Storm dragons are dragons found within the elemental plane of Skywall. They are servants of , allied with . The largest of the storm dragons is , who is said to command the wind currents that buffet the elemental fortress of the Vortex Pinnacle.
These dragons are native to the elemental plane of air.
Some may have banded together to create something along the lines of a "Storm Dragonflight" as the other dragon sub-races did, but there is no evidence of this to date. Their origins are unknown; if they were once proto-drakes native to Azeroth they may have been altered by the titans, as the Dragon Aspects were at one point. It is also entirely likely that they are pure elemental beings and not flesh and blood dragons at all.
Some believe there are ties between these dragons and the Thorignir Dragonflight of the Broken Isles. However there is almost no support for this theory other than the fact they are both related to storms and a single quest text reference, the objective of the Stormheim quest, , which says: Storm Dragon Charges collected (10), but refers to them as "storm drakes" in all the rest of the quest text. In-game files and photographs separate them as "SkywallDragons" from Cataclysm and "StormDragons" from Legion. While there could be a connection, there is no solid evidence unless a "storm drake" is proved to be a "storm dragon".
- It is not clear if storm dragons are a distinct dragonflight or part of an existing one like the Blue dragonflight.
