in return that you be prepared to do all he asks.

* Strategy
+
;Neutral
  +
: The relics used to teach the ways of the Stormcrow were entrusted to a Night Elf currently in the Stormrage Barrow Dens. As his spirit is currently roaming the Emerald Dream, he will need to be woken up.

Not much to this. Just what the quest says.
+
:Morthis asks you to fetch ingredients for a potion that will ease the waking process. You gather Ancient Lichen from the deep and hidden places of the marsh, Bogblossoms from the tops of the mushrooms of the marsh, and Dreaming Glory from the marsh floor itself.

* Completion
+
; Neutral
  +
: Morthis instructs you to go to the Stormrage Barrow Dens, and find Clintar Dreamwalker within it. You are to wake him, and aid him in gathering the relics.

<Morthis considers you somewhat skeptically.>
+
:You travel to Moonglade, and find that the southernmost barrow den is guarded by Cenarion Dreamwardens. What Morthis did not tell you was that the dreamwardens are being kept occupied battling Phantasmal Lashs. No sooner is one defeated than another appears to take its place.

I have long searched for an apprentice to pass my knowledge to. Though the Druids of the Talon are no longer a formal group, I shall remain one to the last of my days.
+
:You have to cut away some wandering plant life on your way, but you find Clintar's body and administer the potion. As expected, he wakes up disoriented ("Morthis?"), a bit hostile, and ... curiously relieved.

I accept you as my apprentice from this moment forward. For my part, I will teach you the secrets of the stormcrow. For your part, you must be prepared to do all I ask. Do you understand?
+
; neutral
  +
: You introduce yourself, and pass on the instructions Morthis gave you. Clintar tells you, though, that he cannot pull completely free of the Emerald Dream, and that what you see here is a mere echo of the Dream itself.

* Rewards
+
:He can, though, split off a portion of his spirit to guide you to the relics. You will have to escort the fragment, though, as it is quite weak alone, and you have already seen the power that the Dream holds here.

+
:You follow the fragment of Clintar's spirit down through the barrow, and visit each of three relics, which Clintar frees, one by one. Near the final relic, you encounter an Aspect of the Raven, which attempts (unsuccessfully) to stop you.

+10 Cenarion Expedition
+
:Clintar's spirit fragment fades, its purpose done. You go to Dreamwarden Lurosa near the entrance of the den to report your success.

The Ward of Wakening
+
;neutral
  +
: Dreamwarden Lurosa directs you to return swiftly with the relics to Morthis Whisperwing. It may be that Morthis can help identify what has invaded the Emerald Dream.

Long ago, the relics used to teach the ways of the stormcrow were entrusted to Clintar Dreamwalker for safekeeping.
+
The Book of the Raven
  +
;neutral
  +
:Returning to Cenarion Refuge, Morthis doesn't have much to offer, to help Clintar directly. However, a researcher in Evergrove might hold a piece of the puzzle. She's been researching an ancient Arakkoa cult in Blade's Edge Mountains that venerates a raven god. If there's a connection between this cult and the troubles in the Emerald Dream, perhaps Arthorn Windsong can find it.

Clintar's body rests in the barrow dens of Moonglade while his spirit roams the Emerald Dream.
+
:You travel to Evergrove to ask her.

I will prepare a potion you can use to ease the waking process. The mixture will require common herbs, as well as bogblossom, which grows on top of the mushrooms in the marsh. Take care in harvesting the blossoms, <Name>, they're quite fragile and may explode violently if mishandled.
+
;Neutral
  +
:Arthorn think Morthis' could be right. However, more details are needed. She's been helping a fellow researcher, Timeon, who has uncovered something called "The book of the raven". References to this scripture seem to indicate that some being "Sai'kkal the Elder" resided near the Vortex Pinnacle crystals.

* Quest Objectives
+
:You are obviously not an Arakkoa, so the spirits won't reveal themselves to you. Without aid, that is. Arthorn has a 'Seer's stone' that, combined with an eye from an Aether Ray, should let you see the spirits.

Bring 10 Bogblossoms, 10 Ancient Lichen, and 10 Dreaming Glory to Morthis Whisperwing at the Cenarion Refuge.
+
:You make use of the Seer's stone, and find that you have adopted the guise of an Arakkoa, to an extent, as well as being able to see their spirits. While the first spirit you question isn't Sai'kkal, it tells you where to find him. And once you find him, you are fortunate that even spirits can occasionally be a bit senile... he takes you for another follower.

* Strategy
+
:Sai'kkal tells you of how the Book of the Raven was stolen, split into pieces, and buried in Skettis. It seems that the raven cult was too much even for those extremists.

The Ancient Lichen and Dreaming Glory can be bought off the auction house, or harvested by a herbalist. The Bogblossoms don't require herbalism to harvest, though they will show up on track if you're a herbalist. They can be found throughout the zone on top of the large mushrooms.
+
:You return to Arthorn with the news. (You also find that Arthorn *really* wants Morthis to take her on as a student.)

The trick with the Bogblossoms is that they'll occassionally explode, knocking you off of the mushroom, so have flight form ready so you don't end up taking a nasty fall. The Bogblossoms seem to explode about 20-25% of the time.
+
; Neutral
  +
:The parts of the Book of the Raven have been buried, and normal eyes are not up to the task of finding the fragments. Other eyes, though, might be. Arthorn suggests you go visit Watcher Elaira up at Twilight Ridge in Nagrand. Elaira may well be able to suggest a way to get help from the keen eyed birds of Nagrand.

* Completion
+
; Neutral
  +
:On a lonely ridge in the furthest west of nagrand, you find Watcher Elaira studying the birds.

Have you brought the Ingredients for the draught? Take care not to get pollen on me, please. I sneeze uncontrollably in its presence.
+
:The Sparrowhawks of Nagrand are the predatory bird with the keenest eyesight. Elaira tells you she can train one, if only you can catch it.

<Morthis sniffs at the indignity represented by a sneeze.>
+
:Twilight Ridge is one of the last areas they can be found, as they've been pushed out of most of Nagrand by the windrocs. This has made them skittish. On the suggestion of Elaira, you prowl close (in cat form), and toss a net on one directly. You bring the sparrowhawk back to Elaira, who sets about training it.

<Morthis accepts the herbs from you, inspecting them. Producing a vial, he begins mixing the potion.>
+
: One quick training montage later...

This will only take a moment, <Name>. Then, you must travel to Moonglade.
+
; Neutral
  +
:Elaira has trained your sparrowhawk to respond to a whistle she hands you. She tells you that the bird will await you in Skettis. When you are done, you are to return the whistle to Arthorn; she will see to it's care and release.

* Rewards
+
:Thus prepared, you venture to Skettis, and begin your search. A few times, you call the Sparrowhawk, but it is unable to find any pieces nearby. A few other times, you have to combat the inhabitants to get peace enough to unearth the fragments. But mostly, the pieces of the tablet seem to have been buried and forgotten, in places that the Arakkoa no longer carefully watch. (Hey, "scattered and buried" seemed safe enough at the time! Especially since nobody knows about it...)

+
; Neutral
  +
: You have recovered most of the tablet, Arthorn tells you, and she is able to interpolate most of what is missing. It seems that the raven's followers captured the raven's 3 most potent rivals, and bound their spirits to stone shrines. You will need to free them, to enable you to bring the Raven into, as it were, "talon's reach".

Take the ward with you and travel to Moonglade, to the Stormrage Barrow Dens. Within the southernmost barrow, watched over by the dreamwardens, you will find Clintar Dreamwalker.
+
: The first of the rivals, Eagle, is bound to a shrine south of Lake Jorune and west of Stonebreaker Hold in Terokkar Forest. The tablet reveals that Eagle was overcome by a swarm of foes. Arthorn recommends you use the armor and endurance of Bear form. She sends you off with a whistle to use. The Sparrowhawk has been trained to serve as ears as well as eyes, it would seem, and even to carry messages.

Administer the potion and watch over him while he wakes. He'll be extremely vulnerable as his spirit reunites with his body and he certainly won't recognize you. Declare yourself to him as soon as he comes around, <Name>. He will need your help to gather the relics for the ceremony.
+
: In a pocket among the peaks, you find the shrine. The Guardian appears, and the two of you do battle. As Arthorn forsaw, he does indeed summon a flock of ravens to his defense while he brings the power of the stars down upon you. In the end, though, he is no match for you.

* Quest Objectives
+
; Neutral
  +
:Arthorn, through the sparrowhawk, tells you that the Eagle's essence is still strong, even after all this time locked away. Next, though, you are to free the essence of Falcon.

Use the Ward of Waking to help Clintar Dreamwalker emerge from the Emerald Dream. When he is conscious, speak to him.
+
:You are directed to Lake Ere'Noru, on the shore of which you find the shrine. You fight the guardian, noting that as time goes on, his attacks become more potent. Fortunately, you are able to defeat him before he overwhelms you.

* Strategy
+
:Taking the Essence from the shrine, you again whistle up Arthorn's Sparrowhawk.

Just teleport to Moonglade, enter the barrows, and use the ward on him (near 75,66). He'll start an escort quest in the rest of the barrows, but the respawn rate is high enough that there isn't really much point in trying to clear the area first.
+
; Neutral
  +
: Through the Sparrowhawk, Arthorn tells you of the Shrine of the Hawk. On a remote (floating) island southeast of Auchindoun (also, roughly due south of Lake Ere'noru) is the last of the shrines. Arthorn tells you that this last guardian was said to be nigh invulnerable to the bird's claws. She advises you to use magic (and avoid physical combat) against the guardian, lest you suffer the fate that Hawk did.

* Completion
+
: You journey across the face of Terokkar Forest, skirting the blight that is the Auchindon plain, and find the shrine as predicted. By cleverly calling upon the island's roots, and calling upon the powers of the moon and stars you grind away at the physical might of the guardian, at last bringing him low.

<You prepare to administer the potion to the sleeping druid.>
+
: You collect the Falcon's essence from the shrine, and begin the long journey back to Evergrove. Arthorn works for a moment, and presents you with an amulet, blessed by each of the spirits you have recently released. This amulet, when worn, will make it easier for you to assume bird form.

<The druid emerges from his sleep, groggy and haggard looking. His gaze darts around the room in search of unseen pursuers.>
+
:: The observant may note that you have effectively been tested on three of your aspects: Bear, Cat, Caster.

Morthis?
+
: The hardest task is yet to come, of course. Morthis Whisperwing will need to find a way to combine them into an amulet, to let you draw the Raven out of the Emerald Dream and defeat him.

No, you're not Morthis... Who are you, <Race>, and why have you disturbed my rest?
+
Defeating Anzu
  +
; Neutral
  +
: Arthorn Windsong prepares her notes, and asks you to take them, and the avian essences, to Morthis Whisperwing at Cenarion Refuge. Before you leave, Arthorn pleads that you tell Morthis of her part in the discoveries, hoping for some recognition from him.

<Despite the hostility of the question, the druid looks almost relieved to have been awakened.>
+
: Morthis accepts the package, and reads Arthorn's notes. (Sadly for Arthorn, he doesn't comment on her work.) At least now, he tells you, we know who your adversary is.

* Rewards
+
; Neutral

+
:Morthis tells you of a rare gemstone from Azshara, the Southfury Moonstone, which would be able to hold the several essences that you've recovered. However, the party that had set out to find one for him has disappeared, leaving just their boat.

+10 Cenarion Expedition
+
:Morthis asks you to go to their site along the Southfury River and look for one of these moonstones.

No Mere Dream
+
:It is a long distance from Cenarion Refuge (a whole world away, in fact). When you arrive there, though, you find that a goblin called Rizzle Sprysprocket has gotten there first. She steals the gem and takes off down river. You pursue her, and when you finally win the race (catching up with her), she surrenders the gem.

<Clintar listens as you relay Morthis' instructions, nodding, but clearly fearful.>
+
;Neutral
  +
:Morthis prepares an Essence-Infused Moonstone for you, and provides you his notes on how the spirits of Hawk, Falcon, and Eagle can help you against Anzu.

I cannot extricate myself fully from the Emerald Dream to help you, but a fragment of my spirit will guide you in your search for the relics. Guard it well, <Race>, for it is a fragile thing.
+
:You are sent to the Sethekk Halls, where you find the raven's claw that Morthis told you of. You mount the moonstone in the claw, and Anzu himself appears out of the Emerald Dream to face your challenge.

The Emerald Dream itself has become an alien, dangerous place. Its grasp on me is strong, and I will not be whole until the Emerald Dream returns to normalcy. What you see around you is but an echo of the reality inside the dream!
+
:The fight is epic. Repeatedly, you infuse your powers into the Hawk, Eagle, and Falcon spirits while your friends assault Anzu. Powerful though he is, Anzu is eventually defeated. ... For now.

* Quest Objectives
+
::See Anzu for strategies for this fight.

Protect Clintar Dreamwalker's Spirit while it gathers the relics of Aviana, then speak to Dreamwarden Lurosa.
+
: You return to Cenarion Refuge and to Morthis Whisperwing with news of your triumph. Morthis congratulates you on your victory, saying that defeating Anzu was a greater feat than any trial he would have set to you otherwise. He declares you worthy of the knowledge guarded by the Druids of the Talon, and provides you with an Idol of the Raven Goddess.

+
;Neutral
  +
: Morthis echos your fears. Anzu may well try again. Morthis asks you to keep the Essence-Infused Moonstone and wield it once again, should Anzu make another attempt.

Basic escort quest, which is pretty easy as you travel to each of the three relics. However, the respawn rate is high enough that you may get swarmed on your way out back to Lurosa. To help, you might run ahead and try to pull smaller groups back toward you and Clintar, to keep the numbers more manageable. The catch is once Clintar is in range of the mobs, they will always attack him which can cause him to die rather quickly if there are too many.

You can use the fact that you can't aggro anything that is fighting Clintar to your advantage by popping out of forms to heal Clintar. You should also buff him, to give him that extra edge. When Clintar is not in combat he heals very quickly, so you shouldn't have to heal him between fights, but keep an eye on his health if you pull three or more at a time.

Between the second and third relics, you'll fight the Aspect of the Raven. It's not any harder than anything else you've fought, but the fact the aspect was there leads on to the rest of the epic flight form quest.

From what you've told me, Morthis's suspicions seem plausible, but we need confirmation.

In his research, Timeon has uncovered clues that a "book of the raven" served as an ancient scripture to the cult. It is always mentioned in connection with the name "Sai'kkal the Elder" among "the high sacred crystals."

The arakkoa spirits will not reveal themselves to your eyes. Take this stone with you to the Vortex Pinnacle near Ogri'la, obtain an aether ray eye, and combine them to augment your sight.

* Quest Objectives

Use an Aether Ray Eye with your Seer's Stone to reveal the raven cult ghosts. Search the Vortex Pinnacle for the spirit of Sai'kkal the Elder and question him about the book of the raven, then return to Arthorn Windsong.

* Strategy

Fly to the Vortex Pinnacle and kill an Aethor Ray (near 32,51). Drop rate on the eye seems to be 100%. The only difficulty might be finding a clear spot to fight one in, so you may need to clear a spot in which to fight. The boars that wander around are KoS, but the rays are not.

Once you have an eye, use the stone. You'll get a five minute buff that will allow you to see the arakkoa spirits wandering the pinnacle. If you talk to one of the spirits, they'll tell you to look near the ogre village. On a side note, the ogres are relatively friendly, and offer some quests of their own.

I found Sai'kkal wandering outside the ogre village, near 31,56. Once you find him, talk to him and listen to everything he has to say (you'll automatically get a buff that disguises you as his son):

Rokkaram, is that you?

Forgive me for questioning you, my son. My sight isn't what it once was, but the raven has blessed me with a long life.

Soon it will be time for you to take my place. I have taught you all I know. My only regret is that I didn't prove worthy enough to recover our sacred Book of the Raven.

The true believers have lived in shame since the day our treacherous cousins in Skettis stole the book from us, shattered its tablet, and buried the fragments in their wretched city!

Pray that the raven will choose you to restore it, my son. Be faithful and remember always the prophecy, "From the dreams of his enemies shall the raven spring forth into the world."

Once you've listened to everything, fly back to Evergrove.

Gather 8 Raven Stones from Skettis and bring them to Arthorn Windsong at Evergrove in Blade's Edge Mountains.

* Strategy

This quest started out to be a pain, but in the end wasn't too bad. Don't waste your time in the valley and near the lake, as the tooltip on the whistle suggests - all the stones that I found were in Skettis itself. If you summon the sparrowhawk near the edge of Skettis, you can avoid most combat with the arakkoa.

The hidden stones are scattered randomly; it is possible to complete the quest with no combat at all. Try the whistle, move 20 yards, try the whistle again.

Note: The Skyguard base has a flyer which is a quick and easy way to get to the hand-in, if your faction with them is high enough. If you are alliance however, it is faster to go to Allerian Post and fly directly to Evergrove

* Strategy

This fight is tough, but can definitely be soloed. Fly to the Shrine of the Eagle in Terokkar Forest (46,45) and click on the shrine to summon its guardian. The guardian will summon a large number of ravens to protect him. Just stay in bear form and use your bear abilities to take him down. Demoralizing Roar seemed to be particularly effective in reducing the amount of damage you take. (Note: Demo roar is a must. Each of the birds hit for around 100-150 regularly, but their damage will be reduced to 1 if demo roar is spammed. Due to the pace at which the hawks spawn, demo roar should be used every GCD to apply demo roar to all the birds.)

How to solo as resto druid: Put up MOTW and Thorns. Before the fight starts stack a max rank regrowth and a rejuv. If you get low just barkskin and immediately toss a rejuv and lifebloom, with barkskin + demo shout, the birds will be hitting you for 1 even in caster form. If you get extremely low you can also natures swiftness+healing touch and immediately switch back to bear form (2.3 makes this much easier)

When you've won, use the whistle to summon the sparrowhawk and proceed to the next part.

PTR: When I did the quest on PTR, the shrine was bugged so that it would almost always say that you were out of range, even if you were standing right on top of the shrine. Also, when you die, there's no way to get back to your corpse, so you have to eat the rez sickness and extra durability loss. Hopefully these will be fixed before the quest gets moved to production (edit: not fixed as of 10/21/07).

Fly to the Shrine of the Falcon in Terokkar Forest (60,60) and summon the guardian. This one is pretty much a DPS race, so cat form is the way to go. The guardian casts a debuff on you every so often that increases your magic damage taken by 10% each time it stacks, so kill him fast or his dmg will destroy you. Just lay into him with everything you've got. He'll occassionally use a knockback spell called Twisting Blast that will throw you back quite a distance. Position yourself so that he knocks you into a wall, not into the water. Use Dash to run back to him before he does too much damage with his ranged spells (which can do 2000 to 2500 shadow damage in rapid succession). You can also use Maim to stun him for a few seconds in order to get a heal or two off during the fight. If you are in humanoid form and he Hexes you into a frog, don't forget shapeshifting breaks polymorph effects.

Note: Balance druids are better off doing this fight in Moonkin form. The fight is not a matter of using any special abilities, but rather of killing the boss as fast as possible. In Moonkin form, you will still be immune to his hex, and should be able to do more dps than you would as a cat.

Fly to the Shrine of the Hawk (45,92). Should be a straight forward root and nuke. However, my caster gear really sucks, so I was not able to solo this as a feral druid. Tried respeccing to balance, which would have probably done the trick, but there happened to be another druid there doing the quest, so he helped me out. He said he was a feral druid, and didn't seem to have any problem soloing the guardian, so it was probably just me.

Note: To kill the guardian, you must use entangling roots. He hits for around 1000 damage on average, so taking hits is out of the question. While rooted, he will use Viper sting (Drains mana) and Curse of blood (increases damage done to you by 100%), so keep Abolish poison and Remove Curse to easy to use hotkeys. Other than that, nuke him down and he shouldn't be a problem.

Note: He takes 500% damage from magical spells. Meaning Roots do 300 damage every 3 seconds, wrath does 2650, moonfire 1850 w/ 540 dot, starfire 4200.

This quest isn't too difficult, especially if you know what to expect. First travel to the moonstone altar in Azshara (near 14,47). When you activate the altar, you'll be sapped by Rizzle Sprysprocket, a goblin rogue, who will steal the moonstone from you and jump into the river. When the sap wears off, jump in the river after her and switch to aquatic form.

She'll do two things to slow your pursuit. First, she'll leave depth charges behind her, which if you hit them will knock you out of the water and shift you back into caster form. These are pretty easy to avoid, and by sticking to the right side of the river I pretty much avoided all of them without having to worry about them too much.

Her second trick is she'll occassionally root you with ice. Simply shift out of form to break the root, then shift back into aquatic form.

If you let her get too far ahead like I did, you'll eventually go past some speed boots that you can grab that will accellerate you for a short time. Even if she gets pretty far ahead, though, you still shouldn't have any problem catching up with her.

To complete this quest chain, you will need to enter the heroic Sethekk Halls instance, which requires you have at least honored reputation with the Lower City faction.

Completing Vanquish the Raven God grants the Feat of Strength achievement Ability druid flightform [Swift Flight Form]

Swift Flight Form quest chain Edit

Prerequisites Edit

This quest chain is restricted to druids of level 70 or above, who have 300 riding skill or higher.

Introduction Edit

Neutral 15 [70] Morthis Whisperwing
Any druid trainer will offer you this quest once you meet the prerequisites. Loganaar, in Moonglade is the one most often referred to, though.
Your trainer informs you that Morthis Whisperwing, a former member of the Druids of the Talon, is seeking a suitable apprentice. This is a notable honor, as members of that order teach their skill only sparingly.

Disturbing Dreams Edit

You seek out Morthis Whisperwing at Cenarion Refuge, in eastern Zangarmarsh. He agrees to take you on as an apprentice, and demands in return that you be prepared to do all he asks.

Neutral 15 [70] The Ward of Wakening
The relics used to teach the ways of the Stormcrow were entrusted to a Night Elf currently in the Stormrage Barrow Dens. As his spirit is currently roaming the Emerald Dream, he will need to be woken up.
Morthis asks you to fetch ingredients for a potion that will ease the waking process. You gather Ancient Lichen from the deep and hidden places of the marsh, Bogblossoms from the tops of the mushrooms of the marsh, and Dreaming Glory from the marsh floor itself.
Neutral 15 [70] Waking the Sleeper
Morthis instructs you to go to the Stormrage Barrow Dens, and find Clintar Dreamwalker within it. You are to wake him, and aid him in gathering the relics.
You travel to Moonglade, and find that the southernmost barrow den is guarded by Cenarion Dreamwardens. What Morthis did not tell you was that the dreamwardens are being kept occupied battling Phantasmal Lashs. No sooner is one defeated than another appears to take its place.
You have to cut away some wandering plant life on your way, but you find Clintar's body and administer the potion. As expected, he wakes up disoriented ("Morthis?"), a bit hostile, and ... curiously relieved.
Neutral 15 [70] No Mere Dream
You introduce yourself, and pass on the instructions Morthis gave you. Clintar tells you, though, that he cannot pull completely free of the Emerald Dream, and that what you see here is a mere echo of the Dream itself.
He can, though, split off a portion of his spirit to guide you to the relics. You will have to escort the fragment, though, as it is quite weak alone, and you have already seen the power that the Dream holds here.
You follow the fragment of Clintar's spirit down through the barrow, and visit each of three relics, which Clintar frees, one by one. Near the final relic, you encounter an Aspect of the Raven, which attempts (unsuccessfully) to stop you.
Clintar's spirit fragment fades, its purpose done. You go to Dreamwarden Lurosa near the entrance of the den to report your success.
Neutral 15 [70] Return to Morthis Whisperwing
Dreamwarden Lurosa directs you to return swiftly with the relics to Morthis Whisperwing. It may be that Morthis can help identify what has invaded the Emerald Dream.

The Book of the Raven Edit

Neutral 15 [70] To the Evergrove
Returning to Cenarion Refuge, Morthis doesn't have much to offer, to help Clintar directly.
You travel to Evergrove to ask her.
Neutral 15 [70] The Book of the Raven
Arthorn think Morthis' could be right. However, more details are needed. She's been helping a fellow researcher, Timeon, who has uncovered something called "The book of the raven". References to this scripture seem to indicate that some being "Sai'kkal the Elder" resided near the Vortex Pinnacle crystals.
You are obviously not an Arakkoa, so the spirits won't reveal themselves to you. Without aid, that is. Arthorn has a 'Seer's stone' that, combined with an eye from an Aether Ray, should let you see the spirits.
You make use of the Seer's stone, and find that you have adopted the guise of an Arakkoa, to an extent, as well as being able to see their spirits. While the first spirit you question isn't Sai'kkal, it tells you where to find him. And once you find him, you are fortunate that even spirits can occasionally be a bit senile... he takes you for another follower.
Sai'kkal tells you of how the Book of the Raven was stolen, split into pieces, and buried in Skettis. It seems that the raven cult was too much even for those extremists.
You return to Arthorn with the news. (You also find that Arthorn *really* wants Morthis to take her on as a student.)
Neutral 15 [70] Eyes in the Sky
The parts of the Book of the Raven have been buried, and normal eyes are not up to the task of finding the fragments. Other eyes, though, might be. Arthorn suggests you go visit Watcher Elaira up at Twilight Ridge in Nagrand. Elaira may well be able to suggest a way to get help from the keen eyed birds of Nagrand.
Neutral 15 [70] To Catch a Sparrowhawk
On a lonely ridge in the furthest west of nagrand, you find Watcher Elaira studying the birds.
The Sparrowhawks of Nagrand are the predatory bird with the keenest eyesight. Elaira tells you she can train one, if only you can catch it.
Twilight Ridge is one of the last areas they can be found, as they've been pushed out of most of Nagrand by the windrocs. This has made them skittish. On the suggestion of Elaira, you prowl close (in cat form), and toss a net on one directly. You bring the sparrowhawk back to Elaira, who sets about training it.
One quick training montage later...
Neutral 15 [70] The Raven Stones
Elaira has trained your sparrowhawk to respond to a whistle she hands you. She tells you that the bird will await you in Skettis. When you are done, you are to return the whistle to Arthorn; she will see to it's care and release.
Thus prepared, you venture to Skettis, and begin your search.
It is not much later that you find yourself flying back to Evergrove to see if Arthorn can reconstruct the scripture from these parts.
Neutral 15 [70] The Eagle's Essence
You have recovered most of the tablet, Arthorn tells you, and she is able to interpolate most of what is missing. It seems that the raven's followers captured the raven's 3 most potent rivals, and bound their spirits to stone shrines. You will need to free them, to enable you to bring the Raven into, as it were, "talon's reach".
The first of the rivals, Eagle, is bound to a shrine south of Lake Jorune and west of Stonebreaker Hold in Terokkar Forest.
In a pocket among the peaks, you find the shrine. The Guardian appears, and the two of you do battle. As Arthorn forsaw, he does indeed summon a flock of ravens to his defense while he brings the power of the stars down upon you. In the end, though, he is no match for you.
Neutral 15 [70] The Falcon's Essence
Arthorn, through the sparrowhawk, tells you that the Eagle's essence is still strong, even after all this time locked away. Next, though, you are to free the essence of Falcon.
You are directed to Lake Ere'Noru, on the shore of which you find the shrine. You fight the guardian, noting that as time goes on, his attacks become more potent. Fortunately, you are able to defeat him before he overwhelms you.
Taking the Essence from the shrine, you again whistle up Arthorn's Sparrowhawk.
Neutral 15 [70] The Hawk's Essence
Through the Sparrowhawk, Arthorn tells you of the Shrine of the Hawk.
You journey across the face of Terokkar Forest, skirting the blight that is the Auchindon plain, and find the shrine as predicted. By cleverly calling upon the island's roots, and calling upon the powers of the moon and stars you grind away at the physical might of the guardian, at last bringing him low.
You collect the Falcon's essence from the shrine, and begin the long journey back to Evergrove. Arthorn works for a moment, and presents you with an amulet, blessed by each of the spirits you have recently released. This amulet, when worn, will make it easier for you to assume bird form.
The observant may note that you have effectively been tested on three of your aspects: Bear, Cat, Caster.
The hardest task is yet to come, of course. Morthis Whisperwing will need to find a way to combine them into an amulet, to let you draw the Raven out of the Emerald Dream and defeat him.

Defeating Anzu Edit

Neutral 15 [70] Return to Cenarion Refuge
Arthorn Windsong prepares her notes, and asks you to take them, and the avian essences, to Morthis Whisperwing at Cenarion Refuge. Before you leave, Arthorn pleads that you tell Morthis of her part in the discoveries, hoping for some recognition from him.
Morthis accepts the package, and reads Arthorn's notes. (Sadly for Arthorn, he doesn't comment on her work.) At least now, he tells you, we know who your adversary is.
Neutral 15 [70] Chasing the Moonstone
Morthis tells you of a rare gemstone from Azshara, the Southfury Moonstone, which would be able to hold the several essences that you've recovered. However, the party that had set out to find one for him has disappeared, leaving just their boat.
Morthis asks you to go to their site along the Southfury River and look for one of these moonstones.
It is a long distance from Cenarion Refuge (a whole world away, in fact). When you arrive there, though, you find that a goblin called Rizzle Sprysprocket has gotten there first. She steals the gem and takes off down river. You pursue her, and when you finally win the race (catching up with her), she surrenders the gem.
Neutral 15 [70] Vanquish the Raven God
Morthis prepares an Essence-Infused Moonstone for you, and provides you his notes on how the spirits of Hawk, Falcon, and Eagle can help you against Anzu.
You are sent to the Sethekk Halls, where you find the raven's claw that Morthis told you of. You mount the moonstone in the claw, and Anzu himself appears out of the Emerald Dream to face your challenge.
The fight is epic. Repeatedly, you infuse your powers into the Hawk, Eagle, and Falcon spirits while your friends assault Anzu. Powerful though he is, Anzu is eventually defeated. ... For now.
See Anzu for strategies for this fight.
You return to Cenarion Refuge and to Morthis Whisperwing with news of your triumph. Morthis congratulates you on your victory, saying that defeating Anzu was a greater feat than any trial he would have set to you otherwise. He declares you worthy of the knowledge guarded by the Druids of the Talon, and provides you with an Idol of the Raven Goddess.
Neutral 15 [70] Eternal Vigilance
Morthis echos your fears. Anzu may well try again. Morthis asks you to keep the Essence-Infused Moonstone and wield it once again, should Anzu make another attempt.
