Azshir Doomfist, son of Irulon, is a prodigal youth who aspires to follow in the footsteps of his father. However, unlike his father, Azshir is a paladin. Azshir was born not long before the Scourge Invasion that decimated Lordaeron. When Deathknell was being attacked, Azshir had been captured and taken by a paladin trying to save him.

After Irulon joined the not-yet-overzealous Scarlet Crusade, Azshir was placed in religious classes of the Light. When the Argent Dawn was formed, Irulon had no choice but to keep Azshir in the Scarlet Monastery, for even the betrayal of Renault Mograine had not made Irulon as fearful for his son as the Scourge did.

Eventually, Azshir escaped and has searched long for his father. Finally, after many long years, father and son reunited - for a short time.

Cataclysm

This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

Not long after the Gnomes and Trolls took back their homelands, Azshir head into Southshore on the way to the Lordaeron area when the Forsaken began to plague-bomb the town. Azshir, lacking both a map and awareness of location, fled to the nearby Dalaran Crater, whereas a few former Southshore residents took him aboard their small sea vessel and drifted toward Fenris Isle to avoid Forsaken contact. Afterwards, many of these people took the blood of one named Darius Crowley to immunize themselves from the new plague effects. Azshir, refusing such a notion, believed that his holy powers would render the plague weak against him. The group would later attack the Forsaken on multiple fronts until Crowley's daughter was kidnapped, leaving him no choice but to reclaim her in return for a promise of turning his forces back from Silverpine.

After these course of events transpired, Azshir transported to Stormwind City, where he has formed his own guild of righteous fighters intent on purging the world of all evil-kind, even those who could easily bring certain death to them.

Notes

Azshir wields Quel'serrar and the  [Wall of the Dead] shield as his father did before him. Irulon had already acquired Quel'Delar and his own shield, so he gave his old weapon and shield to Azshir. Secretely, Azshir uses his own crafted items instead, unhappy with the idea of being known only as, "The Son of Doomfist".

Upon hearing news that his father, Irulon, had been killed by Lady Sinestra in the Twilight Highlands, he decided not to have a ceremony for him, but instead chooses to fight in his honor, unwary of the prying eyes of Traleon Llane.

Azshir's unknown mother was killed sometime around the Third War. She and Irulon had named their son after his grandfather, whose spirit was known to haunt the Scarlet Monastery.
