Shadowform does not lock the Holy school, but only the Holy tree. That is the reason why Holy spells from the Discipline tree, such as Power Word: Shield, can still be cast without removing Shadowform. However, as of Patch 2.3, if you are in Shadowform and try to use an ability that may not be used while in Shadowform, you will leave it and use that ability. This function can be disabled with the command: /console autoUnshift 0

The character looks translucent black while in Shadowform. While mounted, the priest's mount also gains this appearance.

Tips and tactics

 • As it does not trigger the global cooldown, it gives you 1.5 sec of free time. This time frame can be used to bring off a Ability warlock howlofterror [Howl of Terror].
 • Although extremely mana inefficient for a single target, Shadowfury can be used for kiting.
 • For groups the efficiency is comparable to Blizzard.

Past changes

Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): "Can now be cast while moving. Stun duration increased to 3 seconds, up from 2."
Bc icon Patch 2.1.0 (2007-05-22): "...now properly benefits from the Intensity talent."

Notes

Shadowfury was also a name of a random Demon Hunter in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
