Jaruk Bloodfyre was a Shadowmoon orc shaman who lived on Draenor at the start of the genocide of the draenei. Having felt the elements abandoning him, he was wary of the course of his people and refused to drink the Blood of Mannoroth from the Chalice of Rebirth, unlike his brother J'argg, who became a leader of raids on the remaining draenei, and often urged Jaruk to drink as well and join their slaughtering of man, woman and child alike. J'argg forced him to carry axes but they were ineffective in the shaman's hands. He was very saddened by the situation of violent orcs and helpless draenei. He had learned the Draenei language in order to trade with them, and was fluent in it.

Biography[]

At least two times, Jaruk tried to help draenei to escape, but was thwarted by J'argg showing up and killing them, who already suspects his brother of what he deems treachery. After he tried to help Alius to escape, the draenei was mortally wounded by J'argg who eventually went for the draenei's family. Alius asked Jaruk to help his family before Jaruk ended his suffering. It was then that Jaruk decided to change his fate. He hurried after Alius' wife and daughter to protect them from J'argg, but was too late to save the woman. When J'argg wanted him to kill the young girl, Leena, Jaruk instead attacked J'argg and blinds his left eye, escaping with the girl as an attacking ogre lord distracted his brother. While heading to Zangarmarsh, Leena got bitten by a Cavern Crawler‎ Hatchling and she started to burn up. Jaruk smashed the hatchling and eventually found some herbs in Zangarmarsh for the antidote. Later, a marsh beast delayed them, allowing J'argg's raid party to catch up, but Jaruk was able to stir a hive of fireflies and a spore walker, which attacked the approaching orcs. With the help of Jaruk's worg mount Fang'gar, who had been brought with the raid party, they were able to escape again.

Several years pass, with Jaruk and Leena hiding among her people. Knowing that J'argg would hunt him as long as he was alive, Jaruk never stayed too long in the same place as to not endanger the draenei sheltering them. Jaruk adopted the girl and raised her, teaching her the old ways of his people, the orcish language, how to track, and hunt with a bow. Thanks to her, he found inner peace. After some years, Fang'gar passed away, leaving Leena in tears of mourning. However, for her next "birthday" (the anniversary of the day Jaruk rescued her) he got her a young cub, which she named Pebbles. That very night, she took her new pet out to hunt boars for breakfast, but is discovered by J'argg and his men, taking her as hostage and confronting Jaruk in the cave of a draenei named Chantu that was their temporary home. Jaruk charged at them, but was subdued and forced to finally drink the Blood of Mannoroth that J'argg had acquired from the Black Temple. His eyes turning to a red glow like the others, he was given a dagger to kill Leena, but instead pierces J'argg's throat, and then dispatched the rest of their enemies, including Ra'nok. But J'argg managed to drive his sword into Jaruk's back, until Leena finished him off with a fallen blade. As Jaruk laid dying, the elements returned to grant him one final vision: that of Leena as an adult shaman, working together with draenei, orcs, and other races to restore the balance of the elements.[1]
