Q u o t e:

After accepting the quest, while walking with Malfurion.

Malfurion Stormrage: This... you are certain this came from the Defiler himself?
Malfurion Stormrage: I have encountered this power once before, within the depths of the Emerald Dream, near an abyss known as the Rift of Aln.
Malfurion Stormrage: That place radiated an ancient evil with such intensity that we dared not venture closer.
Malfurion Stormrage: It was all we could do to attempt to seal the taint away from the rest of the Dream. But it appears that we failed.
Malfurion Stormrage: And now, to find a fragment of that power in the hands of the Legion? A terrible portent....
Malfurion Stormrage: I must return to the place of my tutelage, the primal groves of Val'sharah, to seek guidance.
Malfurion Stormrage: By giving us warning of this danger, you may have saved us all. Please speak with Keeper Remulos before you depart.

  • The fact that Malfurion explicitly states he is heading to Val'sharah, one of the next expansion's new zones, offers a possibility this quest chain (or at least the story) may continue in Legion-Logo-SmallWorld of Warcraft: Legion.
  • It is speculated that the "ancient evil" Malfurion speaks of encountering at the Rift of Aln within the Emerald Dream, may be none other than one of the old gods, residing somewhere within the depths of Azeroth's seas.[1]
