Mimiron (called Mimir by his friends)[2] is one of the keepers. He once resided at the Temple of Invention,[3] but left after being corrupted by Loken and Yogg-Saron. It is said that his mechanical servants appear to have turned against each other and that several attendants have been piled together in an unorganized manner. The remaining mechagnome guardians were corrupted by an unknown source.[3]

Biography[]

Ancient history[]

Mimiron is one of the Keepers created by the Pantheon to lead the titan-forged armies against the forces of the Old Gods. He was given power by Norgannon. He and Loken battled and defeated Neptulon the Tidehunter.[4]

After Loken was manipulated by Yogg-Saron and accidentally killed Sif, the wife of Thorim, he was desperate to keep it a secret. Loken arranged for Mimiron's death, making it look like a lab accident, but Mimiron's mechagnome followers saved his spirit and created a mechagnome body for Mimiron to inhabit. He has not been completely sane since.[5][6]

In ancient times, Mimiron discovered a mineral named kaja'mite and, attempting to determinate its properties, he experimented on various races. He found that the ore was extremely potent and that it increased the intellect of his subjects. One of these subjects was a small primitive life race that roamed around the forests near Ulduar. By consuming kaja'mite, they were transformed into a new, highly intelligent race known as the goblins.[7]

Mimiron first appears as a boss within Ulduar. After defeating him, he breaks free of Yogg-Saron's corruption and aids you in the battle against the Old God. When active, Mimiron provides the following buffs:

  • Inv gizmo 07 Speed of Invention — Increases all damage done by 10% and movement speed by 20%. Increases player size by 10%.
  • Spell shaman spectraltransformation Destabilization Matrix — Mimiron channels a beam of titan energy that destabilizes the molecular structure of certain Saronite based creatures, reducing attack speed by 100% and casting speed by 300%. Cast on all tentacles outside in the encounter.

Legion[]

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

Inv firearm 2h artifactlegion d 01 [Titanstrike], a gun Mimiron had created for his companion Thorim long ago, was at some point stolen from Ulduar and brought to Shield's Rest on the Broken Isles. During the invasion of the Burning Legion, the gun was stolen again by a vrykul woman named Prustaga, who intended to retrieve the Inv trinket 80 titan01b [Thunderspark] within and gain the power of the Titans. Mimiron worked with Thorim, a hunter hero, and Grif Wildheart (who Mimiron mistook for his old friend Brann Bronzebeard) to retrieve the artifact from Prustaga.

He later sent his projection into Highmountain.

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

Mimiron appeared as an Image of Mimiron for hunter adventurers during the Fourth War. He suggested that Hati might still be alive, based on data he's gathered.[8] When the adventurer reached Mimiron, he told them that Hati's essence had managed to escape before destruction and was not actually lost. Mimiron proceeded to locate Hati. He found that Hati's essence had been split in two; one half to be found in Silithus and the other at the Temple of Storms.[9][10] Soon after, the split essences of Hati were retrieved and absorbed into the Inv trinket 80 titan01b [Thunderspark] thanks to the adventurer. Mimiron had the relic brought back to his workshop where he managed to fuse the essences together, and Hati was reborn.[11]

Visions of N'Zoth[]

After the escape of N'Zoth from the Last Prison, Magni Bronzebeard had MOTHER check the status of the titan forges from the Chamber of Heart to see where the Old God might strike. When Ulduar was checked, Mimiron terminated the communication; Magni believed his work had likely been interrupted by the call and the keeper had 'hung up the line' in annoyance.[12]

Creations[]

  • A peerless example of techno-magical engineering, the Inv firearm 2h artifactlegion d 01 [Titanstrike] was designed by Keeper Mimiron, a titanic watcher and brilliant inventor. Securely housed in the heart of the rifle, a relic known as the Inv trinket 80 titan01b [Thunderspark] powers the Titanstrike, harnessing the essence of storms and focusing it into concentrated blasts of energy. The rifle's power source can also be credited to Mimiron, who devised it for his comrade, Keeper Thorim, in ages past.[13]
    • Mimiron also drew out detailed blueprints for Titan's Reach, a masterwork techno-magical bow along the same lines as Titanstrike, right down to the power source. It is suggested that the plans were originally stored away in his archives.[14]
  • Mimiron created the clockwork race he called the mechagnomes.[15] Some of the early mechagnomes became afflicted by the Curse of Flesh, and became the first gnomes.

I can grant you and your friends the Speed of Invention, increasing your damage and movement speed. In addition, I can destabilize the matrices of certain Saronite based life-forms, reducing their attack and casting speeds.

  • Mimiron sees Brann Bronzebeard as an old friend by the time of World of Warcraft: Legion.
  • Grif Wildheart also became his friend at some point before the quest to obtain Titanstrike, but is constantly mistaken for Brann.
  • It was previously stated that Mimiron created the mechagnomes in his image,[15] but this was changed with Chronicle.
  • As Mimiron is obviously still alive and active in Ulduar, he can meet the progeny of his own creations, the gnomes of Gnomeregan, though it is not known how Mimiron feels towards them.
  • In Norse mythology Mímir was the giant guarding Mímisbrunnr, the well of wisdom beneath the world tree Yggdrasil.
  • Mimiron is voiced by Dino Andrade.
  • Mimiron appears as a legendary rogue minion in the TITANS expansion. His flavor text reads: "1N1T14T1NG F74V0R T3XT S3QU3NC3."
