Garadar is the main village of the Mag'har orcs, located in northern Nagrand.

History[]

The village was originally built around 10 years before the First War in order to quarantine victims of the red pox, who had contracted the plague at a recent Kosh'harg festival. Ner'zhul feared that the plague bearers would spread the disease to new victims and urged them to remain in Nagrand. One of the afflicted was the chieftain of the Frostwolf clan, Garad. While the thought of not returning home filled him with sorrow, he agreed to take charge of the afflicted, sending his son and only remaining heir Durotan home to look after the Frostwolves. In a matter of weeks, the red pox consumed Garad. Though he had led his fellow victims for only a short time, he had earned their eternal respect, and the village was named Garadar in his honor.[1][2]

As a result of the quarantine and isolation, the orcs at Garadar were not affected by the fel energies that years later caused the skin of most orcs to turn green. They became known as Mag'har, or the "uncorrupted".[3]

The faction military chief of Garadar is Garrosh Hellscream, son of Grommash Hellscream. He is aided by Jorin Deadeye, son of Kilrogg Deadeye. The spiritual leader of the Mag'har is Greatmother Geyah — Durotan's mother and Thrall's grandmother — who resides in the large circular hospice that serves as the inn. Since the reopening of the Dark Portal, the Horde, with Captain Kroghan and adventurers coming to aid it.

After solving the mystery of the agitated ancestors of Nagrand, Thrall himself will come to Garadar accompanied by his chief advisor Drek'Thar and a battalion of his Kor'kron honor guards.

Shortly before the Cataclysm of Azeroth, Thrall came here and spent some time.[4]

Services[]

  • There is a Horde flight path here connecting Garadar to the rest of Outland.
  • The wind rider master, Gursha, is on the southeast side of the circular-shaped inn on the north edge of town.
  • Repairs are available from Osrok the Immovable — who stands a short distance to the east from the large bonfire south of the inn.

Notes[]

  • The player must be at least neutral with the Mag'har to talk to people here. For more information on how to become neutral, see Mag'har (faction).
  • A blog post previewing the alternate Nagrand seen in Warlords of Draenor stated that Garadar was not built until after Draenor shattered into Outland,[5] contradicting established lore. Sean Copeland later clarified that Garadar existed before Draenor broke apart in the main timeline, but this might not hold true for the alternate Draenor.[6]

There are some things that are no longer there, too—Halaa and Garadar, for example, don’t exist. These were created after Outland became what it did.
