Jormungar

Jormungar

Jormungar Wyrms are extremely large worms that dwell in Northrend. They have flattened bodies with rows of muscular crystalline spines along either flank.

Trivia

The name is a reference to or inspired by the World Serpent of Norse mythology, Jörmungandr that was said to be so large it circled the world.

Speculation

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

It is possible that there is only one wyrm, given who it is named for, and the size. Uldum is a dungeon located in Southern Tanaris, it is one of the three original titan cities left behind on Azeroth. Uldum is noted for it's too front wooden doors, which are hanging, bulging outwards with a giant gaping hole in the center ringed in arrows.

The Jormungar Wyrm is a monster shown in Wotlk's Bestiary, it is named after a famous serpent in Norse mythology that grew so large it encircled the world to devour it's own tail.

What is the connection you ask?

Well I was outside Uldum the other day, pondering what possibly could of made that hole, why people were shooting at it, who those people were and where they are now, when I noticed something on the stone pillars surrounding the Valley of Wonder.

Notice anything?

That's right, the artwork on the pillars pays homage to the very namesake of this new monster being suddenly introduced in the next expansion.

This leaves us with two old questions.

1. When will Uldum become an open instance, and what does it hold?

2. What made that hole and where is it now?

And one new question.

3. What is the Jormungar Wyrm, and how does it relate to Uldum, and why is it surfacing only now? -Caster < Colossus > Eldre'Thalas
