Fray Island

Fray Island.

“There is an island off the coast of the Barrens, south of Ratchet. It is called Fray Island and it is a place where warriors meet. Meet, and fight.”

Wu Shen[1]

Fray Island[77.7, 89.4]VZ-Northern BarrensBlip is a small arid island located off the eastern shore of the Northern Barrens. A small sewer stretches the length of the island and players diving into it will be able to find several hostile fish.

After the Cataclysm, the Southsea Freebooters assaulted the island and are now using it as a base to assault any vessel that comes near the shore. Cap'n Garvey leads the pirates from this island, leaving Alicia Cuthbert in charge of his old flagship, the Maiden's Dagger.

Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War[]

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

After the Fall of Theramore, Jaina Proudmoore traveled to Fray Island and used it as a base from which she would unleash her massive tidal wave upon Orgrimmar. She killed all the Southsea Freebooters, marching through their encampments and scouring the buildings clean so that she would have no distractions. Fortunately, Thrall and Kalec found out and were able to dissuade her by saying that if she did she would be no better than either Garrosh or Arthas.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Interestingly, the back rooms of the house just left of the fighting ring have had the regular Barrens background music replaced by that of the Howling Fjord following the release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The reason for this is uncertain.
  • This area was planned to be available in the Southern Barrens warfront.
