Inscription is a profession which is going to be introduced in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Players will be able to augment the cool down, damage, or mechanics (stun, knock back, DoT, HoT, etc.) of a spell. Will have 2 aspects, one side will be the augmenting of spells, but also will be able to create a new type of item (item type not yet revealed).
Inscriptions will be created as scrolls, so they can be sold at auction or traded among characters on the same account (unlike the way Enchanting currently works).
Those who don't purchase the expansion will be able to use items created by inscription, but only those players who purchase Wrath of the Lich King will be able to learn Inscription as a profession.
