Galvar Pureblood was a High Commander of the Scarlet Crusade during the period in which High General Abbendis formed the Scarlet Onslaught and sailed for Northrend. When the necropolis Acherus was moved into play against the Crusade, Galvar began assembling a host from Hearthglen and the surrounding lands. His plan was to unite with Abbendis' forces and drive back the death knights.
Abbendis, however, was manipulated by Mal'Ganis under the guise of the Light into believing that Galvar and his forces stood no chance and would be slaughtered. After sending many Scarlet Couriers to try and warn the High Commander not to march to Tyr's Hand and join her in Northrend, Abbendis sailed for the frozen north, abandoning the rest of the Scarlet Crusade to its fate. Abbendis hoped that Pureblood would survive and rally the survivors.[1][2]
Shortly before the Battle for Light's Hope Chapel, the Lich King sent his forces to counter the anticipated Scarlet army from Tirisfal and Hearthglen, and Pureblood's legions were defeated by the death knights.[3] Nothing is known of the High Commander's fate.
High General
The armies of Hearthglen and Tirisfal are less than a day's ride from New Avalon. We ride with the Light shining upon our backs and the wind at our heels. Soon the Scourge will have to contend with the full might of the Scarlet Crusade!
