Sunfire is a druid ability, learned when choosing the Ability mage firestarter [Sunfire] druid talent.

If this talent is chosen, then any Spell nature starfall [Moonfire] (arcane damage) cast automatically becomes Sunfire (nature damage). This means that your Moonfire casts benefit from Solar Eclipse effect, instead of only during Lunar Eclipse. Eclipse gives +37% damage, increased by Mastery.

Except for the spell school change, it is exactly the same as Moonfire, so all talents and Glyphs affecting Moonfire also affect Sunfire, such as Achievement worldevent lunar [Lunar Shower] and Inv glyph primedruid [Glyph of Moonfire].

Notes

Note that

  • Existing DoTs will still be Moonfire, a fresh cast is required to generate Sunfire.
  • Damage is determined at the point of casting
  • If you are talented for Spell nature naturesblessing [Nature's Grace] then if you cast after eclipse has processed, you will gain 15% spell haste (as the Cool Down will have been re-set)

It is therefore probably worthwhile recasting Moonfire immediately after solar or lunar eclipse processes.

Known Bugs

If you use macros to cast Moonfire, they may not work during Solar Eclipse[1]
