Alliance Crest Alliance Trauma
Who: Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen
Where: Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh
Requires Level 35
Requires First Aid Skill 225
Quest Level 45
Experience Awarded 3900 (at level 35 or 39)

Objectives

Save patients by using Triage Bandages to tend to their wounds. You must save 15 patients before 6 of them die from their injuries.

Remember the order of triage! Critically Injured Soldiers die the fastest followed by Badly Injured Soldiers. Injured Soldiers take the longest to die and should be saved AFTER your Critically Injured and Badly Injured Soldiers have been triaged.

Quest Text

Good day, doctor. You will be tested on your ability to triage patients accordingly this afternoon. Should you pass your examination, you will join the prestigious ranks of Alliance Trauma.

Now pay attention! The critically injured must be tended to first. After the criticals come the badly injured. The injured should be tended to last. You must save 15 patients to pass this exam. You will fail should 6 of your patients die in triage.

Good luck, doctor.

Notes

This is the final step towards Artisan level First Aid. These tips are primarily for Alliance, but could easily be applied to the Horde version.

The quest is to bandage 15 patients before 6 die (fade).

  1. Go to Theramore Isle and see Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen (Thottbot) <Trauma Surgeon> in the far right corner of the keep where the soldiers practice with combat dummies.
  2. Its best to position yourself just beyond the trauma surgeon, between him and the bunk beds, before you take the quest. Also have a spare command slot available for the bandages he gives you, so you can just press a number to apply the bandages.
  3. When you take the quest, the surgeon will give you Inv misc bandage 12 [Triage Bandage] (Thottbot) (20 charges). After taking the bandages, drag them from your backpack to the command slot you set aside as fast as possible and look for injured soldiers on the bunk beds. If you are positioned right, you can bandage them without moving or only moving a little.
  4. Bandage the patients in this priority order:
    • Critically Injured
    • Badly Injured
    • Injured
If there are multiples of the same type try to bandage the first one that you remember appearing because they will fade first.
  5. Click on the patient and immediately hit the number for your bandage. While you are bandaging, look around (I hold down left-mouse-button and move the mouse around) for the next patient to bandage in priority order.
  6. As soon as you finish bandaging a patient, try to click and bandage the next priority patient which you should have figured out while bandaging the previous one. If you have to move, try to do it quickly (click both mouse buttons while looking at the patient).
  7. Keep doing steps 5 and 6 while remembering the priority in step 4. Eventually the surgeon will show a gold ? and you're done. You should have 5 bandages left.

Thats pretty much the system. You will lose a couple (I usually lose 2-4), but should complete the quest with no problems.

Only one player can do the quest at a time, but you can use your spare bandages to help someone else (which is great), I believe. So, if someone has been waiting patiently for you to finish, ask them if you can use your spare bandages to help them (usually by bandaging critically or badly injured patients who they don't seem to be looking at).

Hope that helps. --Fandyllic
