Strategy

For a guild on the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline, this fight should not be a challenge and can be done with as few as 15 members. Maws is a straightforward boss fight in the waters of Azshara. There is no need to submerge during this encounter, so water breathing isn't necessary. Maws will hit the MT pretty hard and somewhat sporadically so you need a fair amount of healers on him. Maws will frenzy, making Spell holy dizzy [Detect Magic] important as to allow your hunters to use a Spell nature drowsy [Tranquilizing Shot] when this occurs. When Maws is below 20%, he will occasionally AoE for 2000-3000 damage every 15 seconds. Prayer of Healing should be able to keep all raid members up due to the long interval between AoE ticks. Make sure the druids and paladins/shamans step up the healing on the MT while the priests are group healing.
