It would appear that if all the elementals aren't killed by half-past the hour, they all despawn. This could just be sorry luck on my part, however twice now I've arrived at the spawning point to see them all just fade away. Ariesian (talk) 14:39, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Was this where, I have this happened to me in a lower level area (Silithus), seems to be a bug, sometimes I see them sometimes they just fade like you say, there has been reports of this all over the place, but I haven't tested further yet Luxcura (talk) 22:43, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Locations on main page

After some feedback from a number of people, the general consensus is that it's easier to have it all on the one page than have people - especially new people or those unfamiliar with it or disinclined to hunt about - have to go to a second page for the rather pertinent information.

Having multiple copies of this list in different locations on the wiki is a problem, and should be solved regardless of whether this page is actually going to display this list or not.

I don't buy the "let's cater to people who can't be bothered to hunt about" argument when, essentially, hunting about is noticing a line that says something like "You can view the [locations of the rifts here]." Taken to its logical extreme, this is essentially "Let's have all the content on one page, because some people might not see it otherwise," which leads to bad experience for both editors and readers.

If you're going to invoke the words "consensus" and "feedback," you really should link discussions that demonstrate those -- as it stands right now, I can't figure out who, besides you, wants this list here, and for what reasons, which does your position no favours. -- foxlit (talk) 15:24, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Agreed that multiple copies is redundant, but is a sub page with a link, hidden amongst the text, really the best location to supply pertinent information? The discussions were had offline, hence why I said that it should be talked about here rather than simply done without any form of discussion.

It is not "catering to people who can't be bothered to hunt about", simply a realisation that people are less inclined to use this as a source for information if they have to dig and look for an unremarkable mention that information can be found elsewhere - that is standard usability right there.

This page is not so unnecessarily large that the information shouldn't be here. Shouldn't the information be on the one source that is easiest for people to locate and find?

If it must be moved, clear links to where the information can be found should be put in its place, not the brief and unremarkable mention that was left here previously. 4 Phases

The problem with that interpretation is the second sentence of the quote -- "We're on the first [stage of the event]" -- which was said after the rifts appeared. — foxlit (talk) 11:35, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Start Time

The earthquakes started before 4.0.1. I'm thinking either 3.3.5 or 3.3.3, not sure when though. This patch made the much more noticble and frequent though.Dr. Cheis (talk) 01:55, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Before 4.0.1 I could not confirm the earthquakes. They may be a few, but they were too short and without sound effects to be noticed. Since 4.0.1 they cannot be missed, like I missed them before, especially the last few days. Hans Kamp (talk) 13:48, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I can confirm this. There is much discussion of earthquakes, and mobs hidden in Stormwind that are invisible but could be "tabbed" to and speculated to be part of the earthquake programming, which were in existance prior to 4.0.1. Ddcorkum (talk) 20:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Don't mind the yank. There is a better guide on the actual elemental invasion page. But shouldn't you remove the dialogue under the previous section as well if its just about the timeline only? I'm planning on eventually merging this and the Elemental Invasion page to have a page for the entire pre-Cataclysm event. Phase 4 Heroes

Think we can put what heroes take part in defending the cities? It's not really too important but its novel and I'm the kind of people who loves knowing these things. Orgrimmar: Garrosh in the Valley of Strength, Vol'jin in the Valley of Spirits, and Rexxar in the Valley of Honor. Thunder Bluff: Baine in Cairne in the Center Rise, Aponi Brightmane in the Hunter Rise Anyone know who the Alliance heroes are for Stormwind and Ironforge? Blank Tables

So I just made some pretty significant additions to the page, particularly the tables at the bottom for the districts under attack, number of elemental rifts, and number of trapped citizens. The only problem is I don't have the data to fill it in yet! I thought it best to set it up so it could be filled in as others discover the information, as was done with Tripping the Rifts. I'll still be seeking out this information and filling it in myself but I thought it best to set it up now so it could get finished faster. Well I guess that's as complete a list as I can make it. I missed a lot of NPC quotes due to cities bugging out and events becoming unable to be finished, and some due to annoying crashes that caused a loss of data, and let's face it, it's hard to log in and be present for each invasion.
