Shrine of Aessina

Shrine of Aessina.

The Shrine of Aessina[25.49, 48.34]VZ-AshenvaleBlip is located in southwestern Ashenvale, southwest of Maestra's Post, south of House of Edune, and west of Astranaar. After the Cataclysm, its only inhabitant is the ancient of war known as Big Baobob.

The shrine became a site of battle between the Alliance and the Horde during the Fourth War. The Alliance sought to rebuild its defenses, while the Horde was determined to burn it to the ground.[1]

In the RPG[]

Icon-RPG This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

Built ages ago by the night elves, this ancient shrine dedicated to the wilderness spirit Aessina lies in the midst of a forest glade in Ashenvale's heart. The shrine is a clear forest pool with a statue of Aessina, standing beside it, clothed only in ivy. Dryads are known to visit the shrine to venerate her.[2]

Notes[]

  • A Warcraft III manual map shows a place called Dryad Shrine in eastern Ashenvale. It may have been related to the RPG description stated above.
    • The same map also placed Ancient Ruins similarly to the location of the Shrine of Aessina in World of Warcraft.
