Feathermoon Glossary

178

Harkens back to the official WoW.com/feathermoon boards when a notorious rabble-rouser named Soulblade infamously began a thread simply to boast of his "Awesome PvP Skillz", stated in the subject line as:

Me 178 today Horde 7.

Needless to say, this led to the Great Soulblade Flamewar of '05 which raged across factions and threads for weeks, before dying down with Soulblade's merciful disappearance. The entry of the ratio "178:7" into the Feathermoon lexicon was just one of the inexorable ripples of this great storm.

To be "178:7", or simply "178" at something means that you are not only good at something, but so good at it that you deserve boasting rights.

Usage:

Usually posted as "<subject> 178, <insert adversary or subject here> 7"

See also Soulblade, below.

Deeprun Tram Incident

A hoax documentary where a person playing a dwarf 'stumbled' upon a pair of elves cybering in the tram. Has spawned an influx of leetdewds and given the server some infamy.

Golden Furbolg Awards

(Define me!)

Kull

Warrior of Low Red Moon. Gained fame due to his absolutely fearsome defence of Tarren Mill during the days before battlegrounds. Legend has it that The Kulls appearance on the battlefield has made entire Alliance lines break and run. Learn more from KNN! Hail Kull!

Murloc

Feathermoon equivalent to "Forum Troll".

Orgininally thought up by the crazy Troll known only as Zajingo Zingo, this apparently Feathermoon standard has become widely used and excepted. Starting off as a small cry by this Troll for racial steriotyping, erupted into a full fledged campain for the term "Forum Troll" to be disregarded entirely. "Don't feed the Murloc!" is a common reply to those attempting to flame the boards.

Soulblade

A Night Elf Hunter of Feathermoon, Achievement dungeon icecrown frostmourne [Soulblade] coined the phrase "<insert anything, relevent or not> 178, <insert another thing, relevent or not> 7."

Example)

Cuppycake 178, Danishes 7 Translation: Cuppycake is better than Danishes.

or

(the) Kull 178, EVERYONE ELSE 7 Translation: Kull is better than EVERYONE ELSE.

The original 178, 7 post was entitled, "Me 178, Horde 7" or something to that nature.

Achievement dungeon icecrown frostmourne [Soulblade] then dissappeared for months, sparking a search team and several funeral services. When he eased back into the scene in December of 2005, the feathermoon population rejoiced.

The Shattered Hand

A secret group within Orgrimmar full of spies, thieves and con artists. This group plans on removing Thrall from his throne.

TarqMamba, Inc.

(Define me!)

Thunderblade

Continuing the famed "Page 8" tradition of completely and utterly making an idiot of oneself on the forums, Thunderblade became famous for being a ninja (his first mistake), getting called out for changing his character name, then posting on the forums under said new character name denying he was Thunderblade. Unfortunately, his signature still read "THUNDERBLADE", inspiring the warcry of easily amused people the world over.

The Battle of Hillsbrad

April 2005 to October 2005

This title refers to the most intense period of inter-faction warfare which focused on the environs in and around the Horde town of Tarren Mill in the. Considered by many to be the ordeal which gave rise to some of the best and worst examples of the PvP skill and decorum in the history of Azeroth.

For an in-depth history of the Battle, click here.

The Crossroads

A frequent site of Alliance antagonism of younger Horde players, situated deep within the Horde territory of The Barrens. Not as common a site of combat as on account of its remoteness from Alliance lands, Crossroads nevertheless suffered and continues to suffer from its fair share of assaults, exacerbated by the relatively low character level of Horde players within the Barrens.

Many Horde players associate their first and most educational PvP experiences with pitched defences of the Crossroads, usually against larger forces comprised of higher level players.

(date?) Purgatory Dust

(A note on Tarquin's Pillow.

Oathbreaker.

Calling for truce, then attacking when the Horde numbers where even further thinned was brilliant. You are saluted for your wicked genius and abuse of the Honor of the Horde Warriors.

For this you have been condemned to a special hell...

I have sent my agents with a gift of my most wicked and terrible possession - Purgatory Dust.

Perhaps you have heard of it, perhaps not. It is a vile poison of the Gurubashi Trolls. used to break the spirit of the most hardened and defiant of their Darkspear Slaves. Now you shall truly know the pain of my people, in a way no human ever has.

I give you this gift.

For three days and three nights you will dream of horrible sufferings, each as real and vivid as the flesh of the waking world. You will suffocate, be burned alive, torn apart by lashes, drowned for breath.

You will die countless times, and you will beg and pray that after each dream that the death you face is real, rather than face another.

You will see the death of all those you love, and you will not know which moment is real or dream from one to the next.

You may decide to fall upon your own blade to end this terrible state, I would not recommend it, as it that too may only be another dream for you to suffer.

Blessings of the Loas upon you.

Warmest Regards, Degmarlee

Oh and Tarquin, the poison is finely ground into the letter itself. You've breathed it already, it does not take but a pindrop to condemn you to it's nightmare. I have applied a hundred times this amount, you should feel honored.

Sleep well. )

Archdruid "elections"

5/05, 5/06 - Each year during the first week of May the Archdruid of Kalimdor is selected. The Archdruid represents the interests of all druids, Tauren and Night Elf, and traditionally serves as a moderating influence on Archdruid Staghelm. While called an election, and indeed votes are cast, the current Archdruid merely takes the votes into consideration while selecting a successor. Archdruid Nim began the tradition, and passed the garland on to Chelody Smallwing.
