Nexus Point[1] is an original English manga written by Richard Knaak and illustrated by Kim Jae-Hwan taking place in the Warcraft universe. It is Volume 2 in Shadow Wing.

Description[]

As Ragnok leads his fel orc and nether dragon army to the Outland Gates, Jorad, Tyri, and the Alliance army prepare for the fight of their lives. But even if they defeat Ragnok, the battle is far from over as the nether dragons pose a more dangerous threat than even Ragnok. Will the spawn of Deathwing cause the destruction of Azeroth?

Summary[]

The death knight Ragnok Bloodreaver has an ethereal device that he uses to control netherdrakes via energy-draining collars affixed to them. In Ragnok's attempt to take control of the Dark Portal, a wild spell from one of the drakes combined with the energy of the others strikes the Dark Portal, shutting it down. Ragnok is killed by Jorad Mace, who also destroys the device.

With the device smashed, the collars begin uncontrollably siphoning away the netherdrakes' energy. In an attempt to save the drakes, Tyrigosa opens a portal to Coldarra so that they can draw enough energy from the Nexus to burn out the collars and survive. The netherdrakes continue to draw more and more energy from the Nexus, intending to become so powerful that none will ever control them again. Malygos gets pissed off and starts vaporizing the netherdrakes for "defiling the Nexus." The netherdrakes retort that they are the Nexus now. Malygos, in his insanity, reasons that the Nexus is the ultimate repository of arcane magic, and as he is the lord of arcane magic, thus if the netherdrakes are part of the Nexus then they must be part of himself. So he sends them "back where they belong" by absorbing them into himself. Clarity returns to Malygos as he absorbs so much energy into himself and he truly sees, for the first time in millennia, everything that has happened to the world, and especially to its magic. He goes off to consider what must be done.

The Dark Portal is restored to working order. Feeling guilty about essentially leading virtually the entire population of Outland's netherdrakes to their deaths, Tyrigosa returns to Outland to watch over the remaining eggs as they hatch. Zzeraku, the last surviving netherdrake from this incident, gets captured by an agent of Sinestra, leading into Night of the Dragon.
