Ability Warrior Challange

Riposte (an ability available as a talent in the Combat tree) is a rogue's only offensive disarming ability.

Functionality

A strike that becomes active after parrying an opponent's attack. This attack deals 150% weapon damage and disarms the target for 6 sec.

Use

10 Energy
Instant Cast
5 yard range
6 second cooldown

Limitations

  • Requires you to have recently parried an enemy's attack, which means that the enemy must be hitting you.
  • The Disarm portion has no effect against unarmed opponents (like beasts).
  • As of Patch 2.3, Riposte will be subject to Diminishing Returns in PVP.

Tips

  • Riposte is most useful against warriors, hunters, paladins, and other rogues; disabling their weapons takes most of their bite away.
  • Riposte isn't "tied" to your target; if you parry one mob's attack you can then use Riposte on a different mob.
  • You cannot create macros that automatically check for buffs or debuffs on a target and change abilities accordingly, but you can create a macro that will randomly choose between your main attack and Riposte, like so:
/startattack
/castrandom Sinister Strike, Riposte
  • Useful in solo leveling, since it's pretty cheap (10 Energy) and lets you take advantage of the +5% parry chances, but unluckily no combo points added.
  • The Floating Combat Text inteface options can be set to display a message when Riposte becomes usable.
