Discovering Your Roots is part of the Shattered Sun Offensive storyline. Once players have built the Alchemy Lab, [25-30 Daily] Rediscovering Your Roots replaces this quest. This quest is made available once players have recovered the Sun's Reach Harbor.
Objectives[]
Mar'nah at Sun's Reach Harbor wants you to travel to Razorthorn Rise in Outland, collect 5 Razorthorn Roots, and return to her.
Description[]
Greetings, <race>.
I'm afraid I have little to offer here until my reagents are stocked.
Of the supplies I require, there is a special reagent, razorthorn root, that is particularly difficult to harvest.
Fortunately, I know a secret....
Using the glands of the Razorthorn flayers, one can control a ravager there and use it to expose a root.
To find the roots, travel to Outland and fly northeast from Shattrath until you reach Razorthorn Rise.
Rewards[]
You will receive: [Shattered Sun Supplies] and 3 40
Progress[]
Really, <name>, I'm far too busy for idle chatter.
Let me know when you've gathered those roots.
Completion[]
These should do nicely, <class>.
I thank you for your assistance.
Notes[]
Kill Razorthorn Flayers on Razorthorn Rise until a [Razorthorn Flayer Gland] drops. Use the Gland on any Razorthorn Ravager on the Rise. Pet classes will have their permanent pet, if out, temporarily replaced as long as the Ravager is being used.
Now that players have a new (temporary, but not time-limited) permanent pet, the pet action bar has a unique action. "Expose Razorthorn Root" (default hotkey control-7) will send the Ravager to a nearby Razorthorn Dirt Mound. Once the Ravager digs up the mound, right-click on the [Razorthorn Root] object that's now visible. Collect 5, then fly back to Shattrath and port back to the Isle to turn in.
As of 04/22/08 many of the ravagers are evade-bugged. If you use a gland on a bugged ravager, nothing happens and you'll lose the gland. If you're a hunter you can use Hunter's Mark on the ravager; if the mark holds, it isn't bugged and you can use your gland, but if the mark pops the Evade message, find another. Hunter abilities such as Mend Pet, Bestial Wrath, and Intimidation work with this temporary ravager pet.
Only one person in a party needs to control a ravager; the roots it exposes are lootable by anyone in the party.
