In World of Warcraft, rare can mean a couple of things.
- The level of item quality above Uncommon, but below Epic. Some people call this "Superior".
- Additional notes
- The names of Rare quality items will appear in blue.
- Equippable items of Rare quality almost always have one or more attribute bonuses and some have procs.
- Equippable items at Rare quality and above can be disenchanted by characters with the Enchanting profession.
- Some ingredient items are of Rare quality.
- Also a "rare" spawning mob or monster which is on a different timer than usual or a mob which only spawns X out of every Y instances you enter. Rare mobs have a silver dragon around their portrait.
