Mail armor is generally worn by warriors and paladins below level 40, as well as hunters and shamans above level 40. At level 40, both warriors and paladins gain access to plate armor.
Chain Mail armor is second only to Plate armor in defensive points, it does however contain some very powerful item sets including:
- Chain of the Scarlet Crusade,[1] - Ideal for Levels 30-40
- The Elements,[2] - A high level, non-class specific set
- The Ten Storms,[3] - One of the most powerful shaman sets available
A number of people argue that Chain Mail makes shamans an unbalanced character class and that they should be primarily a caster and support class. However, staying true to the 'Jack of All Trades' design of the shamans it seems an appropriate decision.
