Practice Lock is an item usually made by Engineers that can be used once to practice Lockpicking skill. This is a slow and potentially expensive way to increase your Lockpicking skill.
(( Note: Be cautious when buying Practice Locks at the Auction House from other players. There is no way to determine if the Practice Lock is new or has been used, until you actually buy it. Unfortunately, the auctioneer allows unscrupulous players to post their used Practice Locks on the auction block. This note is accurate as of 2006-Nov-16 until Blizzard fixes this. ))
