Grenda was one of the dwarves under Rom's command and his second-in-command, that stayed near Grim Batol after the event's in Day of the Dragon (even though she was not mentioned in Day of the Dragon).
She, her brothers, and a group of dwarven warriors accompanied Rom to Grim Batol and captured a skardyn. The group was attacked by a blood elf and drakonid and fled.
Later, when Rom's group of warriors and Vereesa Windrunner tried to hold of an attack by fire elementals,[1] a hole appeared and some of the dwarven warriors fell down (including Rom). Grenda, Vereesa, and what was left of the group was captured by the drakonid Rask. However, the group was able to escape their capture but while en route Vereesa would end up separated by the group and discovered Krasus. Meanwhile, Grenda wouldn't notice until there was no telling where the high elf could be and would make the choice to continue on to ensure the horrors of Grim Batol would not take any unaware.
She and her group would eventually come under attack but be saved by the arrival of Rhonin and his surprising alliance with an army of raptors. During the battle that followed Grenda would be overjoyed to see that Rom had survived the fall and would witness that newly freed Zzeraku attack Dargonax. As the two dragons continued to clash Grenda would be ordered to Rom to lead the dwarves into one of the passages out of Grim Batol. However, as Grenda received her instructions, she saw Rask attempting to sneak up on Rom and Iridi and precede to warn Rom of the danger. The fierce fight between Rask and Rom would end with the two ultimately slaying one another in combat and Grenda would deeply mourn Rom's death.
Following the fall of Dargonax and the other dark forces at Grim Batol Grenda led the surviving dwarves away from the mountain in order to report the events that transpired.
Love for Rom[]
The novel described her feelings for Rom, which started in respect for her commander but ended up something more.
